Abbey House Hotel – Barrow-in-Furnessexcellent chef, wonderful staff, great setting, everyone should try it.
Abbey House Hotel – Barrow-in-FurnessQuite simply the best meal I have eaten in the Lake District. Most enjoyable, will certainly call again
Abbey House Hotel – Barrow-in-FurnessA super 'Italian'. The food is fantastic, the staff both friendly and helpful [without being overbearing], you are never rushed, lovely setting with separate 'rooms'. Highly recommended !!
La Pergola – CarlisleWhat a wonderful experience, from the moment you pull in to the drive way you are treated to a marvellous experience. The lutchyen designed hotel is very impressive. the friendliness of all staff you meet is 2nd to none. Excellent service that is only surpassed by the food.
Abbey House Hotel – Barrow-in-FurnessBasic, clean accommodation. Good pub atmosphere. Cheap edible food.
Engine Inn – Grange-over-SandsJintana Thai is a little gem in the middle of Bowness that we discovered a few months ago. It serves traditional Thai food and has a delicious menu as well as nightly specials with lots of seafood. The decor is as impressive as the food with detail even down to the cutlery and beautiful decorations on every wall. No trip to the lakes should be made without a meal here and we certainly visit at least once every time we visit Bowness.
Jintana Thai – WindermereOne of our favourites - has been in Ambleside forever, nice to see it flourishing as it deserves. Good service, good food (and we eat in Chinatown in Manchester). Reliably good, unlike some of the other Ambleside restaurants. We always eat here when we visit Ambleside.
Jade Garden – AmblesideWhat a fantastic restaurant... I have been on numerous occasions and have recommended it to many people. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to accommodate your needs. The owner also works at the restaurant and it is a pleasure to see him as busy as the other staff as well as a pleasure to talk to. Very highly recommended and somewhere I will definitely go again and again.
Adriano Ristorante – Carlislealways a welcoming smile and greeting, nice choice of menu and a pleasant atmosphere!!!!
Butterflies Tearooms – WorkingtonAlthough it was last year when we visited the Commodore, the food was quite good. they also had a very varied blackboard menu of special dishes. Also a nice pint too. well worth a visit if you are in Grange.
With exception of being devoured by midges I really enjoyed my Cumberland sausage and mash with a couple of exceptional pints of Jennings bitter. Both the midges and I had a fine feast!
Britannia Inn – AmblesideExcellent food with a wide variety on the menu and often offered rare dishes not found in pubs elsewhere. Thoroughly enjoyed the meals here with the owners Paul & Louise to be found extremely charming and welcoming not to mention the locals creating a great atmosphere. well worth a visit
Punchbowl Inn – PenrithAfter a lovely stroll around Derwentwater, the Mary Mount was a welcome rest and served us a lovely lunch in the gardens overlooking the lake. Staff friendly and food very good. Would recommend this.
Mary Mount Hotel – KeswickA nice setting for afternoon tea. Would recommend the coffee and cakes as well as the scone and cream. Like afternoon tea used to be years ago.
Gincase – WigtonA lovely setting, not your usual supermarket setting. Would use this restaurant regularly - food excellent and the drover's platter outstanding
Booths Cafe – KendalI enjoyed my visit to the Lake District very enjoyable, there was lots of lovely cafe's and restaurants. But i thought that the Brambles Tea room in Windermere was very lovely, it had lovely food, service and an ideal location.
Brambles Coffee Bar – WindermereClassy four-star hotel with a fantastic lakeside setting. There's a fine dining restaurant and a brasserie and we opted for the latter with it being a hot summer's day. Imaginative menu. If the weather is good, don't miss out on a drink on the terrace.
