Village Inn – Barrow-in-FurnessMany local people consider this pub to be the place to go for good grub but on my last couple of visits the food and service have not been up to scratch and the prices are on the high side for what you get. Large portions yes but quality?.....mmmh??

White Lion Inn – Barrow-in-FurnessI was visiting my friends in England(me from N.Y,USA). And we wet to The Ship Inn for lunch, The food was excellent and the staff was great!!!!! I expected the bill to be about 100 pounds and only came to 48 pounds!! That was for the 4 of us!! We all had a great time and left The Ship Inn with full stomachs!!! The apple pie with custard(my first time having custard like that and on apple pie) was fantastic!! I will be back to England in about 6 months and will be going back to The Ship Inn again.

Ship Inn At Roose – Barrow-in-FurnessWe were a family of 8 one being a 9 month old baby we were told we could not bring the pushchair in to the restaurant area, due to this it spoiled our meal as it was rushed so the baby could go to sleep in his pushchair. the steaks that were ordered were over done we were asked to cut into them before we ate them, the chef should have known if they were cooked it is his job as it was they were over cooked and not eaten. So although this says it is child friendly it is not baby friendly.
Ship Inn At Roose – Barrow-in-FurnessFantastic as always. Thank you
Ship Inn At Roose – Barrow-in-FurnessWent here on Fathers Day, got a phone call day before to confirm reservation (nice touch). However the time we were given when we booked and the time they told us on this phone call were different by 30 mins. We arrived at 12.30, place fairly quiet, I heard a few diners moan about the wait for food and one table had all meals served bar one and he was stuck waiting, while the other diners ate. Our server came and took the order, it was over 30 mins before the food came (we only ordered mains). Food itself was good, and perhaps somewhat over garnished , with both salad and fruit. My wife had a piece of the tie that hold the Lamb joint together still in her dinner plus what seemed to be a bit of plastic in the food (she was almost finished at this point). The waitress took note and took the plate to the kitchen. The manageress came over and explained it was not plastic as it isn't used in the kitchen, it was probably a bit of hard cabbage else it was most certainly not put there by the kitchen staff, were we sure we didn't drop it in the food! That was it, no apology, it wasn't their fault, no offer of any kind made. Perhaps thats why it wasn't busy on Fathers Day. We are not going back.
Ship Inn At Roose – Barrow-in-FurnessThe staff on a Friday night are always so helpful, courteous and nothing is too much trouble for them. Thank you and please pass our thanks on to them for such hospitality, it is in sharp contrast to some service / treatment one receives these days.
Ship Inn At Roose – Barrow-in-FurnessAnother excellent meal at The Ship. Lyn, Helen & Katrina very pleasant & welcoming as always.
Ship Inn At Roose – Barrow-in-FurnessWe went for valentines night on the recommendation from this site! We had not booked as only in area visiting. Fully justified. The staff were very friendly, food was lovely. The garlic bread and scallops both fantastic and the pasta dishes also very very nice and more than enough to fill. Good value for money and will go back again if ever back in barrow!
Salvanas – Barrow-in-FurnessHad a meal here on Saturday and it was beautiful. The new Chef's menu choices would please most people. I had the steak strips in a garlic and chilli sauce and they were gorgeous. The Banofee and toffee meringue was to die for. A hidden gem in Dalton
Chequers Hotel – Barrow-in-Furnessvery nice food, good service all the family really enjoyed eating in the hotel
Abbey House Hotel – Barrow-in-FurnessI took my children there for a meal and we all had a great time. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. I believe new owners have taken over in the past year and really perked up the menu and give the place a once over. All I can say is Thanks for a fantastic dinner ad we WILL be back.
