Did we just catch them on a bad night? My wife and I have visited RED on several occasions with varying sized groups and always found the food to be excellent so knowing that former RED staff had opened Momentum we thought it had to be worth a try.It ended up as a bit of a disaster. On arrival there was no one to greet us and when the barman eventually acknowledged us we were pointed to the bar area to wait. Everything then seemed to be running in slow motion. The drinks took an age to be brought over to us. We ordered and some time later we were shown to our table. it was 20 minutes more before our starters arrived so why were we sat at the table when the food clearly wasn't ready? Another minor point but the napkins clearly hadn't seen an iron but that seemed to be just our table. The salmon and cucumber starter that I had was, in my view, one of the blandest dishes I've ever had. I did mention this to our waitress ( there was only one for the whole place) and wasn't charged but no one asked what I found wrong. My wife had scallops and squid which she found tast but I don't like to see scallops sliced into thin slices. Perhaps indicates a cost saving effort? The mains then arrived and the wine I ordered to go with it arrived some time after we had started the mains. I had the rabbit cassoulet which was ok but nothing to write home about. The sauce tasted over-reduced and bitter. My wife had the liver which was a generous serving only matched by the caramelised cauliflower that filled most of the plate but was so 'sloppy' it was difficult to eat. The lime didn't fit either. The after dinner coffee was excellent - I believe it is supplied by Exchange Coffee and they are very good. The meal was a special occasion and I really can't remember a dining experience that has disappointed me so much - and I so wanted it to be otherwise.Sorry but I'm not coming back
