Went to Chinese Delight with a group of friends. Is a great restaurant, the food is delicious and the atmosphere was very welcoming. There are a large variety of dishes to choose from and the food was delicious and hot. I would recommend Chinese Delight to everyone. 10/10

We have had a quite a few big family celebrations and NY eve nights and have enjoyed them all. The food is lovely and the atmosphere both good. Plenty of staff around to serve. I recommend La Roma to everyone!

Zest is a hidden gem, it was recently recommended to us for a great place for lunch ! and it was, loads of choice, great value for money, delicious food and attentive service, we'll definitely be back.

Believe me, from the outside you just won't believe what's waiting for you. A deli with things you've probably never seen before. A wine stock like you'll not find in many High Streets. And a brasserie menu that could change your lunch and daytime snack habits for a long time.

I visited Sottovento on late Sunday afternoon, just as they opened, with my partner and our 3 year old son. I had rather mixed first impressions as we were not greeted immediately and once we'd become settled at the table we were 'overwhelmed' with attention from four different people, including the owner. The place wasn't as busy as we had expected it to be but then I suppose it was early. This afforded us the chance to relax and to enjoy the background music whilst perusing the extensive menu over a glass of wine and a 'mezzo mezzo' (garlic bread with cheese on one half & tomato on the other). The owner who described himself initially of Mediterranean descent attended personally to our table and ensured that my partner's specific preferences for her main course were catered to. Our starters, piping hot soup of the day, and entrees were delicious and without fault. When my son asked me to take him to the bathroom just as my main course was served the plate was quickly taken away and was equally quickly returned to the table when I was seated again. There was no discernible deterioration in the tagliatella casanova that I had ordered. Although our son had been very well behaved he did become restless and took himself off to sit on the comfortable sofas in the adjacent bar area which fortunately was empty as all diners were on the other side of the restaurant. I was pleased to see that the owner adopts a family-friendly approach to his restaurant and this to me is undoubtedly a bonus to the superb food that we enjoyed.

I recently ate here with a group of friends. Whilst the appetizers were tasty, the main courses seemed lifeless and uninspired. Thai food is essentially simple to make, the great taste comes from the freshness and quality of the ingredients, and the balance of spices. However, both of these aspects were missing from our main courses. The amount of food that served was in no way near enough for the party of ten people, I would say there was only enough food for about four people.(the food was also cold). I think the service was very poor, after an three quarters of an hour the appetizers was served, it took a further hour and a half to serve the main courses after finishing the appetizers (took a total of three hours for two courses). Sorry I would not recommend the Nam Ploy.

10/10 Without doubt the finest Chinese food within miles of the Bury Bolton borders,Out of town prices and the highest quality,I have many overseas clients and family members who I take to this restaurant,some of them Chinese,extensive menu,free parking,piping hot fresh food and a menu you will never get bored with,free parking ,friendly staff and owner managed the best you will find,try it,if you are lucky to live close they also do restaurant quality take away,you will never go anywhere else

we have eaten Chinese food all over the country and in many places around the world but nothing can compere to the food served at this restaurant it is first class 5* and then some more they get it consistently right every time we eat in the restaurant we have take away and every time the food is excellent the staff are really friendly and helpful and always happy to serve you with a smile if you are considering eating here for the first time you will not be disappointed and you will return, Chinese delight is quite possibly the best Chinese restaurant in the north west and beyond . try it you will like it

We called into the Chinese Delight on an off chance 5 years ago on the same night as Ben and Angela took over this restaurant. This was the best off chance we had ever taken, I have traveled the Far East extensively throughout the 80s and 90s and eat in many of the worlds top Chinese restaurants like Hutong and Ye Shanghai in HK to Din Tai Fung in Taipei. What we can say is the good at the Chinese Delight is even better than these, and the hosts can never do enough for you. Don't let the location or building kid you, thus restaurant should be at the heart of chain town.

Fantastic friendly service in a newly modernised restaurant and the food is just as good

We ate here on our works do. I had fillet steak cooked medium rare and it was just beautiful! Peroni on draught at the bar is also a bonus. Great place and great food!

incentivised by the reward of a free bottle of house wine for reporting on our first experience of La Roma we returned a week to the day to see if our expectations would be met. The red house wine, a Sangiovese, was very nice just as the food we chose (a custom-made tuna steak and pollo marinato) were truly excellent. Combined with impeccable service our first impressions were confirmed as accurate rather than just a matter of good fortune.

My family and I regularly go to the Chinese Delight. Ben, manager and owner, runs a fantastic restaurant. I have always been a fan of Chinese food and have tried numerous Chinese restaurants in Manchester and the surrounding area but Chinese Delight is my favourite. The menu has a good variety including dishes that are unique to Chinese Delight. The food is wonderfully fresh and hot. My favourite dishes are fish based and these are cooked perfectly - especially the scallops and king prawns! Ben and his staff are a great laugh and very efficient. And an added bonus is that there is free parking. I would recommend Chinese Delight to anyone who enjoys good tasting fresh food.

My partner and I visited La Roma today for lunch and we had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch accompanied by a lovely bottle of Barbera. We were the first to arrive and were promptly greeted and seated at a table for two in a window alcove. By the time we left the place had become busier although it was not bustling and the clients were a mixture of couples and a group of friends enjoying the Christmas lunch menu. It was obvious that several of these patrons were regulars. The layout of the restaurant, a former pub, has been very well thought out with a light and airy main restaurant area, an intimate and cosy 'stübel', and a spacious bar area with comfortable seating with a theme of Italian racing cars and motorbikes with an actual Ducati in its midst. Our food was well presented, served in good time and absolutely delicious - my pizza rustica was one of the best I've ever tasted and my partner's ciabatta with roasted Mediterranean vegetables and mozarella (modified on request from goat's cheese) was equally enjoyable albeit it was initially served not hot enough for her liking - the waiter apologised and returned within a reasonable time with a completely fresh meal. It's not often these days to find Italian restaurants where the staff actually converse with each other in their native language which adds to both the authenticity and the ambience. The location may be a little off the beaten track with the river view marred by the electricity pylon cables stretching directly overhead but nonetheless we consider 'La Roma' to be a great find which we hope to frequent regularly.

la Roma has been the perfect place for both a quiet intimate meal but they are as good with larger groups. For the second year running all our neighbours go for a meal together and la Roma is without a doubt where everyone feels we get great food, great service and of course the best Tiramisu in the NORTH WEST!!!!!! Thanks to all the staff who stay friendly when we no doubt get a little rowdie towards the end of a long Italian feast!!!!

We strongly recommend a visit. Good homemade food at reasonable prices and looked after by a traditional landlady.
