Wing Wah Chinese Restaurant – ErdingtonVisited Longfellows last night for an anniversary meal and was delighted with the experience. Welcome was friendly, service prompt and attentive. Food was flavoursome well presented and good sized portions. Price was slightly more than your average out of town restaurant but then quality and fresh cooked meals are. Will definitely go again.
Longfellows – SolihullAverage place with average food. Nothing exciting...would suit the after pub lager louts!!! Went with a family of four...doubt I will be visiting again with family!!!
Curry Garden – ErdingtonThis is an excellent restaurant and bar, quite different to the other establishments in the area in its more modern feel. Me and my girlfriend had a cocktail in the bar first (Freshly made) before moving into the restaurant for our meal. It had a lovely relaxed feel with very friendly, attentive staff. I had garlic mushrooms to start, which were beautifully moist and my partner had the pate, which she really enjoyed. We both had fillet steaks for main, which were perfectly cooked to our liking (rare and medium) and a bottle of Cabernet Merlot, which was lovely. The entire bill came to less than £60 including the cocktails, which we thought was excellent value for money and to top it all off, if you don't fancy going home there is a Premier Inn next door!
Colmore Bar and Grill – Birmingham City CentreMy other half and i go to the Jafrany nearly every week. The service is excellent with very friendly efficient staff. The food is very reasonably priced ( as cheap as a good takeaway) and is of excellent quality. You can take your own drink and the staff will be happy to provide you with ice , glasses for your drinks. We have made this our favorite regular meal out.
Jafrany – NorthfieldI would recommend this wonderful gem of a cafe to everyone. I go there once a week for lunch and the food is nicely presented and very appetising. The couple who own it are very welcoming and friendly
Nata Cafe – Birmingham City CentreI am happy to recommend the Moghull restaurant to anyone - visitor or local - who enjoys Indian food. Excellent service, nice relaxed atmosphere. Top class food served by friendly staff. Licenced of course with varied wine list, & some exotic dishes on the menu that you may not have seen before!!! Delicious.
Moghul – Acocks GreenTasty food not to mention the belly dancing go there for a fantastic meal !
Athens Restaurant – Birmingham City CentreGreat baked potatoes I am wondering how exactly they cook these?
Gordon Blue – Birmingham City CentreLa Plancha has an enviable address on the Alcester Rd in the center of Moseley. however, the service and food within the establishment would suggest the restaurant takes it's location for granted. I have eaten at La Plancha a number of times, and I am always left feeling like I was at a chain establishment (IE La Tasca in Birminghams Mailbox) which in my experience Moseley restaurant goers, and indeed restauranteurs have sought to overcome. In fact one of the most deflating experiences I can recall is when (in fairness within weeks of the place opening) I took my prospective Italian girlfriend to La Plancha and we ordered the rather exiting "gambas" which, alas, turned out to be "gamberoni" as we joked - minute, and clearly frozen prawns instead of the head-on, tail-on , eye-on monsters that were conjoured by the over-liberal use of the word 'gambas'... albeit drenched in garlic and white wine! Small fry... The food seems (to me) as if it has been reheated locally (the "famous" meatballs being of note here...( "famous" for what exactly??)... and although in some places it is very good - the calamari is excellent - the experience feels as if one is in a bar that hasn't quite made up its mind as to its place in the culinary desert of Moseley - and the bread is ludicrously expensive. Bar? food? eh? And this is the problem with UK tapas: Is it a cocktail bar? Is it a serious restaurant? The latter, no, as the tapas is served in a way that one would think one is in the mailbox chain restaurant (as mentioned above), and the former, no: there is not sufficient atmosphere in the place to detain anyone for more than a drink which is why 'tapas' exists in the south of spain (as a way of lining ur stomach whilst u drink - at no cost). And into this the service is rather sub par - and this is not an inditement of the staff involved as they were clearly understaffed, but as I was eating my last meal, two couples walked in, to find there was no-one to greet them, no-one to take their drink order at the bar, and after waiting at least 5 minutes they left. Which seems rather poor business sense to turn away customers without even having seen them or shown them a menu) Two-penneth in the pot, La Plancha has a great opportunity to excell, but it should decide between tapas restaurant 'also rans (see Byzantium in Kings heath - far from perfect but has a better idea of its identity as a small restaurant), or be a bar.... And perhaps push itself as an 'after bar' venue... much as the spanish do. Spanish Tapas in my experience is an accompaniment to a drink, nothing more. Perhaps the niche for La PLancha is to utilise its great location to lure pre/post pub goers into a little sustenance, but not pretend food is the specialty its wayward- its an accompaniment to good company and good 'vibes'. Something that in this instance, really is 'BYO'
La Plancha Spanish Tapas and Cocktail Bar – MoseleyI celebrated my 40th at Xaymaca as it was formerly called, the service was good by the food was not. Having had the restaurant formerly recommended I wrote a letter of complain and never had a reply. Sadly I will not go there again.
Deep Caribbean Experience – Birmingham City CentreWe booked Duet for our small wedding reception lunch for 45. We had specific requirements for our day and found duet to be very flexible and accommodating to our requests. The service was amazing and the staff were friendly. Most of all, the food (Indian)was delicious! Compliments to the chef who made bespoke dishes to cater for our vegetarian family. We could tell they cared about ensuring our day was special. All dishes tasted fantastic and all of our guests enjoyed the meal. We would definitely go there again!
Duet Cuisine – Fort DunlopI am writing this review with a massive smile on my face. I booked La Plancha for my daughter's first birthday party and I wanted it to be a very special day. I managed to book a room and had a conversation with the Manager who suggested a buffet. As the day approached I was very nervous as whilst I know what the menu was going to be I still didn't know what to expect and how my guests would react to the food. Well, I needn't have worried the food was a fantastic example of Spanish tapas/food. It was so varied; we had seafood paella, meatballs (highly recommended) cream chicken, garlic mushrooms the list goes on and the food went on as well there was so much my guests could not complain of lack of food. What a great day, my daughter was happy with her portion of food, my family loved the great environment and service and my friends well they all left full and promising to return. If your looking for a special place to have a party/celebration I highly recommend La Plancha as it ticks all the boxes.

Chinnar Balti Tandoori – HalesowenA group of nine went a Saturday night for my wife's birthday. The food was excellent ( my main course was Goan fish curry with monk fish), the service was very good despite the place being pretty well full including two other large groups. Highly recommended, we will return.
