fantastic food, if you request something different from menu if it's possible they serve it, staff's customer service skills second to non, will cater for any amount of people, we had a group of 50 and all were well looked after, will never eat curries anywhere else, have tried only to be let down Akrams are the best

The atmosphere in this quaint country pub was excellent, the staff were helpful & very pleasant. Children are allowed but only till 9 which was late enough for us, the managers were very nice came & spoke to us which we thought was a nice touch. We will definitely be going again & soon.

My family and I have eaten here twice now and thoroughly enjoy it. The staff are attentive without being annoying and the food is very very good. Its quite a dark decorated place that you have to get used to, but definitely worth a visit

It's the only fish shop i use. The foods always fresh and the kebabs are the best around.

Work in the Mailbox? Or the city centre? Like eating out at lunchtime? Try the Oriental - it? recently been rated by the Times as one of the top ten pan-Asian restaurants in the UK. The new-look lunchtime menu offers a range of oriental tapas, noodle dishes, noodle soups and main courses. I tagged on to a group of twenty suited and chattery lunchtime diners, and opted for Yuk Sung as a starter. This is a rewarding, light meal of finely chopped carrot mixed with minced chicken, which is then stir-fried, set on a bed of vermicelli-like strands of rice paste, sprinkled with sesame seeds and served up on trimmed iceberg lettuce leaves. Splash on the soy sauce (if you like it), roll the leaves up and eat. For a main course I plumped for Koay Teow, which is a noodle-and-beansprout recipe that? served with either beef or prawns. The contrast between the slippery, slightly gelatinous texture of the flat rice noodles, and the crunchy beansprouts is delightful. The chilli isn? overdone, and a glass of water or a bottle of Budweiser goes down well with it. The bar here is well-stocked as you can expect, with champagnes, wines, spirits, and a selection of classy bottled beers, including Chang, and Magners if you like your cider, and there are the cocktails, Wild Orchid and Tokyo Rose, for example, and the more familiar Screaming Orgasm and Sex on the Beach. You don? quite get a beach with the restaurant but you get the expanse of water at the junction with the Worcester Canal, and a view along the canal up to Gas St Basin and Broad Street, and with the sun out, the reflections on the water and the pacifying oriental music, it? a restful place to eat and drink during time out of the office.

Excellent restaurant very good food and a lot to choose from at a very reasonable price. Would recommend that you don't eat during the day before you go as the portions are very hearty!

I am a regular at this restaurant and I always find the food to be excellent, the service friendly and the decor has recently been updated. If you can not find what you want on the menu just ask and they will make it for you. In fact they often make me different dishes when I go. Worth a try. By far the best Indian on the high street in Sutton and in fact better than the Balti triangle.

I was treated to a lovely 3 course lunch by a friend in mid August 2006. They do a relatively cheap set menu, under £20 for 2 courses but the choice is very limited. I could have demanded a bottle of wine and gone for a lobster started but it might have been the end of a beautiful friendship! The atmosphere was lovely and quite noisy but we could look around whilst being left in our own private space. The food was wonderful - I'd be happy if I could produce food as tasty at every meal. The portions aren't huge but as I had 3 courses I didn't need any extras! The growing boys out there will obviously need some extras! I'd love to go again and they have a very reasonable Xmas menu out already. We had a 3 course lunch each, with 1 proper drink and a few soft ones, no wine for under £80.

My wife surprised me with a birthday lunch at Simpsons and to celebrate we chose the tasting menu. It was an amazing experience lasting over 3 hours and including courses that weren't even listed on the menu. The staff were friendly, polite and very informed about the food and made the whole time even more special. The cost was expensive but justifiably so. I am including only a snippet of the courses in this review as a full recourse of events would take up too much room and use too many adjectives. We had foie gras ravioli, seared tuna rolled in wild sesame, sweetbreads, mouth watering beef, scallops, goats cheese, two desserts, coffee and petit fours. Each of these courses was accompanied with various purees, compotes, tempura, reductions. I could go on! The main delight for my wife was the cheese course; shavings of the tastiest goats cheese lay around the plate, what turned out to be a foam of goats cheese on the middle was accompanied with beetroot crisps on top. This was accompanied by a beetroot sorbet (!) which was a new delight for the palette. My favourite was the seared scallops with pureed cauliflower, tempura cauliflower and a raw slither of fresh cauliflower. The Michelin star, in our eyes, is just deserved due to the warm welcome from the staff, the endless knowledge of the dishes from the staff and the use of Birmingham made plates, cutlery. Also the menu was exquisitely thought out to cater for all tastes and every human sense imaginable. As we were driving we didn't indulge in alcohol but the wine list was huge covering wines from all over the world including countries that we didn't know produced wine! A sommelier was on hand to guide patrons through every imaginable choice and a second trip without the car may be in order for the future. As mentioned the meal was expensive, but Simpsons is not like any other restaurant we have ever dined at. A weekly occurrence for the rich, a special treat for the rest of us!

what can I say ,,lovely lovely lovely, this place is gr8,the food excellent and what a fantastic choice ,staff polite and very friendly, ambience relaxed and friendly .this is a consistently high standard restaurant (my family and myself and friends just keep coming back) I recommend it to everyone thanks Julie..

Best fish and chip shop in Birmingham and probably the universe.. although Poulton Square chip shop next to the New Inn in Morecambe takes some beating. Fantastic batter - would compete with any tempura bar in Tokyo - and brilliantly white cod. Suspect that the chips are fried in beef dripping, no problem for me but veggies beware. Mushie peas and a pot of tea complete the set. Rick Stein would give it a big thumbs up.
