THE Chinese Buffet, Speke – Completing The Circle
The lion was on hand to dance for good luck and prosperity at the recent opening of THE Chinese Buffet on Liverpool’s Speke Boulevard. It’s the tenth venue for the fast-growing buffet restaurant group, which started life with a Bolton restaurant in 2006 and now has branches in Wigan, Blackpool, St Helens, Wrexham, Darlington, Huddersfield, Wakefield, Bury and Blackpool.
Housed in the characterful old airport building at Speke, which was formerly hone to Damon’s restaurant, the venue has been completely refurbished and extended to the tune of a million pounds. The building always looked circular, but wasn’t completely so, and by turning it into a true circle it can now accommodate up to 400 diners. You can eat as much as you like here for a set price, ranging from £8.99 weekday lunchtimes to £15.99 on Friday and Saturday evenings. Children between 3 and 10 years old eat at reduced rates too.
Needless to say, it’s great value for all the family and you can return again and again to the central service area with its theatre-style kitchen to load up on your favourites or try out new dishes. It specializes in Chinese cuisine but there are also British, Indian and Japanese choices, including a Teppanyaki kitchen, Dim Sum bar, Sushi bar, ice cream machine and chocolate fountain. The selection of dishes changes all the time and there is plenty too on offer for vegetarians as well as a good choice of wines, beers and spirits.
