The Old Blind School Liverpool Closes Its Doors
The Old Blind School opened in Liverpool in 2015, transforming an iconic Grade II listed building which had fallen onto hard times into a glamourous restaurant and bar. It was the seventh opening for the Cheshire-based New Moon Pub Company. But sadly New Moon went into administration last year resulting in a series of closures including Beef & Pudding in Manchester, Casa Matta near Northwich, the Mockingbird Taproom in Chester, the Bronx Bar in Knutsford and the Lord Binning in Kelsall. Now it appears The Old Blind School has gone the same way.
Two of the old New Moon properties are still trading with chef David Mooney at the helm - the Old Sessions House in Knutsford and the Montgomery at Eastham Village on the Wirral. David worked with both Raymond Blanc and Marco Pierre White before spearheading the success of Cheshire favourites like the Belle Epoque in Knutsford, the Duke of Portland in Lach Dennis, and the George & Dragon in Tarvin.
