My boyfriend and I decided to book into 'A Different Taste' on Sunday 30th May for the bank holiday weekend after reading good reviews on here about it! The restaurant is very small- one might say 'intimate'- but that is not a bad thing! The atmosphere was fresh and modern, with some kind of halogen type lamp on the table in place of a candle- which we both agreed was definitely different!
Food wise we were not disappointed- I had the prawn and melon platter to start followed by the Special Chicken whilst my boyfriend enjoyed chicken liver pate followed by pork escalopes. For both of our main courses the accompanying vegetables and sauces were lovely and the presentation of the vegetables around the plate was certainly very novel! We shared a sticky toffee pudding for dessert which was gorgeous, and the house wine was reasonably priced.
My only slightly negative comment is that we were sat right in front of the door which was a little draughty every time someone came through the door, and there was a bit too much parsley garnish on my starter for my personal taste, but apart from that we had a lovely meal there and found the staff very helpful. The service was extremely prompt (the starters arrived only five minutes after ordering!) despite the restaurant being busy and fully booked, which was impressive. Overall a great little gem to visit in Keswick that I would recommend and would go there again :-)

We booked a table at A Different Taste after looking at the reviews and we were not disappointed. When I rang I spoke to the owner she asked if we were attending for any special reason. I told her it was the last night of our honeymoon, when we arrived there was a special table set for us with Table confetti rose petals and candles it looked lovely! The staff were fantastic friendly, polite and just the right amount of attention. We ordered King prawn special starter and Pate they were both delicious, for mains we both had Ribeye steak the meat was sooo tender and cooked to perfection!! Side veg and sauce was also very good. Be sure to leave room for your pudding wich are totally amazing we had apple pie with cream and Apple Special (Apple puree and cream sandwiched between two homemade shortbread biscuits) they were both to die for!!! We will definitely be back maybe next year for our anniversary!!! Loved it but don't just take our word for it go see for yourself!

We had a brilliant evening. The restaurant was modern without being cold or intimidating. The food was excellent both in taste and presentation. Would definitely go again.

A fantastic meal! My girlfriend has an allergy to food preservatives, but the chef was only too happy to make up something unique to our specific requirements, that was fantastic. Highly recommended.

We have enjoyed several outstanding meals at A Different Taste, definitely the best food in Keswick. Keep up the good work Debs. Janet and David Hawkins, Milton Keynes

On a wintry Saturday night the owner let the 4 of us into the restaurant before opening time. There were 3 vegetarians, including a wheat and dairy intolerant person and the owner prepared a special meal. The food was lovely, staff friendly and we enjoyed our evening out. Thank you for saving what could have been a miserable night seeking a restaurant with the variety of meals we needed without a reservation.

I picked this restaurant because of the reviews on here - and I wasn't disappointed. The service was excellent, competent and quick, the food was lovely and a great atmosphere. It felt a bit crowded but there were constantly people turning up a the door looking for seats. There were no problems with our group of 13 and the chef even made a cake for a birthday. She was obviously well practiced at this as the cake was delicious. My dad (the birthday boy) was really delighted at the whole event - and he is hard to please! We will definitely be going back when next anywhere near Keswick.

One of the best meals out we have ever had. Luckily we booked a table as it was full on arrival. The pate was delicious as were the prawns and melon...simple but tasty and well presented. Mains were equally delicious lamb cooked to perfection and a beautiful piece of chicken with a cheese board to share and no problem when extra crackers were called for. Will definitely be back and will recommend to anyone who will listen!

A different taste was the crown in a fantastic week in the Lakes. Nice menu, friendly service, well presented, tasty food (unfortunately, the puddings were irresistible so we had to walk 10 miles the next day!)
