The service was good, but the food was disappointing. With access to such great Lancashire meat, dairy and vegetable produce on their doorstep, it is a shame that there wasn't much evidence of it on their menu.

Windmill Hotel – Blackburni thought it was posh in side and we had the family some yummy chips.it was nice for me and the little ones
Oyster & Otter Fish & Chip Takeaway – BlackburnMe and my boyfriend go here all the time, we absolutely love it! We are forever ordering re antipasto and pate, the antipasto is a n of Italian meats which comes on a big plate with fresh bread an a bowl of olives, the pate Is freshly made and full of flavour! We always share our starters. But before the starters arrived we had a garlic bread half cheese half tomato, which was tasty. For main course I had Penne Arrabiata I always ask for extra chilli, and this dish is my favourite and I've had it in other restaurants but this is definitely the best one that I've had! My boyfriend had the Fettucini al Fredo which is a tomato based dish with a touch of cream with ham, I tried a bit even thought I'm not a fan of cream and i surprisingly liked it, it's one of his favourites too. We always save room for dessert for me it's the chocolate fudge cake served hot with vanilla ice-cream, and for Jamie the chocolate profiteroles with ice cream, the profiteroles are filled with cream and then coated in a sort of chocolate moose, words to describe are delicious and heaven. Overall the service was fantastic and we were never left with our mouths dry, the waiters and waitresses were so friendly, the owners daughter who is only 18 is full of confidence and easy to have a talk with! I love this place with it's great atmosphere, on a Saturday night you will have to wait but you know that if you have to wait that it's a good restaurant and worth the wait! Brilliant restaurant.
Checcos – Blackburn4 of us had a meal on the 23/july 2011, and found it excellent and very good value. Service was ever so friendly. Would recommend and always return.
O’Marley – BlackburnStayed here again on Sunday for the gourmet night. Amazing Food, Amazing Service, Amazing Place. Nigel & Craig have this place spot on.
Northcote – BlackburnWhat a fantastic place to eat. The flavour of the food is amazing and there is so much choice on the menu. The owners and staff are so friendly and make you feel right at home. You MUST try this restaurant - you will not be disappointed.
Calypso Restaurant – BlackburnLove it! great fish and chips on the high chairs. Contemporary, great food and boozer to boot.
Oyster & Otter Fish & Chip Takeaway – BlackburnHad lunch at the Oyster and Otter with my Hubby and have to say we were very impressed! Staff were so friendly and attentive without intruding on our meal. The food was absolutely to die for and while the prices are perhaps above the average pub, the portion sizes were huge, and , this is NOT your average pub! We are already looking forward to returning to try other things off the menu. Infact, I texted me friend as we were leaving to tell her I had found us a great new place for a meal out!
Oyster and Otter – BlackburnJust had the best meal for a long time at the Oyster&Otter. My wife & I have just been to the above and can not praise this place enough. First class in food and staff with very polite owners a young couple. That is going to go far with this team, and Chef we will definitely be going again,& again & again well worth a drive from St Annes. perfect decor and seating with log fire for the cold winter days & nights
Oyster and Otter – BlackburnOYSTER AND OTTER - FENISCOWLES We saw this place advertised in Lancashire Life so we decided to try it. The Ribble Valley and surrounding area has so many wonderful places to go and eat so we thought to try another, newly opened place. I have split the review into categories which I, as a diner, would have found useful before visiting. Website: http://www.oysterandotter.co.uk/ A classy website that shows of the stylish nature of the restaurant with enticing photographs of food. The Menu is available online. (5 out of 5) Booking: I called to book which was no problem to do but when we arrived it wasn't busy so we had a choice of table. (5 out of 5) Parking: The car park at Yu and You is very large and there were plenty of spaces available very close to the door. (5 out of 5) Building: the restaurant used to be a pub and we saw photographs of how it looked before. The new owners spent about £500k to do the place up and you can tell as everything is quality and very fashionable. I really like the decor and feel of the place. (5 out of 5) Staff: We were served by Andrew, who coincidentally my Mother in Law knew and he was a fantastic waiter for us. He made menu suggestions, told us all the specials, got us a jug of water and even talked us through the history of the building and owners. He really made us feel welcome. (9 out of 10) Food: The restaurant is actually a fish restaurant and the owners have a long history with fishing and the sea. The specials board changes constantly with fresh catch including Lobster and Seabass etc and the menu itself has a wide range of tasty things. We decided to have starters: I had Pork Crackling with Apple Sauce which was really good but no where near as good as the Squid my other half and her father had! It was fantastic! Her mother had a twice baked cheese soufflet which she says was fabulous too. For mains I had 'The Pie' with slow cooked beef and Lancaster Bomber Ale which was great but i wish i had be brave and gone with the lobster. My other half and her mother had the slow cooked lamb which was amazing and her Dad had a HUGE chicken and chips which he couldn't finish! We then decided to have pudding and the chocolate pot was incredible too! Absolutely gorgeous but i will deffo have fish next time! (9 out of 10) Atmosphere: Relaxed but modern atmosphere with friendly staff and good chatter. (4.5 out of 5) Price: £25 per person Prices in line with those at the restaurants in the area which are reasonable, especially for the excellence in cooking and generous portions! (4 out of 5) Summary: We have found a new favourite in the Oyster & Otter, the food, service and experience are all well worth another visit - and we will be there once again on Bank Holiday Monday! Total Score: 46.5 out of 50 http://northernreview.blogspot.com/

Spice Lounge – BlackburnWent for a meal with my boyfriend and the food is awesome!! Very friendly staff and very helpful as asked about special dietary requirements for my sister and they went through the menu with recommendations so 10/10 from me and Rob :)))
Grey Mare Inn – BlackburnWe arrived at 11:45 for a 12:15 lunch sitting, when we walked into the hotel we were seated in the lounge & shown a very interesting wine list, as we were having the 7 course tasting menu along with wine, we didn't want to have to much to drink before the meal began, so we went for 2 glasses of champagne. After about 15 minutes the manager of the restaurant came over, introduced himself to us and explained the tasting menu to us (He was aware that we were having the tasting menu as I informed them when I booked the meal) We were asked through to the restaurant at 12:15 and seated, we were offered some homemade breads & given about 15 minutes until the sommelier came over and explained the 1st wine to us & how it brings out the flavours of the 1st course. About 3 minutes after the course arrived. Amazing the presentation was by far the best I've ever seen & the taste was just incredible The same procedure was continued for the remaining six courses. 3.5 hours later we had finished the menu & were served coffees in the lounge This whole experience was by far the Best we’ve ever had, so good infact we have rebooked for 2 weeks time. All together the bill came to £420 and we wouldn’t have expected to pay any less it was worth every single penny. Amazing
