Oceanna – Kings Heathwhats going on with quality of fish the batter looked really dark and the staff were very stroppy but pedro seemed happy, but the food just wasn't up to scratch. price was too high
Dads Lane Fish and Chip Bar – Moseleyfirst visit to duet after lots of recommendations was not disappointed staff very good food lovely me and the wife will eat there again
Duet Cuisine – Fort Dunlopwhen i feel like an Indian meal its the only place in town to go as far as i am concerned
Jilabi Indian Restaurant – SheldonHave been going to this restaurant for about 7 years which I have been visiting with the family and don't think I've ever had a bad meal. The atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed with there recent refurbishment giving it that sensual contemporary touch, and the staff are so laid back and friendly that you just don't want to leave. The food - well, I just can't fault it. The family at the Royal Watan look after you sooo much when you visit them, Mr Ditta and his sons always take out time for every customer to have a nice chat an they always call you by your name which makes that customer relationship more stronger and wants you to keep coming back. The starters are just to die for as well the main course had my favorite lamb tikka which is juicy and succulent very tasty. For my main course I always go for Special Biryani which is so beautifully decorated and very tasty. The presentation of the food is 10/10 However, you could order any variation of anything on the menu and the chef will always be pleased to do it for you. The servings are very generous and the dishes are always freshly prepared and varied. All in all, a very pleasurable experience. I would suggest that rather than going any where else go to the Royal Watan, it's worth every penny a remarkable and memorable visit every time.
Royal Watan – Selly OakWhat a place, the food was no frills but tasted amazing. Service was as good as any restaurant, and the decor although nothing special is clean. I would recommend this to all.Really sums up the Birmingham curry experience.
Channis Indian Restaurant – Balti TriangleThis restaurant makes for a Great evenings dining and food experience without being too costly .! Ie Starters, main, sweet, plus drinks, a decent bottle of Wine and Irish coffee can be enjoyed for about 25 pounds a head.... The choice of menu and quality of food preparation is second to none here. Having sampled many of the dishes, both Curry's, baltis , and the Tandoori I cannot find any fault... The ambiance is fine, and its a pleasantly modern styled interior .... The staff are wonderful, friendly and helpful, and take time to explain the dishes if you need to ask . The wine list is more than adequate and offers plenty of choice for the discerning palette . From the moment you arrive the management, and staff make you feel welcome and aim to please on all levels . As a local dining out experience you cant fault it.... The prices are reasonable, and the menu varied, to suit all tastes... Compliments to the manager and staff for making a regular dining experience so pleasurable.. We go there quite often and will continue to do so in the future , Its Excellent ! .
Raj Bangladeshi Cuisine – Great BarrI have decided to add one to try and repay years of tasty and reliable cooking. We often go there and also often get takeaways from them. The restaurant is a very up market an stylish from inside and when looking at the menu you feel a like a child in a sweet shop an your spoilt for choice. The food is always very good and they will usually cook variations if you ask. I would especially recommend their vegetarian special, which we had last time and it was better than any I've had elsewhere. NOT swimming in oil or bits of burnt garlic like many places but savory and spicy with a nice, thick texture. The naans are always done how I like them to, lightly browned without being burnt with excellent delicious fillings of peshwari and honey spread on the top. The clientele are always very cheery people who don’t be shouting and arguing like other places, the staff are very helpful an are not in your face like some place an the boss is very friendly, got only 1 thing to say ”Royal Watan- I salute you!”
Royal Watan – Selly Oakhaving stumbled upon this restaurant i was very impressed with the decor and the service. when i went in i was immediately greeted by a friendly waitress and had my pick of tables. as it was winter outside it had a very warm and cosy feel with soft lights, candles and the wood oven. the food was very fresh and didn't take very long to arrive. i had a calzone which was massive and ended taking home half and my husband had the prawn risotto overall it was a lovely find and not to expensive we will be going back as much as we can.
Zizzi – Harbornethis is truly the worsest chippy i have ever tasted the food was just swimming in grease i should have just opened a bottle of cooking oil probably would have tasted better the smell was disgusting i couldn't ever explain it it was that bad smelt worse than a fish market the other day i went in there to complain an the man looked riffy and i saw a out of date pasty in the cabinet as i opened the fridge a rat ran out the owner picked it up wacked it off his wife stuck it in the fish batter and then had the cheek to try and sell it me as fresh roe i wouldn't av minded but you wanna know what your eating first and he tried to charge me over top price cuz it was a diy job and the owner said what more do you want it's fresh meat x
Dolphin Twins – ErdingtonHaving tried numerous Balti Restaurants in both London and Birmingham during the 8 years I've been in the UK, I dare say that Royal Watan ranks amongst the best in the country. In fact the quality of its dishes even surpasses that of many restaurants in Kashmiar! It is authentically Kashmiri/Pakistani and I highly recommend the Balti Boti Kebab, (even better than the famous Balti chicken tikka masala), The Royal Watan Special Naan(soft with an excellent taste with all the topping you could think of unlike most restaurants who do injustice to this Naan) . Simply put, the cuisine here is exceptional, and this is really something considering my fussy palate. The restaurant also has appeared on Doctors the bbc sitcom which makes it very popular with my British friends. Prices are average than other Balti restaurants, but the quality of the food more than makes up for it. It is also good value for money if you go with a group, which comes in generous quantities. Just can't wait to our chrismas party of 40 watch out royal watan were hungry an coming for you!!
Royal Watan – Selly OakI've been to this restaurant several times since 1999 and it's changed quite a lot in terms of appearance. It's now quite a looker with contemporary interior decor and snazzy red leather couches in the reception ( a far cry from other spit n sawdust balti houses ). The best way to describe the food at this restaurant is that it is same to traditional Kashmiri home cooking. The service is excellent and the staff are very welcoming. It is definitely value for money, including the drinks. A good range of dishes are available and they are of good portions too a must try is the Balti Boti Kebab makes your mouth water by ordering it imagine when eating it any way absloutley brilliant. We have introduced family and friends to this fine cuisine. Living within a 2 mile radius we have a takeaway every week. (naughty but nice) All in all you must try this place you need to book because they are always packed turning tables round. Very good value for money
Royal Watan – Selly OakO.K not the best one in shirley and for the price i probably wouldn't go back but i had an alright time......by the way the other review is by the managers daughter so isn't very reliable.....just thought id let you know
Shirley Spice – ShirleyWe went this lunchtime. What a fantastic place. We will visit again in the evening. See you soon
Zagora – Birmingham City CentreMy wife and I went on a Monday evening. As soon as you walk into the restaurant, you can feel that subtle ambience around you. The big brass pots with floating flowers and the smell of incense add a very nice touch to the already nicely decorated restaurant. On arrival, we were asked where we would like to sit, rather than taken to a table. The service is great, we were also told that if we didn’t understand anything on the menu or needed any advice to just get his attention. The food is amazing and the portions are very generous indeed. All in all, I would suggest that rather than go up the road to Asha's take a detour to Jojolapa, it's worth every penny. Subs
Jojolapa – Birmingham City CentreI decided to have my daughters surprise party at akram's the manager and all the waiters made it a truly memorable meal the food was beautifully presented and made every one feel at easy as many family members had not been before but will definitely be going again so much so i am going to organise my works Christmas party there.
Akrams Kashmiri – StirchleyI have been going to the Balti Society for many years now with family, friends and work colleagues. The atmosphere is so relaxing, you are never felt rushed to finish your food. You are made to feel very welcome. The food is excellent. They also cater for larger groups as well, if booked in advance. I have enjoyed many a night at the Balti Society and what makes it more special is that you can take your own drink!! Excellent choice of indian restaurant.
Balti Society – SheldonBeen to all the 'buffet' style places in the B'ham area and this one beats them into submission every time. Not the cheapest but comes highly recommended. Been over a dozen times since it opened and pleased to see it has been refurbished. Car parking can be a slight pain at busiest of times. 9.5 out of 10
