Tattu – Leeds City Centre
Contemporary Chinese restaurant Tattu has opened the doors to its second site in Leeds city centre. The restaurant brand, which launched its first venue in Manchester’s Spinningfields district in 2015, has developed the Leeds site to create a 180-cover restaurant split over two floors, including opulent private dining room and ground floor terrace. Led by executive chef Clifton Muil, the restaurant’s menu focuses on delivering modern Chinese cuisine using traditional Asian ingredients and locally-sourced produce to create innovative interpretations of classic Chinese dishes.
Each restaurant take visual inspiration from body art and the development from its origins in the east to its prominence in today’s western culture. Tattu Leeds has built on this inspiration, focusing on the detail offered by contemporary body artists, replicated by using detailed natural materials such as Bardiglio marble and basalt rock, which has been imported from Hong Kong. The Leeds site also features a cherry blossom tree adorned with white petals in tribute to Yorkshire’s white rose emblem.
The restaurant has also developed three dishes inspired by locally-sourced Yorkshire produce, specifically for the Leeds venue. Comprising a spiced Yorkshire beef puff dim sum, Whitby crab cake with soy aioli and Yorkshire pork rib-eye with apple teriyaki, each dish will be available on the restaurant’s à la carte menu.
