El Rincon de Rafa – Manchester City CentreThis has got to be the finest restaurant in Stockport if not Manchester!! The food is fantastic and the service is A1. The owner David makes you feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble for him. If you don't like what you see on the menu he will do his up most to accomodate you. The building is Air conditioned and as it is only a small restaurant it can sometimes be a little chilly so take a jumper to wear just in case. I recommend the Dim Sum which has the biggest prawn toast I have seen!! Enjoy!!!!!
Jasmine House – StockportBeing a sunny day, I fancied lunch al fresco. Dukes sprang to mind. They serve pate and cheese with a big wedge of bread. It filled the spot and it's a nice spot to get filled!
Dukes 92 – Manchester City CentreIf you're going for an average chinese then don't bother with Yang Sing because it can offer the regular chinese food but it will be only average and pricey too. If you want Dim Sum, then I can recommend Yang Sing although the Dim Sum menu isn't as varied as you'll find in London, it's certainly different and reasonably priced. You'll find me there for Dim Sum, but for everything it's just too pricey for what you get.
Yang Sing – Manchester City CentreA very nice Thai restaurant which does all the regular dishes plus a few extras. Service is always on the ball, never too much or too little. Thai food is always a little pricey but this ranks at the higher end of the park.
Koh Samui Thai Restaurant – Manchester City CentreA very spacey restaurant tucked in a back alley off Deansgate. The food offers nice little Tapas' but as with a lot of Tapas, the wallet gets hurt before the stomach gets satisfied.
El Rincon de Rafa – Manchester City CentreWe had the vegetarian platter and it was good quality but nothing very different. For the price at £13 pp on a vegetarian meal it was quite expensive for the portions. There are others in Manchester who do it better, in no quite as nice surroundings for less money.
Dimitri’s Tapas Bar Taverna – Manchester City CentreAll I can say is that ANY restaurant that can induce me to climb a veritable Matterhorn of stairs MUST have something about it. The Pearl City certainly has that! It features great dim sum (including, for my money, some of the best cheung fun rice rolls in town!) There's very little to fault here - a good, reliable Chinese! If only they had a lift....
Pearl City Cantonese Restaurant – Manchester City CentreSteaks are fantastic, the best I have had. Even the potato wedges were absolutely superb. Place is too big during the week as there aren't enough people to fill the room so atmosphere isn't great - go when it is busy
Gaucho – Manchester City CentreThis long-established restaurant still retains its original wine-bar atmosphere, with under-sized tables, plank floors, and informality. Don't expect luxury or slick trendiness here, but do expect to eat well. There is an extensive a la carte menu -- expect £60+ for 3 courses plus modest wine for two - and cheaper, but more restricted fixed price menus. Food is carefully cooked and well-presented, and obviously appreciated by the relaxed clientele on the very busy Thursday night I visited. Yes, packed on a Thursday! The big let-down is the clumsy service. Well-meaning, friendly young people dash and bumble around, but a few well-trained waiters would do much to justify the prices.
Francs Restaurant – AltrinchamRecently reopened after extensive refurbishment, and now much larger. The food is still great - possibly the best in Chinatown - with some truly innovative dishes. Really helpful staff, who seem genuinely pleased you're there!
Little Yang Sing – Manchester City CentreThe New Emperor is my current favourite. When ever I'm in Manchester for the night, this is the restaurant that I go to. All the meals that I've eaten there have been very good, but I'm still only about 1/5 through the menu! The service is great, there's always someone near to help you and you get service with a smile. The ambience is very good. The restaurant is fairly large, yet when ever I've been (Saturdays) it's always been very busy. The price for the meals is pretty good. It's about the average price for china town, but like I said, the quality of the food is very good. I've got no hesitation in recommending the New Emperor to anyone who likes Chinese food.
New Emperor – Manchester City CentreAfter a days hiking we fancied some traditional british fayre and the Chop House did not disappoint. I had steak and kidney pudding which was truly homemade and delicious! The place is spot on!!
Sam’s Chop House – Manchester City CentreThe upper restaurant serves Thai dishes that are simply the best in Greater Manchester (from one who has tried the majority of Thai restaurants). Also worth visiting at lunchtime for the buffet which is great value and families are made welcome.
Pacific – Manchester City CentreEverything about this restaurant, from the exceptional food to the basket of hand towels in the toilets, oozes sophistication. The atmosphere is stylish and comfortable without being pretentious and the service is fabulous. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody, and although the prices are slightly above average, it is a small price to pay for such an enjoyable evening. Thank you!
Pacific – Manchester City CentreStill a hinden gem, thank God. My favorite restaurant in Manchester. Every birthday/special occasion you'll find me here! Lovely :-)
Koreana – Manchester City CentreThe best ever steak I have ever tasted. I am a chef and this was out of this world! I would gladly eat here every day if I could! A massive steak came along with what looked like a butter knife (unlike the scary steak knives you get in other British places) but, it was cooked to perfection and I think I could have cut the steak up with a spoon! Superb.
Gaucho – Manchester City CentreItslovely food but a bit too expensive for what you get. Nice to take your Mum to on Mothers Day. She'll be impressed that her veggie meal cost the earth.
