The Manor House Inn is a traditional 18th century country pub with fabulous views out over the Derwent Valley and Reservoir. It's about half an hour away from both Newcastle city centre and Durham and if you fancy getting away from it all has four cosy ensuite rooms 'Partridge, Quail, Pheasant and Grouse' named after the game birds found on the nearby moors. Food is served every day from 12 noon onwards with the focus very much on local produce. The menu features classic dishes like Fish Pie, Cumberland Sausage & Mash and slow roast Northumbrian Belly Pork as well as Tandoori Rabbit legs, Soft Boiled Scotch Eggs and Handmade Venison Burgers. Game dishes also feature and depending on the season the choice includes local pheasant, partridge, grouse, venison, rabbit and trout. The Manor Inn also has a great range of cask ales on tap with Morland's Old Speckled Hen the house ale.
