Allerton Hall – WooltonI visited this restaurant last year and have been planning to go back ever since. I took my boyfriend there as a birthday surprise. We visited Liverpool for 4 days and nights from Ireland and I had spent a very long time researching which restaurant would be the best to bring someone as a birthday present. This restaurant exceeded our expectations. It is the best restaurant I have eaten in a number of years. The service is excellent and the ambiance is the best you ill get. As for the food, that speaks for itself. This restaurant is priced as it should be for a top restaurant. You will not be disappointed by this beautiful place.
60 Hope Street – Liverpool City CentreHave eaten at Malmaison a number of times either with a party of friends or as an two-some and have always thoroughly enjoyed the food and service. They really do the best fish and chips !. One of the few places were the head chef is seen talking to the patrons. and taking an interest. A great night out.
Malmaison Brasserie – Liverpool City CentreMe and my partner were extremely disappointed with the service received this particular night at this restaurant. When we arrived the place was almost empty and we went and sat upstairs. Towards the end of our meal 1 member of staff cept coming to see if we had finished and we felt as though we had to rush our meal. To our dismay, as if we weren't hurrying enough, this member of staff ended up switching the lights off on us! Needless to say we never returned to this restaurant again. Clearly this guy had no customer service skills or had simply had a very bad day!
Mamma Mia Pizzeria – SouthportWe found this restaurant very disappointing. As it was busy we were sent upstairs to a large plain room that needed decorating. The service was fine, but the food was very expensive for what it was - very ordinary. It was not very hot and the restaurant did not use candle food warmers unlike many Chinese restaurants. We shall not return.
Mei Mei – Liverpool City CentreI have been here twice now on family visits to the area. One visit we had tea and cake and the other we stayed for dinner. I thought The Quarter was great both times. Being a lactose-intolerant vegetarian, I was very pleased that the chef was adaptable! I had garlic bread made with olive oil rather than butter and for my main meal I had pasta with tomato sauce, olives and sun blushed tomatoes, which was fabulous. Portions were a good size too! Sadly there were no dairy- free desserts, but I must admit that I was too full to have been able to eat one anyway! We didn't have to wait too long for our order, but I can imagine that at very busy times you might have to wait a while - but that's the compromise when you have lovely freshly made meals rather than the standard microwave stuff that you get in most places. Atmosphere was good, with a studenty, laid back feel about it. Artworks and photos adorn the walls (many for sale). I really felt comfortable here and will definitely be returning next time I'm back in Liverpool!
The Quarter – Liverpool City Centrewe found this restaurant via sugarvine to stop for a meal after the southport airshow on 23/9/07 and what a good idea it was, in fact we broke our Greek restaurant virginity here and we didn't have a clue what to order. So we opted for the "othellos greek mezedes banquet" when asked by maria which bread we would like we told her it was all new to us, surprise us if you wish, which she did, throughout the fantastic, very enjoyable 18 dishes that followed she explained everything to us, the names of everything and what they were, and even how to eat it...!! As a chef myself i was impressed with the quality, freshness and presentation of the food, Gerry you are a great chef and you did us proud...........!! The decor in the restaurant is very nice, authentic looking with greek music in the background, very clean and well maintained. So overall a great experience, fantastic food and would thoroughly recommend othellos, we are not local to the area, but next time we are in the area we WILL be returning. Many Thanks
Othellos – WooltonA wonderful chinese restaurant, the staff are very welcoming and very knowledgeable about the menu, the beer was perfect, the food was the best I have ever had the pleasure of having! 10/10! Make a booking though, it was very busy last Friday night! apmc
New Orchid Garden – West DerbyAfter reading so many promising recommendations, I decided to come here for my birthday. The service was very slow, almost none existent, and the menu was far from inspiring. I chose Halloumi for a starter which was drowned in balsamic vinegar and completely spoiled. My main was roast beef, which was acceptable and the vegetables were crisp and tasty. I did not have the experience I had expected and as Liverpool now has so many excellent eateries from which to choose, I won't return. I had high hopes from the great reviews, but for me, not on this occasion
The Monro – Liverpool City CentreWow i thought Yum's was really nice the food was great! they had a wide range of selection on the starters main and most of the desserts but they only had chocolate ice cream haha! but overall this is a boss restaurant!
Yums Oriental Buffet – Liverpool City CentreEverytime we book we look forward to going. The food, service and atmosphere are great. There is always someone on hand and the chefs and their shows are great. The quality of the ingredients are excellent and I'd recommend here to everyone. Children will enjoy it too, though it'll work out fairly expensive taking then, so be warned. Also it's best to book to avoid disappointment.
Sapporo Teppanyaki Liverpool – Liverpool City CentreWent to try the newly refurbished Punch Bowl for my son's 15th Birthday on 20/9/07. We were very disappointed with certain aspects of the evening: the 'distressed look' table was sticky and we needed to ask the waitress to wipe it, which she did happily. The food: the fillet steak was poor quality, tough, with a piece of grissle attached, potatoes were swimming in old oil, chicken breast was tough, we will not be recommending this pub to our many friends
Punch Bowl – WaterlooAfter reading the extensive collection of reviews posted here, I am beginning to wonder was I at the same place? The floor show is fantastic and the service is faultless, but the food was very disappointing. I had the only vegetarian main course on the menu (maybe this was the problem)and received noodles, and a very small handful of veg, cooked in tomato ketchup and pepper!cost = £11.95! Having tasted vegetarian pan Asian food in may other restaurants around the country I know they can do better!.A good night of fun, but less than average food if you don't eat meat and fish.
Sapporo Teppanyaki Liverpool – Liverpool City CentreUnable to cope with large group of people even though we had told them we would be coming in. would'nt let us move tables so we could sit together. our group had to sit on two tables with there backs to each other and two of the group had to sit on there own at a table in the middle of the room. very disappointed and what money they have lost as none of our group will return.
Bakers Dozen – BootleWhat a restaurant, I had my hen-night party here when it first opened, and nothing has changed since then, the food has to be the best, not something you would expect from an average mexican restaurant. I had my honeymoon in Mexico and visited some of there restaurants, there aren’t many modern mexican restaurants around but when you find one you are in for a treat. Savina is however a fantastic modern mexican restaurant, the decor in the restaurant is modern and the music and ambience is wonderful. The staff haven’t changed and the food is consistent as always. I have convinced my work colleagues to have our Christmas Party here as they are having live music on, and I can't wait. I love Savina and there should be more around the north west (I live in St Helens) I recommend Savina to everyone and wouldn’t hesitate recommending it to Sugarvine!!!! A++++'s allround!!
Savina – Liverpool City CentreAn excellent experience! Food was better than I expected - delightful sushi, perfect fillet steak, dessert was out of this world. Fantastic atmosphere and a must for anyone who loves japanese cooking.
Sapporo Teppanyaki Liverpool – Liverpool City CentreThe portrait house is fab I love it and the butternut squash mash is a reason on its own to go. atmosphere is great and so are the staff, and yay they have just put tables and chairs out for us smokers!
The Portrait House – HoylakeWe couldn't get a table at the 'normal' eating times on a saturday night so were booked in at 6. We weren't the only ones there, a large party and at least 3 other couples which shows the popularity of the place. The decor was modern and fresh but created an intimate atmosphere with a dining layout on different levels and a mixture of booths and tables. The food was fantastic! My partner had the ribs to start and they were the cleanest looking ribs after he finished! I had a very generous piece of Tuna for my main that I couldn't finish. Neither of us had space to try the puddings. To put it simply, we will be going back.
