Party of 5 adults and 1 infant This restaurant came highly recommended so we decided to have a Sunday lunch there (3/01/10). We arrived 13.00 with the car park more than half full. A good sign as the weather was still sub zero and had been for more than a week. There had been little attempt to clear the compact ice over the majority of the car park making it very slippery under foot. How the elderly or children would managed to gain access to the restaurant without falling was a miracle. There were two menus available with a good selection of meals catering for most people. We opted for the restaurant menu but the bar meals were very tempting. We chose the starters, breaded mushrooms and selected the traditional roast beef dinner and the braised beef for the main course. The meal served was a disappointment. The roast beef was tender and cooked to perfection but the portion size was small. The braised beef was a little more generous. The veg, carrots and cabbage were in a serving dish (cold). The roast potatoes were tasty and hot. I might be wrong but the small Yorkshire pudding was just like Aunt Bessie's (???). We ordered sweets from a selection of 6. They were satisfying The cost of 5 starters/ main course and 4 sweets was £48. Very reasonable but I'd rather pay more and enjoy my meal. 5/10 (1 point deducted for the lack of consideration clearing the ice from the car park)
