Beijing Chinese Restaurant – Prescotwe must have been very unlucky to visit Alma de Cuba this Christmas Eve as the chef's must have been at home waiting for Santa and left the ghosts (said to haunt the place) to cook the meals.......I returned my stone cold, watery, grey coloured pumpkin and cumin soup and another returned their sardines on a piece of rock hard crusty bread....worse to come was the dry cardboard effect turkey!!I can't begin to describe the Christmas pudding ..it had been moulded in a batter baking tray and looked like a mini frizzby and tasted of pure grease....thankfully a few bottles of wine helped.......£155 quid down the drain we won't be going there for food anymore....maybe just drinks as the building is still worth a look.
Alma De Cuba – Liverpool City CentreWENT ON BOXING DAY, LOVELY FOOD AND AS ALWAYS GREAT SERVICE..LOVELY PLACE TO EAT.
Lux Garden Restaurant – AintreeVisited here in December with friends & had a fantastic meal with excellent service as usual, despite several large parties where eating at the same time Staff here can't do more to help and the food is beautiful, my mum even asked for extra sauce for the cheesecake which was no problem! Definitely worth a try, fantastic value set meals and also lots of choice on a la carte
Enzo’s Piazza Italia – MoretonThe food her is always lovely - freshly made to order and actually tastes authentic! Staff are very pleasant & helpful and there's always a good atmosphere
NICE LOVELY WELCOMING REATURANT I WILL DEFINATELY BE PAYING ANOTHER VISIT
Nicola’s Ristorante – WaterlooWhat a place! I love Spire, it's probably the best place i've been in Liverpool. It's cosy and the service has always been exceptional. The food is amazing, never had a complaint about any of the dishes i've ever tried. We have booked in for New Years Eve and i'm already licking my lips in anticipation!
Spire – WavertreeWe thought we would give this place a try - as the usual (U.N.I.) was shut. Firstly there was a hair in one of our starters and the salad was old and brown. The main courses were horrible, the rice had a funny smell to it the curry was bland. The only spicy thing we had was the pickle chutney. Would not recommend this place.
Master Chef Tandoori Restaurant – Liverpool City Centresorry but we as a group visited Jalons on 14th December 07 for Christmas lunch booked for 1pm. We had to knock for the door to open the place was freezing cold, the service was poor and the food - processed turkey, overcooked veg and at least 1/2 packet of salt thrown in for good measure or for taste. Desserts were no better. The place was empty -only 9 of us in for the lunch and would not allow us to move from the window area which was freezing. Not to be recommended
Jalons – WavertreeNice pub, OK atmosphere, but a disgusting man for a landlord, be a nice place without him
The Hightown – FormbyVisited Savina at the weekend with 7 friends and we all had a great time, the food was delicious & the service was good too, particularly as it was one of the busiest weekends before Christmas. I would highly recommend Savina to anyone.
Savina – Liverpool City CentreI love this place! It's not a place to go for a fancy sit down meal but a it's great for a quick, relaxed and easy meal. The portions are big and the food is cheap, but delicious. Always full of fresh veg and loads of flavour, never have any complaints. Free green tea and the fantastic portions of seaweed are my favourite.
Tokyou – Liverpool City Centrea new menu and the food is excellent. would certainly recommend it if you like something a little different.
Schmooze Wine Bar and Eatery – Mossley HillFood is excellent, cannot fault the food, every meal I have had is top quality and reasonably priced. Wine is excellent. My partner and I have been many times and with family. Its great for romantic or family occasions. The atmosphere is excellent, staff, you cannot fault them, staff are very efficient and attentive every time. I know very few restaurants who have the qualities:excellent food, excellent atmosphere, excellent staff and reasonably priced
Auberge Brasserie – SouthportMezze is a friendly and pleasant little place, good staff and ambience. The food is fresh, tasty and authentic, very much reminding us of the last time we were in Turkey. It tastes clean of the usual rubbish (too much salt, msg, etc)and we had no unpleasant after effects!. This has all been true every time we have gone.
Mezze – WallaseyThe Barking Frog was a wonderful surprise. We had just wandered in from a wine and cheese tasting at the Chateau Ste. Michelle on a Wed night and decided we just wanted a 'bite to eat'. Well, we decided on 'going for the gusto' and having the tasting menu with the wine pairing. The meal was flawless. If Michelin stars could be awarded here in the USA as in Europe, then barking frog is definitely at least a two star (three being the highest). There are meals that stand out and are permanently etched in your memory for me - a three star Michelin in the Netherlands, a two star Michelin in Brussels, the 'Lampreia' in Seattle and now the Barking Frog (in all my international travels) stand out as dinners you will always remember. The 5 course tasting menu dinner was highly original ...somehow not something I would expect in 'Woodinville'. The consome with foie gras and cherry was amazingly tasteful and well balanced. The pork cheeks were the most original in that the sauce was an equivalent of what's called 'speculaas' in Holland...cookies and many sweets are made of this flavour combination which is not found in America. It is a combination of anisette, and cinnamon and licorice - very surprising to find these flavours alongside the pork cheeks...this chef knows how to please the palate...it was absolutely delicious. And the mint ice cream with pure dark choc bits and REAL MINT ...wow... I will never be able to eat any other kind of mint ice cream again after having tasted this one ...makes you realize that everything else in the 'mint department' is so 'artificial' tasting by comparison. I have no faults to find with the meal we had...it was to be totally hones - absolutely flawless! Barking Frog you've got me hooked!
The Barking Frog – SouthportHi i have recently had a delicious meal at the monro 8th December 2007. Really enjoyed our Christmas meal not too crowded, as i thought it would be, even though its booked up. As usual the monro does not let you down. For starters goats cheese spring rolls, lovely! I had seabass and my friend had cod for mains. And a lovely chocolate mousse to end. For a whole £20.00 per head. Best value in town. I would always book in advance if you want specific dates as this place is always popular!!
The Monro – Liverpool City Centrevalue for money. spacious and friendly staff. definitely recommendable.
