Celebrating 15 Years Of Evuna
Evuna, the leading North West Spanish restaurant, tapas bar and fine wine merchant is celebrating 15 years since the launch of its first restaurant on Deansgate, Manchester. The award-winning restaurant group now also has branches in Manchester’s Northern Quarter and in Knutsford, with a fourth Evuna due in Altrincham early next year.
To celebrate its 15th year, Evuna will be holding ‘Rioja versus Ribera Del Duero’ themed wine and food tasting birthday parties in both Manchester and Knutsford, with wines from two of its oldest vineyards, complemented by a range of tasty tapas, and fantastic flamenco to entertain. Evuna is also very proud to announce that Roberto Santalba and Jesus Sanchez, from multi-award-winning wineries Bodegas Santalba and Bodegas Azuauga, will be attending both events, which take place on 29th October at Evuna Deansgate and 30th October at Evuna Knutsford.
Founded by Jane and Frances Dowler, The Evuna Restaurant Group’s guiding principles are to pay homage to all things Spanish and to remain fiercely loyal to the country’s rich and diverse food and wine offerings. The first Evuna opened its doors in October 2003, with the aim of creating an environment so reminiscent of Spain’s culture of eating out that customers felt utterly immersed in a totally authentic Spanish dining experience. All three restaurants serve Evuna’s staple tapas, such as albonigas, calamares and bravas; whilst also including monthly regional specials, using modern fusion techniques to showcase a wider range of tapas dishes.
Wine is, of course, integral to the Evuna experience, with monthly focuses on specific wines being a particular highlight. Customers are able to enjoy a range of Spanish wines from regions such as Catalunya, Galicia, Rioja or Navarra, alongside specially created, authentic dishes from the same region. All Evuna-stocked wines are imported from family run vineyards that have several generations worth of experience. Evuna restaurants are the only Spanish restaurants in the UK that import directly from source.
“It’s hard to believe, but fifteen years ago, the UK market considered the world of Spanish wines to consist of just Rioja and Sherry, “ says Evuna founder Jane Dowler. “Now - thankfully! - it is so much more than this. I am continuously overwhelmed by the diversity of Spain’s viticulture; with over 120 denominations of origin and over 100 types of indigenous grapes. Evuna’s mission is to provide the finest Spanish wines at a great price.”
Evuna will be holding ‘Rioja versus Ribera Del Duero’ themed wine and food tasting birthday parties in both Manchester Deansgate (October 29) and Knutsford (October 30). The events start at 6.30pm, with a cava and canape reception and funky flamenco by Chico Pere. Guests will then taste eight wines and be guided through a journey of the senses by both winemakers and Evuna’s talented chefs. Tickets for the events are £40.00 per person, with full payment required at time of booking. Guests will also receive a 10% discount off all wines they buy to take home on the night.
