Tapas Tapas – WaterlooI have just returned from the Mayur and was appalled by the complete lack of service at this restaurant. Me and my partner waited a ridiculously long time to be served and didn't even receive our 3rd course and no apology was issued by the manager when I mentioned this to him. I would not dine here again as the service was so shocking and the manager had a couldn't care less attitude, I was frankly shocked by how blase the manager was about my comments as this is supposed to be one better Indian restaurants in the city.
Mayur – Liverpool City CentreThis is probably the best Indian Restaurant on the Wirral. Very high standard from start to finish. Fine dining at it's best. The presentation of food is wonderful and the service is of a very high standard. I cant wait to go back with the whole family.
Ambuja Indian Brasserie – HeswallWe have been eating here for 15 years and the standards have never varied -good value for money and excellent service. We saw another side to their service when 5 of us went to eat and my friend took suddenly ill - they were fantastic and called for paramedics and sat with her till they arrived and caused the least possible embarrassment for her whilst they dealt with the situation. They were brilliant with us all and even asked us to let them know how our friend was doing (she's fine now). When she called to thank them they offered her a free meal when she next goes (which will be soon). Great restaurant - Great Customer Service !
Casa Italia – Liverpool City CentreI ve eaten at Bistro Franc a few times now, either for a celebration(birthday, etc) or a meal with my husband and each time the food has been fantastic. The service is great, lovely atmosphere and you are not rushed. Any celebrations we have in the future we will definitely come back to Bistro Franc.
Bistro Franc – Liverpool City CentreThis is without doubt a great restaurant. Living locally we have enjoyed a few good meals!! However, i booked the restaurant for my husbands birthday and we took our three sons (9-12 yrs)- bad idea. We felt obliged because of the atmosphere to constantly try and keep the boys quiet. Even worst when we came out they were still hungry and we had to buy them fish & chips (conveniently situated along the same row of shops!) Still, the boys have never forgotten their dads birthday meal!!
Fraiche Restaurant – OxtonI have just come back from Yums and the only thing i would say is that its cheaper than going for a colonic irrigation!! The toilet sign said 'upstairs' and when i went up there I seen what I could only describe as a lab, creating their own penicillin in a load of buckets spewn round the place collecting water dripping from the ceiling that looked like it had been there a decade!!! I had to jump over the buckets to see if the ladies were down the hallway which I think they were but there was noooooo way I was going to go any nearer! The menus on the tables were grubby with dirty black fingerprints on them, the walls looked like there was old blood dripping down it. The bar was full of dirty glasses for the whole of my duration in the place and I burned my hand trying to get some dried up egg fu yung with the plastic spoon that was near to melting point!!! My recommendation is to steer clear of it! I read further up the blog that its good to go there later on.....yes.....much later on....when your that bladdered you wouldn't care if they served the food off of the floor!!!! It makes you wonder what the kitchen is like. The gents toilets' taps nearly fell off in my boyfriends hands, the dryer had cold air. There was fungi in the toilets......I could go on and on!!!!! In a nutshell - go to Maccy D's - I think it would be much healthier!!!!!!
Yums Oriental Buffet – Liverpool City CentreWent to savina on Sunday with a large number of friends(45 to be exact) and was once again really really pleased by the warm friendly atmosphere of the staff. Food was fantastic as always(my sixth time dining here) and considering it was such a large booking not much of a wait at all.Savina is a must for any Mexican food lover and the standards are very high compared to other Mexican restaurants we have visited! All my friends agreed it's a true must try restaurant and many said they will be visiting again very soon :)
Savina – Liverpool City CentreA little known and seemingly under appreciated small bistro in Birkdale. Recently had the lamb & ham dishes, both cooked to perfection. Decently sized portions, anything extra not needed as such excellent quality food. All reasonably priced, where as other restaurants would charge well over the odds for the same dishes. Will definitely be returning again soon.
The Retreat – SouthportFound esteban in the Liverpool good food guide. I came on Halloween and the atmosphere was lovely. Definitely best kebabs in Liverpool! Staff looked great in costume, not too sure about the witch that was floating about though. Reasonably priced as well. Next time we're on the lane we're coming back
Esteban Mediterranean Tapas – AigburthOk atmosphere & well presented restaurant. Food (enchilada & burrito, nachos) were good, but couldn't help thinking basically the same as your standard 'Brewer's Fayre' type. Possibly frozen meals dinged in the microwave? Prices were acceptable. May go again.
Savina – Liverpool City CentreI have walked past this restaurant many times on my way to work and thought about popping in, after finishing work one night at 10pm and not many places of quality still open I thought I would give it a go. It was fairly obviously when we entered that they would have preferred an early night rather than one last table but the service and food after the initial minute or two was fantastic. Pigeon breast followed by Lamb was amazing and all for not a lot of money. Will definitely be back at a more reasonable hour
Bistro Franc – Liverpool City CentreReally enjoyed the food nice and spicy
Savina – Liverpool City CentreCant understand why I am the first to do a recommendation on this lovely restaurant! Have been to Bistro Pierre many times over the years and found Bistro Franc a month ago and had a brilliant lunch. Last night we booked for the Pre-Theatre menu at 6.00 and arrived to find the place almost full to bursting. The service from all the staff was absolutely fantastic - they were SO busy, SO professional and SO pleasant! The Maitre d runs a very tight ship and the result is a great experience for everyone. Absolutely couldn't fault it - fantastic meal and SUCH good value - I don't know how they do it. Thank you all x
Bistro Franc – Liverpool City CentreI came here a few times a couple of years ago and always really enjoyed it, the staff were friendly and attentive, the food was reasonably priced with good portion sizes and everything was clean. Last night was a different story. While reading this please bear in mind I'm not a food snob in the slightest, we were debating nandos/chinese and ended up going for a chinese. Four of us arrived and the waiter said 'go over there in the corner' and handed us one menu. The table cloth was dirty. Eventually one of the female staff members we recognised from coming a few years ago apologetically came over with more menus and took our drinks orders. Then the waiter came for us to order our food. We decided to go for a banquet for 4 and change some of the mains, the waiter laughed and said it would cost £2.50 extra. He didn't make it clear if this was per head of per meal that we changed, so we had to keep asking him til he made it clear that it was £2.50 extra per head! The banquet was already £17.80 per head and the difference between the meals we were trying to swap was clearly not £2.50 a head, so the waiter said he would go and check. He came back and confirmed this. We said it didn't make sense, so he offered to go and get his manager, we agreed...then he just stood there! We decided to get a banquet for three and my boyfriend ordered his own main. Now in this and most other Chinese restaurants, when I order a banquet I expect the starters to be a portion of each, and that was our logic so that my boyfriend could share the starters with us but not have to pay £10 extra to change meals around! Starters turned up...3 bowls of soup (we expected that, fair enough) but it wasn't very hot. Then they put out 4 plates (one dirty which we changed) 3 ribs, 3 quarters of prawn toast, 3 satay sticks and 3 spring rolls...and a bit of seaweed in the middle. I was not happy in the slightest, but the staff didn't come over once to check if the food was ok, only came to ask if we wanted more drinks when they were clearing the table. I'm not one that likes to complain so I didn't know what to do/say, ended up not saying anything. Then the duck came. Two legs and 12 pancakes...it probably equated to a quarter duck. The mains came, in fairness they were really tasty and on dishes the size you'd get at a normal banquet, but the rice was a bit cold. My boyfriend had ordered his own chicken fried rice and this wasn't very hot but he said it was ok. Then we had the usual fruit at the end. We had to wait ages to find a member of staff we could ask for the bill, then had to get up and go to the till ourselves to pay. I left feeling full but ripped off. My boyfriend left feeling hungry and ripped off. We didn't feel like we had been treated as valued customers or even customers, we were practically ignored. The portions might have needed be down sized in the recession but it stops people coming back for more. Used to love it here so really disappointed. Won't recommend. Won't be visiting again. No wonder it was empty in there.
China City – Liverpool City CentreWent for the first time last night. Absolutely wonderful! Service was excellent, staff friendly and helpful. Seasonal produce superbly cooked and presented. Cannot praise Bistrot Verite highly enough. Looking forward to going again.. and again.. and again!!
Bistrot Verite – SouthportI went for a working lunch with 10 colleagues and have to say this place was fantastic. The food was of a superb quality, and stater and main course was served within a hour, with a drink (san miguel), all for £9.40. It was just enough to not leave me uncomfortably full, and perfect for a lunchtime bite - highly recommended and the service was second to none, unlike other venues in Liverpool one.
Las Iguanas – Liverpool City CentreWOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT AFTER THE WAY THE MANAGER SPOKE TO US ON THE TELEPHONE REGARDING A BOOKING. HE WAS VERY RUDE AND UNPLEASANT. WE'VE BEEN GOING THERE EVERY YEAR BUT WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN. THE STAFF WERE PLEASANT BUT THE MANAGER NEEDS A LESSON IN POLITENESS.
