The Wishing Well – Longwell GreenCelebrated my 60th birthday on Friday 4th January 2019 with 28 of my family and friends. Wanted it to be a good evening and wasn't disappointed. The staff were very accommodating and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Everyone enjoyed their meals from the items on the menu to the carvery. The table was booked for 8pm and the carvery is normally closed at 8.30.i was a bit concerned but spoke to a member of staff a few days before and they closed the carvery before we got there and then reopened it for us when we arrived. Fantastic! The only downside (and this is not a criticism but a pointer for future reference) is that because it was a big party I had to take a piece of paper and ask everyone what they wanted before taking it up to the bar which of course delayed the meals. It would be better if when catering for larger parties a member of staff could actually take the orders this would have saved me stressing out trying to scribble down the orders myself and then running up to the bar with it. But as I said a very enjoyable evening.well done! Since we ate at your restaurant I have read some very negative reviews. Have they been to the same restaurant?

The Wishing Well – Longwell GreenWhen ordering food the staff looked like they had enough of the place, no motivation to work or serve. Whilst at the bar glass fell from a photo frame and smashed all over the place, with kids running around with out shoes, the staff mad a very poor effort to clear the mess and didn't even ensure the glass was properly cleared even when they had got the sweeping brush. This place needs some form of discipline of the staff to ensure health and safety is met and proper customer service is met. I strongly advise people to take custom elsewhere until these issues are sorted and continue to provide the correct service.
The Wishing Well – Longwell GreenAbsolutely disgusting, I feel very sick and a praying I don't get food poising !!! That was not even steak !!! Asked for no peas... Got them! No tomato.... Got them! Asked for medium / well and it arrived still kicking!!!! The texture was not even steak like!!! I feel sick, would not rate the food at all!!! I am just praying I don't get food poisoning?!!
The Wishing Well – Longwell GreenWent here for my sisters birthday on Monday. There was 15 of us we all went to order food, only for 11 of us to be told there was no lamb, gammon, fish or pie!!!Every time we changed our order they had ran out of whatever it was so some didn't eat. After our food a couple of us ordered a lattee only to be told they ran out of MILK their reason was they have everything delivered on a Tuesday. So if you are thinking of going just don't go on a monday because you will he disappointed.
The Wishing Well – Longwell GreenI took my sister for a meal here and all I can say is great stuff! The waiters/bar staff were friendly and had a laugh with them and the presentation of the food was fab!
The Wishing Well – Longwell GreenChrist, you don't expect Michelin star standard food at a place like this but for the price what I would expect is tasty simple pub food, that a child could muster and is it too much to ask for pleasant customer service? I will be going to The Wishing Well tonight for my child's birthday and I am now regretting this decision on what has been previously written. I will leave a post visit review afterwards and as before I suspect it will be overly negative.
The Wishing Well – Longwell GreenI visited your restaurant this saturday, I noticed that the restaurant wasn't very busy. When we ordered our food we were surprised to be told that there was a half hour wait for food, as there was only about 10 people there. We ordered drinks all soft ones I may add, my diet coke smelt very sstrongly of spirits, I complained and was told that they have had alot of complaints about it. So I had to have regular coke, as I am not a drinker and think this should be sorted. Also all the food was cold and overcooked, I would not recommended this to anyone.
The Wishing Well – Longwell GreenWe came to the wishing well today and was pleasantly surprised to see it was busy but no where near full so found a table and we sat and chose what we wanted. My dad went to the bar to get the drinks and order the food which he had to wait and the manager put the order through explaining it would be a 20 minute wait for the meals. which we were happy to wait, we sat enjoyed our drinks waiting for the food to come, after waiting 20 minutes a mamber of staff came out to apologize and explain they have NO STEAK in the building conssidering we had ordered 4 meals with 3 being steak meals. so we chose alternative meals and my dad went back to the bar to claim a refund as what we had now chosen cheaper meals so asked for a refund this seem to cause a problem with the staff as the first person couldn't do this when eventually the young man that had changed the order came he handed my dad a £5 and said "ive been told to give you this" we asked if that was the correct amount as he didnt put anything through the till and this was short of what the difference was. we then enquired to how long the meals would be as by this time we had been waiting over 30 minutes and was told it would be at least another 20 minutes which we were unhappy as we had a young baby and pregnant woman in the group who was geting hungry so we cancelled the order and asked for a refund which was given. we wont be going back to the resutant again as the customer service was rubbish surely if something is out of stock they should tell you at point of ordering the food and not when the customer is expecting to receive the food. a very unhappy family.
The Wishing Well – Longwell GreenMe and my partner visited this pub at approx. 6.30pm last night and sat on table 11, we ordered 2 starters and 2 mains. Food review - Starters were fine, mozzarella sticks and chicken bites, I think maybe the reason why these were so nice was because it was ‘easy food to cook’ (thrown into a fryer). Our mains were, a mix grill and a ultimate burger, the chicken both in the burger and the mix grill was chewy and hard in places, seemed as if this had been cooked previously and then re heated in the microwave. The gammon was the thinnest piece of gammon I have ever seen, and the egg and peas were cold. Chips on both plates came in a cup… who wants their chips put into a normal drinking mug? I think when you pay £15.00 for a mix grill you expect the meal to be filling, tasty and good value for money. Service – Firstly, the lady that had served us on the bar was very nice, Sophie I think her name was. But unfortunately this all went to pot after our starters were brought out to us, we weren’t checked on, neither was our starter plates cleared. Our mains were brought out to us, put on the table, and still our starter plates weren’t cleared. We both sat after eating our food, waiting to see if again we would be checked on on our main meals, so that we could raise our concerns about the cold food on my partners plate in particular, again this didn’t happen. Sadly my partner sat and ate the food stone cold and didn’t enjoy it one bit. The funny thing was that, there were only three or four tables in the restaurant last night, surely this should have meant better customer service than we received, so really there is no excuse as to why we felt so neglected whilst trying to enjoy our first wedding anniversary meal at somewhere where we thought we would have an enjoyable meal. This seems a real shame as 5 weeks ago we came and had food with you, and the food was amazing hence why we chose to come back to you. Very unhappy with this experience and very disappointed.
The Wishing Well – Longwell GreenDear Sir, My friend and I last evening came to the Wishing Well at about 7.00 pm. We were happy to find plenty of clean tables, when we sat at table 35 choose our food. I went to the bar when there was just one pleasant member of bar staff serving she was coping very well with the crowd of people at the bar. The after about five minutes she was joined by another pleasant young man. Who when it was my turn to be severed took my order for food and supplied the ordered drinks. After about 20 – 35 minutes and with other people being served who had ordered after us. We asked the young man where our order was. He went to find out after much looking at the till and checking with the manager and the kitchen staff he went about his business. He then brought out more orders while obviously ignoring us. After 15 minutes I went up to him and asked what was going on. He avoided all eye contacted with me and did say anything. So I said to him our order hasn’t been processed has it to which he agreed and then said it is on the way as he been finding out what happened. The thing that upset me so much is I expect that mistakes happen and no one wants things like this to happen, but for good customer service and just respect to people the young man only had to come to us ant tell us what was happening. When he brought the food which was lovely and when he came to check with us on either of these occasions did not he apologise. I have worked in catering as had my fiend we met while training as chefs, and still work in customer service the first thing to do is acknowledge the problem and say sorry. Also the manager must have seen me going to the young man and taking him to task, when I went to speak to him when it was obvious he knew what was happening I told him all he need to do was to come across to us and explain what was happening. Also it was obvious that the staff had been discussing us and when we left the pleasant young lady looked our way and when I made eye contact with her she looked away. For good customer service she could have apologised and we would have left happy, all that happened is we left disappointed and will tell people that the food is lovely but the staff have no customer skills.
The Wishing Well – Longwell GreenVisited your restaurant tonight with my mum and friend and I have to say it was the worse meal we have had in a long while took ages to come and it was cold ,wasn't entirely satisified with the response I got from the staff ,in this day and age where money is tight people will go elsewhere like I will.
The Wishing Well – Longwell GreenVery bad experience, food did not arrive, lots of the food on the menu not in stock, abusive manager even when we tried to call to make a complaint we were accused of swearing at the staff, when we had children with us we are not the type to swear at anyone
The Wishing Well – Longwell GreenCracking little boozer, 3 live ales on all the time, best
Butchers Arms The – Longwell GreenDirty Tables graffitied........stroppy staff who lack customer service ..no SMILES.food disgusting and the two for one price is simply a con for what you get ....Half warm food with clearly the cheapest ingredients served after waiting nearly an hour by a stroppy waitress who virtually slammed down delivery without an apology.Clearly will not be going there again or recommending this place again! yuk!
The Wishing Well – Longwell GreenNo food here, just a great atmosphere and real ales.
