Bilash Balti House – SwintonSat 16.07.11.Arrived 5 mins before our table booked for. We were left stood at the front door for 5 mins (even though 2 members of staff looked at us twice each), eventually we had to walk into the restaurant to get acknowledged. We were seated at a wobbly table and left for another 15 mins before we were even asked did we want a drink. Food was very nice but the service was awful. The manager blamed it on staff ringing in sick but reading other reviews they must suffer with a lot of sickness!!!!! Not somewhere we will be rushing back to.
Stock Restaurant – Manchester City Centrehad a lovely lunch there last week and the service was really good as well I think it was Nuno who served us. Just one small thing you are advertising an offer for £8.95 for one course with a glass of wine which is why we went there from Lymm and it wasn't offered to us.
Gusto – Alderley EdgeTook my boyfriend to Sul Lago for a meal on his birthday, lovely restaurant, excellent food & service... Would recommend to anyone & will definitely be dinning there again soon :-)
Sul Lago – OldhamMy wife and I went to Greens for something a bit different (neither of us are veggies) and to be honest we were a little disappointed. Whilst the menu contained lots of enticing choices, the reality didn't quite match. The goats cheese starter didn't have a lot of goats cheese, the puff pastry parcel was very dry, and there was definitely not enough raita, and the cheese and sage sausages were relatively tasteless (think Linda McCartney standard). As for the service, whilst I acknowledge that it was reasonably busy (ie not full but not empty either) I was rather annoyed that we had to wait in excess of 40 minutes between starter and main course, without any explanation. In summary I think the concept of the restaurant (and its celebrity owner) are better than the reality. We've ticked it off the list and won't be going back.
Greens – DidsburyThe Banyan Tree is a fantastic restaurant. I've eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner there and it is lovely. The decor is beautiful. It's casual and sophisticated at the same time. Very reasonably priced, and extremely good quality food. I would recommend it for everyone!
The Banyan Tree – HulmeI visited this hole on the 9 July 2011 for a Hen party, in which there was 19 in our party. This was the first time in approximately 20 years since I had last gone to this restaurant and it will definitely be the last. Firstly I am not sure how they passed the Health & Safety inspection as the tiling on the floors was so badly damaged it was precarious to walk on. Secondly, we paid £25pp for the banquet which was not only a rip off as we did not get all the dishes as advertised and the quality of the food left little to be desired. An example was a plate smaller than a usual sized dinner plate with a heaped mess passed as a Mousaka which someone had likened to dog food and which was cold. Despite complaining we never even received an apology other than that they would bring more food out which we never received (not that we could have stomached anymore of this sub-standard muck). I have been to Greece on many occasions and many other restaurants of various nationalities but have never experienced this disgrace. Shame on you Bousouki! This was definitely not value or quality for the £25.00pp. It was a complete rip off and you should be brought to task for day light robbery!
Bouzouki By Night – Manchester City CentreDreadful experience. Treated very badly from start to finish. Food nice but everything else terrible.
Zouk Tea Bar – Manchester City CentreI have been to the restaurant for more than 3 years now. The quality of the food has probably stayed the same but a few other factors contributing to the nature of service have changed for the worse. Take today for example. Their credit card machine was not working and I didn't have any cash. So they suggested that I fetch cash leaving my son behind as a collateral security. Not a restaurant that I would like to go back to.
Buffet City – Manchester City Centrevery busy, full of chavs from the near by council estate but does a good carvery.
Micker Brook – CheadleThis restaurant is a really great addition to Bury. We are regulars at San Carlo and Don Giovanni in Manchester the food at this restaurant is on a par with both. The fish was superb with an excellent choice of wine too
Santino Restaurant – BuryAte here yesterday with four work colleagues had a lovely lunchtime meal and fantastic service. Thank You
Ciao Napoli – BoltonUtterly brilliant! With so many restaurants in West Didsbury it might be difficult to decide where to go but The Bistro never lets you down. Wonderful food, service and great value for money. I visit with friends, family, work colleagues and work clients and always enjoy the evening. The menu is terrific and the specials always offer even more variety. Whenever you visit you are always made to feel welcome by all staff, including the chef! Thank you once again for such an enjoyable night!
Bistro West 156 – DidsburyOMG this is wine geek heaven! Downstairs there is cellar after cellar and case after case of fantastic Bordeaux, Burgundy, Grange etc. You could spend literally hours (and thousands!) in here and I almost did both. This place more than gives Byrnes in Clitheroe a run for its money. The thing is though, unless you are in the know you would never think to go downstairs into the cellars – they should definitely promote this more in the store.
T. Wright – HorwichWent last night to Isinglass after what must be a 6 year gap and was very impressed with the new outfit. We'd only gone twice after it first opened because we were so underwhelmed by what had been on offer on both those occasions. Despite being new the place was drab and uninspiring and there seemed to be a bit of an obsession with kale on the menu - not a veg that's ever really done it for me! This was hugely disappointing because in a sea of curry houses, this had promised to be the bright culinary star that Urmston has lacked for years. It's now been taken over by a brother (Anthony) and sister team and Wow - what a difference! The place is brighter and both the food and service were very good. They've got some new wines coming in including an Amarone, and are going to start serving Prosecco by the glass which is for me a gauge of any halfway decent restaurant. I won't go back to anywhere that doesn't so Isinglass can look forward to lots more visits from me on this alone, however, it deserves visiting for far more than this. If like me you've give given it a wide berth over the last 5 years because of it's previous lacklustre facade, interior and food, check it out soon - I'm sure you won't be disappointed now!
Isinglass – UrmstonI had one heck of a great meal at this fantastic restaurant the other week. The sushi/sashimi platter was excellent, and the Beef Teriyaki was supreme. I shall definitely be visiting again, and hope to do so regularly.
Tokyo Season – Manchester City CentreWhat a little gem this is. The Veggie and Vegan selection is fantastic and created by people who know how to be creative with the ingredients. It's worth a trip to Wigan simply to pop in.
The Coven – WiganI went to San Carlo on Thursday for a late lunch with a friend. I have been very satisfied by the quality of the food. I had lobster which was fresh and prepared to perfection. First, I was a bit unconfident to order seafood because of a bad experience in another well known restaurant few months ago but I saw the waiter bring a lobster to the table next to us and it seemed really nice. Indeed, it was delicious! Finally, I have found a restaurant that can offer good value for money and a good service.
