Big Wok – Birmingham City CentrePurnell's is a chic, contemporary fine-dining restaurant located in one of Birmingham city centre's finest conservation areas, close to Colmore Row and St Phillips Cathedral. Set up by Michelin starred Birmingham chef, Glynn Purnell in July 2007, the 45 cover restaurant occupies a Victorian redbrick and terracotta corner building, with large windows on both sides providing plenty of natural light during the day. The restaurant has its own bar and lounge area, for diners only, where a pre-dinner cocktail or after dinner coffee or digestif can be enjoyed on comfortable sofas. Glynn Purnell’s bold and innovative cooking that has brought him critical acclaim and numerous awards including a Michelin star provides the ultimate gourmet adventure. ‘A la carte’ and ‘prix fixe’ menus are available for lunch and dinner, as well as 5 and 7 course tasting menus.
Purnell’s – Birmingham City CentreGreat food and service this is 5 star food at good prices
Opus – Birmingham City CentreI visited last night for my Birthday. Slightly disappointed to be honest. Flashes of well made food including a nice risotto which my partner had, but the menu lacked anything that jumped out at me. Very much a hotel restaurant lacking in any flair. My main course was dreadful. Excellent wine list and knowledgeable Sommelier. Overall service wasn't great, our waiter was moody and rude at times. Consider this place with caution, there are better restaurants in this price range.
Hotel Du Vin and Bistro – Birmingham City CentreYou get what you pay for cheap food at cheap prices nice place to spend a few hours
Rope Walk The – Birmingham City CentreWe visited Ulysses on Friday 22 February for the first time. They had an Elvis night, it was absolutely fantastic!!!!, we will definitely back for the next one in June. The food was lovely i had King Prawns with a garlic white wine sauce and kleftico to follow, the meat just fell of the bone it was so tender and delicious. We complimented our meal with a bottle of greek organic wine from the owners home town Tripolis in Greece, we had a lot of choices from there extensive wine list. The restaurant was beautiful inside, very authentic, Greek statues, amazing bar!! it was out of this world!! The service was good the staff polite and very professional. We will definitely be back, for a night out or even a party, as there is something for everyone, weekend they have live Greek music , Greek dancing and belly dancing. We will definitely be recommending this Greek restaurant to all our friends. Why don't you try , you wont be disappointed!!
Ulysses – Birmingham City CentreThis was a great place to eat out, The service was second to none and the staff were very helpful. The food - well I only had ramen but that was awesome! It was easy to find as we were told by the sushi bar in selfridges that they did ramen which was what I was looking for.
Wagamama – Birmingham City CentreWe tried Pizza Express upon recommendation and was deeply disappointed. Sparse toppings and tasteless starters really put me off eating here again. Having been loyal for 16 years really had no bearing at all. The manager said he had worked hard to achieve a good work ethic but had been let down by superiors. It really has gone downhill, new owners continue to make money while suffocating the people who make that money for them. Wildfire in Paradise Forum really is the place to go, tasty starters, generously topped pizza and a relaxed atmosphere is the way forward.
Pizza Express – Birmingham City Centre"We usually have a nightmare finding a restaurant that caters for my husband who is a vegetarian and myself who isn't. We have only found one that we regularly go back to in Birmingham until last night when we visited Ulysses. There was a huge range of starters for both of us, and a full page of vegetarian dishes. We started off with cocktails and were going to have a bottle of Greek wine, the wine list being extensive but as the cocktails were so nice we decided to stay with them, we tried four, all of them delicious. The starters were fantastic with the side salad crisp, no wilting lettuce here in a tasty dressing. I had slow roasted lamb which literally fell off the bone, juicy and tender. My husband had vegetarian souvlaki, which makes a change from the usual wishy washy offerings in other restaurants. I cant praise the food enough, you really need to try it yourself. Once you walk on the spotless red carpet you are led to a deceptively large dining area which manages to be intimate and spacious at the same time. It was a pleasure to eat there and we will definitely returning on a regular basis. They even have a night with Elvis in February. We had two cocktails each, three starters and a main meal each for less than £55. Great place, excellent service, fantastic night out. "
Ulysses – Birmingham City CentreGreat food, great service, great restaurant! San Carlo really does get 10/10 for every aspect of dining out. The atmosphere is friendly, as a restaurant should be, and is very noisy. Perhaps too noisy for some, however there were several Christmas parties going on, so perhaps it's not always that loud. I loved the choice of food available on the menu - it really was an impressive collection of authentic Italian dishes, with something for everyone, even those not really into their true Italian food. Highly recommended - and try the monk fish, it was beautiful!
San Carlo – Birmingham City CentreExcellent unique lovely eastern food style. Good for gathering with friends and enjoying food. I had healthy food in this restaurant many time and going there again tomorrow. :-)
Momo’s – Birmingham City CentreLasan is not a curry house, no sign of velvet wall paper anywhere. The food is interesting and created out of a desire to please the eye as well as the palate. The ambience is superb and the service is attentive but not intrusive. I took some friends from London to eat here, they commented that a restaurant in London like this would be charging at least twice as much.
Lasan Restaurant – Birmingham City CentreAll i can say is Jojolapa is excellent. The service, the food, the atmosphere. Waiters are so friendly they will stop and have a chat. They do not rush you while you are eating like some other restaurants. They are always willing to recommend dishes if you needed there help. the only thing is the prices are a little expensive but it is worth every penny
Jojolapa – Birmingham City CentreMy partner and i went here on 5/12/07 at 7pm the place was not busy at all, we ordered two burgers at £6.95 each and one order of chips, the food arrived in less than two minutes! great i thought until i took a bite only to find that it was almost cold! the burger had obviously not been cooked to order and the chips were not good for £2.45 a pop. my girlfriend would not let me complain so i left nearly £16 lighter and not happy. wont go again and will not tell friends to go there.
Handmade Burger Co – Brindley Place – Birmingham City CentreThe service was not good for the price, the staff seemed interested when we walked in, but as soon as we ordered our food they forgot about us. Poppadoms where on our table, but no sauces (wrong table). Nobody asked us how our food was or the service, once our starters had finished they didn't replace our knives (we had to steal some from another table). They seemed only interested in paying attention to what looked like their regulars. The food was OK, not great and definitely not good for the price. We ordered a desert and they didnt bring it to us and in the end we were running late for our film and had to rush out.
Rajdoot Tandoori – Birmingham City CentreReally good service, the food was not what I as an Asian would go for, though the traditional dishes were done to a T. Great atmosphere, staff really friendly and I'd say all in all it was a rather pleasant experience...
Lasan Restaurant – Birmingham City CentreAthens is a fantastic restaurant the food was outstanding i don't know what say cause it was so nice the entertainment was amazing the belly dancer was great even i had a go the Greek and Italian food was phenomenal the service was outstanding and so were the waiters the smashing plates was so good i smashed 20 of them and i felt good i stayed all night until early hours i had the best night ever u have got to go there
