The food is lovely what let's this place down is the slow service the staff are friendly enough but you can tell evidently that there is no experience we waited over an HR for them to clear away the table no one came to ask if everything was ok these little things could really elavate this pub

Da Gino – Sutton ColdfieldWe went to the red lion Thursday 15th December and the food was lovely as always. However, the service was beyond poor! We arrived at 7pm our order was taken at 7.30 and at 8.20 the waitress came over to say she hadn't put our order through but they were making it now. At 9.15 we finally got our dinner and their apology at first was "you can have free desserts." Who wants to eat a dessert at nearly 10pm!! The manager did take money off the bill which was fine but when we went to pay the staff had forgotten us again, they were laying tables but it took almost another half an hour before we finally had enough and decided to pay on the way out. There was no apology and the slow service really wasn't okay. It's not the first time the service has been slow here and it does depend which staff members are working that day. You either have a lovely experience here or you simply get forgotten about and spend hours trying to get your food/drinks order or any communication or acknowledgment from staff.

Unfortunately the food let it down because most things we wanted to order they had run out of this was at 7.30 in the evening . The food which they said they had got they couldn't complete and had to change it again for alternatives. If it wasn't for being with our family we wouldn't have stayed.

Despite a mix up with a meal for one of our party of six, the staff more than made up for the error by apologising profusely, deducting the cost of that meal and offering a free round of drinks. We will certainly go back. Thank you for a most excellent of evenings.
