Lebanese Village – WindsorIf you are considering going to The Shenai, I recommend that you think again. The food and house wine are OK, but when they are busy the service and logistics are hopeless. Last Friday evening, my wife and I had planned a special evening. We arrived at 1900h, and were shown to a table, but then quickly moved to a smaller table poorly lit. The party of four who took our original table were also asked to move, and a major table-rearrangement took place to accommodate a party of six 20-somethings which finished up as ten. They were accommodated by setting additional places at the end of the table, encroaching on our personal space - the end chair was only a few inches away from our table, with a blonde girl flicking her hair over our table. The waiter service deteriorated ; we had to wait 15 minutes to try to catch an eye to supply the desert menu, and the same delay when we ordered coffee - and filter coffee rather than espresso for which we had asked. I have no objection to others enjoying a Friday evening, but the noise and general pandemonium were ear-splitting. If this large party was a last-minute booking, they should have been told that the restaurant was full. Not once did a waiter enquire if everything was OK. Eventually, after a long effort to get the bill, we walked out, saying that we would contact the owner direct; but we were hassled and eventually the bill was produced and was paid. By all means go to The Shenai if you are prepared to be treated as cattle if they are busy; but otherwise there is plenty of competition in the area … so think again. Don't expose yourself to the risk of having your evening ruined like ours was. Best regards Brian
The Shenai – SandhurstMy husband and I recently had an impromptu dinner at The Boatman pub and restaurant in Windsor after taking our dog for a walk by the river. It's great that they welcome dogs - Sidney got treats and water and we had a restaurant quality meal in the bar overlooking the river. I had calves loiver which is my favourite and was delicious, and Pete had a burger. Well any chance for a gourmet burger and he takes it! Fabulous!
