Barley Sheaf Hotel – BarnsleyI highly recommend this pub for there meals. It is a friendly service.
Barley Sheaf Hotel – BarnsleyIve eaten at Mezzaluna twice, after moving back to Barnsley from Wakefield, so I thought I'd do my bit and give it a review as I use sugarvine alot to choose where to eat. First of all, price wise, its not cheap. For two people with two courses and a few drinks (no bottle of wine) it came to £90. They also add in their own gratuity, which I don't like as I like to choose to tip accordingly. Service wise, the staff are attentive and polite, but the atmosphere just lacks something. Food wise, if you dont eat at Italian restaurants too much you will enjoy your food. I had baked mozzarella with a tomato sauce to start, which was pleasant, but slightly cold. My partner had a tuna to start, which was hugely over proportioned ( basically a whole can of tuna with salad leaves around it), it wasn't terrible but wasnt anything special either. Ive had both the veal and parma ham main course and the seafood pasta. The veal was well cooked, but the whole dish was slightly too salty. The seafood pasta was extremely disappointing, the seafood consisted of alot of cockles, a few mussels and some burned and rubbery baby octopus. The sauce also lacked any real flavour. I also noticed that in the three times we've visited, the specials board has been exactly the same, which is disappointing. My review may seem harsh, but as someone who loves Italian food, I have had far better, and for far less money. I would suggest you look for a restaurant on northgate in Wakefield if you really want to have an amazing night, the staff are just lovely. The service is second to none, and with various treats like free bread and dips, complementary limoncello after meals, and sometimes free tomato and garlic pizza breads ( which are delicious!) and a huge range of fresh seafood and a huge specials board, you wont be disappointed. Its also very reasonably priced. I'll definitely be making the journey back here in future.
Mezzaluna Ristorante – BarnsleyGreat Food, but staff are so busy the service is crap
China Court Restaurant – Barnsleyi live near china moon so go quite often it is really good quality food at reasonable prices with a warm welcome and friendly service. i would recommend everyone to try it as theres something for everyone and the food is delicious.
China Moon – BarnsleyThis restaurant is always a must for us whether we are celebrating or just want a fantastic meal great service and brilliant outstanding value for money. We have been customers for dining in the lovely decorated restaurant or a great takeaway for over 10 years now... The food is so nice infact we have not found a dish we don’t like. Trust me we have tried them all. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough. So please take my word for it and go and see for yourself you won’t be disappointed.
China Court Restaurant – Barnsleywow - fantastic - went on valentines day 2009, perfect - perfect atmosphere, perfect food and people!!
Bistro Romanos – BarnsleyBeatson House is one of those little treasures that hide away just waiting to be discovered. We were there just before Christmas and its such a refreshing change to have good food and good service. Its not stuffy there just nicely well mannered. No mobile phones, no screaming kids. Only downer for me is the small car park but hey if your well fed you can ignore that minor point - McDonalds has massive car parks but it in now way improves their food!!
Beatson House Restaurant – Barnsleynever again. overpriced and under spiced. went for a takeaway in dec(monday night) food lacked flavour and both main dishes tasted alike. also very expensive. will not return and in future will travel that bit further to agraah Wakefield for our takeaways. some people in barnsley rave about this place but i think they have never travelled outside the area for a good Indian
The Original Dilraj – Barnsleymediocre Italian restaurant. We dined there last month and after having read such rave reviews, we came away feeling a little disapointed......still searching for that perfect Italian restaurant in the Barnsley area
Mezzaluna Ristorante – BarnsleyDilraj is an excellent restaurant to visit. The food is well prepared and the staff are very attentive, it is a place to visit time and time again
The Original Dilraj – BarnsleyTop notch food in great surroundings. It's what Hoyland has needed for years and I hope this spells a revival for the town.
