Litle Tokyo is AMAZING... totally lovely great atmosphere, great restaraunt, great/friendly staff, food ready quickly, great presentation. Lilttle Tokyo is a beautiful little place including real live koi... which are beautiful. It has something for everyone even if you don't like sushi. Incredidbly vegan/vegetarian friendly which is excellent as mixed parties can be catered for... My recommendation would be the bento boxes.. DELICIOUS>>. also get some of the salad dressing to take home... beats ANY shop brand any day. I love Little Tokyo...I even don't mind popping in alone if I'm in Leeds running errands... every time i have been is been lovely and no mess ups :o) 5*****

I have been there twice but never had a good experience. Poor service, waitress was very impatient and carried a non-inviting gloomy expression. Food was overpriced and not up to standard. I ordered the saba(mackeral) teriyaki bento set and it was not good. Batter for tempura was too oily, rice portion too little, salad too sour (soaked in vinegar). Most importantly, the mackeral is not up to a japanese restaurant standard. The mackarel tasted exactly the same as my other friends' dishes which were unaju (grilled eel) and ton katsu(pork).
Overall not a good experience and in fact, the worst Japanese restaurant I have ever dined in.

Unfortunate to say, but this once great restaurant has gone seriously downhill. The last few times we have been we have had poor customer service. The vegetarian dish arrived with chicken and had to be returned, and minimal apology/acknowledgment was given from the staff. The starter was burnt and the smell ruined the rest of the meal. They had run out of main course that I initially wanted, and then didn't have my next choice either. A once great restaurant has had its last custom from us.

I have visited Little Tokyo so many times I lost count. The first time I randomly called in whilst stressing about exams and even had a book out whilst waiting for the food. I wanted to try the jellyfish but didn't want to order a full sushi meal so they were good enough to add it to the sushi starter (the raw duo), which was good of them. The Bento Boxes are great value, and surprisingly filling, they are also ideal for the folks not willing to give the fish a try. This restaurant also introduced me to a great little drinking game involving lager, chop sticks and saki, I'll leave it to you to figure that out :). Anyway I love it, everyone I've taken loves it and I'll be there again this week.
Just two negatives - I now have a young daughter and they always seem to stick us in the waiting area to eat - it may be just bad luck but I suspect they don't wish to ruin the ambience for the other diners with kids around. The other negative - my wife said the other day that she thinks it isn't as great as it used to be - I hope this isn't the case.
And finally - There used to be a little meditation/Zen room at the back, I never used it but a nice touch anyway.

I've been going to Little Tokyo for nearly ten years, but I think it has gone really downhill in recent years, in terms of both the quality of the food, hygiene, and the service. Seeing a rat-trap outside the kitchen is not a good sign, and while they make a big deal of their vegan and vegetarian options, after being served meat (something that has also happened to vegetarian friends of mine) I really don't trust them.
My last visit to Little Tokyo (and I do mean 'last visit')was with a friend, who like myself is not only vegan, but a long standing Little Tokyo customer. The restaurant was very quiet, and in fact we were the only diners seated downstairs when our order was taken. My friend ordered a bento box set with tofu steak and I ordered a vegetarian ramen dish. While ordering asked the waiter if the noodle dish came with tofu and he said that it did. I also said that I was vegan.
When the dish came the waiter said that he hoped there was enough tofu in it for me. In fact it had meat in it, and because it was dark in the restaurant I put some in my mouth. For someone who is a strict vegan of many years this was a disgusting experience and I had to go to the toilet to be sick. I wasn't even offered a glass of water, and when I asked to speak to the manager I was told there was no manager there. I then had to pay for this awful experience.
A written complaint did not even receive an acknowledgement. I would never set foot in Little Tokyo again.

Little Tokyo is a bit of an institution in Leeds - tucked away behind House of Fraser, and not particularly attractive from the outside, however step inside and you will be amazed - the food is excellent - ranging from sushi to Bento boxes (which are particularly good fun) - the staff are always great and if you go on a Saturday night lay on entertainment as well. We go regularly and have taken work colleagues, in laws and friends and everyone has always raved about it afterwards.highly recommend !

I love this place. We were seated next to the bridge, served promptly and given spectacular food every time. The duck and mango bento box, ginger and lime cheesecake and plum wine are especially good, although my friend raved about the teriyaki and the coconut ice cream. Always a pleasure.

This is a fab little place, great value food - the box meals are amazing, you get your own TV dinner style box with little compartments of dipping sauce, rice, tempura (delicious), salad and whatever your main course is for about £12. I'm vegetarian and I love it as they have 'fake chicken' which appears to be a type of quite tough tofu, I'm making it sound weird but it's really yummy, loads of just vegetable type dishes as well if you don't like the fake meat substitutes. The only bug bear is that you can't book a table so if you are going on a weekend make sure you arrive with about 1 hours notice of when you want to eat as you will have to wait. The service can also be a little bit slow so be prepared to wait when they are busy

I have been here several times now and am always impressed by the food - the duck and mango bento box and the ginger and lime cheesecake are particular favourites, as is the plum wine. This time I tried a sushi starter and also found it delicious. The service was excellent - one of our group arrived just before the main courses reached us and yet she was still served quickly enough for her to finish eating at the same time as us. Always a pleasure.

a great restaurant! nice relaxed atmosphere, very thematic - japanese bridge, trees dotted around the place, staff in japanese dresses. and the food is so nice and fresh. will definitely be going again
