Myself and a colleague wanted to treat some good customers to a nice Christmas meal in Bradford and some one suggested the “Ital” for a nice Italian. Unfortunately this was a far from nice experience. At first the staff were warm and welcoming but later turned arrogant, nasty and threatening. We ordered a chicken dish and 3 fillet steaks, our food came out promptly and my colleague and I were served what looked like cheap stakes, you could instantly see that they were not fillet’s, they were to big to be fillet’s and far to tough. My colleague complained to the waiter (who later professed to be the owner) and was regaled with abuse stating they were fillets and they serve thousands of covers and he was insulted by the suggestion that they were not. My colleague not wanting to argue the meats provenance simply asked for anything else from the menu but the steak. The waiter then went on one saying he could prove the steak was fillet and returned with a whole uncooked fillet from the kitchen. This was indeed a fine example of fillet steak but bared no resemblance at all to what we had on our plates. I must point out that fortunately our customers were happy with their food and insisted it was nice, but by this point the waiter had spent so much time being abusive to us our customers had finished their meal so we decided to cut our losses and asked for the bill being happy to pay for what we had. The waiter then returned spouting further abuse and by this time was becoming threatening. To my total amazement they had had the audacity to present a bill for all 4 meals, on challenging the bill I received further abuse telling me that he knew his rights and I had to pay for all the meals even though we had not even touched our 2. I then informed him that I was not going to pay for food we had not had and if that was a problem then he would have to call the police. To this I received another side dish of abuse, eventually they recalculated the bill incorrectly removing the cost of only 1 meal, after pointing this out I received another round of abuse and he recalculated it correctly. I of course paid the bill and left after receiving another 2 rounds of abusive and very threatening behaviour. I understand that restaurants make mistakes from time to time, however for a business working in the service industry you would think common sense and courtesy would prevail. I have eaten in quite a few restaurants but this place has to be the WORST experience I have EVER had. If you want a nice Italian meal DO NOT GO TO THE ITAL in Bradford, if you would like to be served abuse, be threatened or ripped off then I wholeheartedly recommend the ITAL.

The Bharat is a family run restaurant and is simply the best Indian curry in Bradford. The restaurant is cosy with a well stocked bar, the waiters are very attentive without being in your face. If your not sure what something tastes like, ask, and they will make you a portion to try. Now that's service. Go and try, you will not be disappointed.

We had a speaker from Chester staying with us for the weekend. The three of us came on Saturday evening for a meal. We had a fabulous meal which we enjoyed, especially our visitor. He had followed the progress of Prashad on Gordon Ramsay’s TV series and was delighted that we had taken him there for a meal. He likes his curries to be on the spicier side, so he conveyed this wish to Imran the Manager. Minal came up trumps with the right amount of spices to produce lovely vegetable samosas, delicious Mil juli sabzi and garlic Nan. Our guest was over the moon. He thoroughly enjoyed his meal and is looking forward to future visits to Bradford.

This recommendation is a bit late as I have been very busy with other matters. I am from Chester and was in Bradford a fortnight ago to deliver lectures to the Theosophical Societies in Bradford and Leeds. I stayed overnight in Shipley and my hosts brought me to Prashad on Saturday evening for dinner. I had followed the progress of Prashad in Gordon Ramsay’s TV programme and so was delighted to see the place itself. It was very busy but my hosts had booked a table in advance. We were welcomed and served by Imran the Manager. I like my curries to be spicy so I asked if they could make it so. Imran was most accommodating and suggested that he would ask the Chef to make the dishes in Madras style. I opted for vegetable samosas, mill juli sabzi, and a nan. It was the best Indian meal I have ever had. The cooking was outstanding, the taste and flavours were out of this world. I am not surprised that Prashad won over the heart of Gordon Ramsay. I am looking forward to my next visit to Bradford.

Fancying a curry take away, I rang Kebabeesh recently. My request to deliver to the pub I was drinking in caused no problems. The Mixed Thali I ordered arrived promptly and was delicious.

Fan Of Royal Eastern

Ordinarily I avoid eating Chinese takeaway food. I was introduced to the Royal Eastern a number of years ago and although it is a 20 minute drive for me I regularly order food from there. It's definitely restaurant quality food (same kitchen as the acclaimed Royal Eastern restaurant) and I can't recommend it highly enough. Delicious fresh ingredients with an extensive vegetarian offering,

Best Indian I've had in ages. Starters were delicious, lovely crisp onion bhajis. Main course was even better, more than generous proportions of meat and the breads were fresh and light. Bit pricier than your normal cafe type curry house but that's not what this place is. Staff were excellent also - highly recommended.

Eat here regularly and it's fantastic every time. Only disappointment was the last visit (27/8/11) where they announced a supplement for scallops (no problem in principle) but the scallops were tiny & tasteless.

Great value food and accommodation. Dart board, singers, karaoke, quiz night and if you catch it on the right day Saltaire Blonde ale.

I went to the Punjab on Thursday 28th July after a night out with a friend. The Massala fish starter was sensational both in terms of quality and the size of the portion, I also had the fish curry as a main with Pilau peas rice, both of which were also excellent. My companion was a vegetarian and I have to be honest, I don't know what he ordered; I do know that he raved about it afterwards. The Punjab looks like an upmarket 'formica' curry house but the quality of food is way beyond that. My favourite Asian restaurants include the Aagrah chain, Akhbars and Mumtaz and I can tell you that the Punjab can hold its own with any of these. The menu may not be as extensive and the decor (while not scruffy) may not be impressive but the food is first class. As a 'sweetener' the famous 'Fighting Cock' real ale pub is a short walk away Why not round off a night of excellent real ale with an excellent curry?

Three of us including a visitor from India came on Thursday evening for a meal. We had a fabulous meal which we enjoyed, especially our visitor. He was here on previous visits and was very pleased to dine again at Prashad. We ordered a mango lassi for our visitor, papads, bhel supreme, pani puris, utthapam, rava idli, bhinda and puris. Our visitor had not eaten bhel or pani puris before this. He was bowled over by their taste. He was very impressed by the very high standard of the cooking, the friendly service and relaxed atmosphere of the restaurant. So thank you Prashad for a most enjoyable evening out.

I am from India, currently on a lecture tour of England. My hosts brought me to Prashad for dinner this evening. I had been to Prashad on my previous visits and liked it very much. Since then, I have come to learn that Prashad has gone from strength to strength, winning accolades from the TV Chef, Gordon Ramsay. The results were evident when our meal arrived. My hosts had ordered a mango lassi for me, papads, bhel supreme, pani puri, utthapam, rava idli, bhinda and puris. All the dishes were exquisite. Although, I am from India I have not had the occasion to eat bhel or pani puris. Both dishes were a delightful revelation, and are certain to be part of my menu wish in future. It was a great meal and a great evening out.
