O’Marley – BlackburnAbsolutely terrible, I found a hair in my food, wouldn't recommend to a homeless person, waited ages for my food and waitress was incredibly ignorant. The pizza was ok but not great, interior is quite nice, overall, I hated it and thought it was a waste of money.
The Pack Belthorn – Blackburni went to the restaurant and found that the price was okay however there was no real character in their. food was satisfying . might not go again
Scholars Restaurant – BlackburnI went with 2 friends a few weeks ago on a Sunday evening, about 6.30pm. It was 15 minutes before our order was taken and an hour after that before our food arrived. No apologies or explanations were given. I would never come here again.
Chiquitos – BlackburnAbsolutely fantastic! They will accommodate anything - even when not on the menu. Brilliant food, brilliant service and really warm and friendly. We have been a few times now and have only had excellent meals.
Checcos – BlackburnVery poor quality, bland, uninteresting food, staff impolite, quite expensive for the poor quality. Atmosphere OK but I would not recommend- much better Indians available in the area. And finally coleslaw is not a very good accompaniment to popadoms.
Spice Lounge – BlackburnFoods quite good. Made an order for dessert and coffee after main meal. Received coffee before puddings? I politely mentioned to staff that we made an order for sweets and was told we should have asked for coffee to be served after this pudding order(not in the most pleasant of terms). This attitude upset my mother who i was taking for lunch as we don't see each other often. When she also made a complaint about this attitude to the deputy manager he did his best to talk over my mother and refused to let her speak to the main manager. As this complaint was being made i was greeted by smug smiles by the waitress who i spoke to first regarding this matter. We cancelled the order and left the premises. We had recommended this restaurant to many friends in the past but wont be doing that again and we will not spend our money in a place were the staff made a point of giving us bad service on any occasion in the future.
Clog and Billycock – BlackburnWent to the windmill in the past and it was ok, but not been since it as changed hands, so my wife daughter and i went last night 5th/01/2011 and the choice on the menu was great, the food was great the service was great, so if you want top food at a good price check it out
Windmill Hotel – BlackburnToday myself and 3 others went to the windmill, it was great, fab food, so many choices, the staff were bob on, we all really enjoyed our meal, the new owners have made some fab changes and we'll defo be going again, I really hope it stays as good as it is now , ill defo be spreading the word .
Windmill Hotel – BlackburnStaff and Chef/Prop here, just super, from first contact. Wine list superb. However the food on Christmas Eve was desperately average, starting with the deeply ordinary and slightly stale bread, and finishing with the uninspired, chilly, cheese. Overcooked scallop on almost solid risotto. Industrial tasting BBQ type sauce with otherwise perfectly cooked fillet. Sub-Delia chicken dish. Should be noted that Chef/Prop was not in the kitchen. Also detail.....bulbs out in wall and centre lighting of restaurant. Towels for one, not two in the otherwise excellent room. Slapdash and noisy kitchen at breakfast. However, as I say, staff and owners treated us royally.
Millstone At Mellor – BlackburnI have dined here about 4 times and have enjoyed the food everytime. We are going on New Years Eve,having rung round numerous places only to find that their special menus ranged from £30.-£50 pounds. We just want good honest food at good honest prices and I'm sure that's what we will get at he Traders.
The Traders Arms – BlackburnOriginally found this restaurant on Sugarvine and visited several times since, I only live in nearby Oswaldtwistle and didn't know they were here. The food was fantastic and the staff so attentive. There are so many Indian Restaurant's out there to choose from but I don't think I need to look any further. Thanks guys keep up the good work.
Balti House – BlackburnWe visited Yu and You on the 4th December for my birthday. We decided to visit following numerous recommendations and the well publicised Gordon Ramsey competition win. To say that we were unimpressed would be an understatement ! now don't get me wrong the food was fine, but that was all it was. I just expected so much more, it tasted and was presented like all the other chinese restaurants that I had previously visited. The atmosphere was lively but this was good as it was a Saturday night and we had been informed that this occurs and was normal. The service was poor and we had to wait at least 30 minutes for our mains and when we ordered drinks these always took too long to arrive. If I was asked whether I would recommend this to anybody else I would simply say to them. "its a pricey Chinese restaurant and you could pick a number of other better value for money options"
Yu And You – BlackburnAbsolutely amazing, it used to be good when it was the giant's plate. Now it's even better! Great food and wonderful salad bar. We're from Southport but whenever we're in Preston we make the short 4mile drive and have a great lunch. Definitely worth a visit.
Windmill Hotel – BlackburnWe went to Northcote for my birthday and it was fantastic. The staff were excellent and the food was superb. The Apple Trifle, Lemon Choc Ice doesn't sound special, but is highly recommended!! Can't wait to find an excuse to visit again.
Northcote – BlackburnParts of the meal were amazing and parts very disappointing. Not for vegetarians as there are only two starters to choose from and only fish of the day for non meat eaters. Forage soup was tasteless green water and although the fish was cooked well the care and attention that was paid to the meat dishes was not lavished on the fish that was served with green beans and two pieces of cold uncooked brocolli. The pre starter of goats cheese and beetroot sorbet and the desserts were excellent. Sorry Nigel, I think you're missing an opportunity by not including more non meat dishes.
Northcote – BlackburnCame here a few week ago with my husband at lunchtime> we shared a tapas meal for 2 which was more than plenty and it was excellent> place was really clean and the staff was really lovely and polite , the chef actually came out of the kitchen and explained what everything was on our tapas plate. Definitely going again soon
O’Marley – BlackburnWent to the Clog and Billycock for lunch today. I have been there before and have previously enjoyed the food. However, they have now changed the menu for Sunday and the choice is now slightly limited. I understand that on Sunday the chefs have more to contend with now they make a Sunday lunch but the choice is now disappointing. My partner was looking forward to pork which was on their website as the main for Sunday lunch. On viewing the menu we found it was actually lamb and they had not updated their website correctly. He eventually chose the hotpot which was a bit soupy. As a vegetarian I looked at the menu and wanted to walk out-I wish I had now. The choice was a massive cheese and onion pie that would serve 4 people but is meant to serve 1 person or a summer vegetable salad. Having eaten my breakfast quite late I opted for the salad. The salad was average with a few chunks of cheese, a few pieces of fennel, courgette and red onion with some cherry tomatoes and masses of salad leaves with dressing which basically just tasted like greenery and would have cost about £5 in any other restaurant instead of the £8.95 I paid. It would be nice to have a couple more options like the grilled mushroom they used to do at their sister pub 'the three fishes' and the fritters they do from Mon to Sat. It's fair to say I will no be going back as I feel I could have made better at home.
