Alcombe Fish Bar – Mineheada little gem near the harbour in minehead.a llmeals are cooked superbly .the wine is very reasonably priced. the desserts are all homemade with a good choice. staff are very friendly and professional . phil the owner is brilliant front of house. will definitely be back.
Old Harbour House Restaurant The – MineheadVery nice food but extremely expensive. We had pops with NO dips, 2 main meals, rice and 2 nan £30
Taj Mahal – MineheadRecommended Cobblestones on my last visit to the UK and have just been back to the UK and had yet again a fantastic experience there. Food, presentation, the welcome and staff were all wonderful. It felt like we had never been away and were regular patrons. Keep up the good work and the wonderful menu! Will be looking forward to my next visit to the UK & Cobblestones. Thank you for a wonderful experience x
Cobblestones – MineheadVisited here for a lovely afternoon tea with all the trimmings including scones and clotted cream. The garden to the rear is a delight so take it al fresco if the weather permits. Winsford is a quiet village in a tranquil Exmoor valley and they do have rooms here if you want to stay over. It was once the summer residence of a Victorian attorney general who has given the house its current name.
Karslake House – MineheadWe love this restaurant but alas only went once -on the last day of our hols. The moule marnieres starter was a main all in itself and the sea bream with horseradish sauce devine and morish. Steaks and lambshank were I am told equally lovely as was the summer pud and -as my son called it accidentally-fabstiffy toffee pudding! Highly recommended as it is very reasonable and delicious!
Piggy In The Middle – MineheadOnly stopped for a drink at lunchtime but what a lovely spot it is in a quiet little valley by the river. They also do food and rooms and I would say if you want to get away from it all in Exmoor, you wouldn’t go far wrong here.
Tarr Farm Inn – MineheadWe were staying up at the Cleeve House in Porlock and luckily decided to eat at Piggy in the middle a couple of weeks ago (Mid July 2010) with four family members - we had the best meal of our holiday by far - excellent local produce expertly cooked and accompanied by excellent service and wines. Try the lamb cultlets. The wine list was short but carefully chosen - including a really excellent McLaren vale shiraz - we had to have two bottles just to make sure it was that good. If you are visiting Porlock don't miss this dining opportunity !!
Piggy In The Middle – Mineheadoverpriced muck served to idiot Somerset fools who have never tasted a true curry and consequently think this 'modernist' place is quality. not true. you pay thru the nose and you get slop. fair enough it's the one one around here, but still, MUST TRY BETTER TO PRODUCE DECENT FOOD !!!
Alcombe Tandoori – MineheadRecently stayed in Dunster with my husband and reserved a table at Cobblestones, as recommended by our landlady. On arrival received a very warm welcome - bar had plenty of choice and good beer as sampled by hubby!! The menu had a good selection of dishes, reasonably priced and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Portion sizes were excellent too. They have a great selection of desserts - the one I tried was superb (chocolate praline mousse - just fabulous!)and presentation was wonderful too. The service and waitressing was excellent too - nothing too much trouble and very friendly. We will certainly book at this restaurant again, when we next return to Dunster. Definitely recommended!!
Cobblestones – MineheadWe had one of the best Indian meals ever here - excellent!
Alcombe Tandoori – MineheadWent there for dinner 3rd and 4th of October 2008. Excellent service, excellent food well cooked and well presented. Theresa has a warm and friendly manner - first impressions count and Theresa impresses. Kerry is a very efficient, helpful and pleasant waitress - she behaves as if she enjoys serving you. Richard is an accomplished chef - knows about taste, texture and presentation. Very good prices, real value for money.
Cobblestones – Mineheadwhat can i say about this restaurant but it is the best!! we have been going there for many years and love the food and the hospitality. jennie and gary
Golden House – MineheadA unique, calm and welcoming place to dine- varied menu with something for everyone. Presentation delightful, and food and wine reasonably priced We will visit again- and again
Cobblestones – MineheadIf you are looking to experience beautiful cuisine, a wonderfully relaxing ambiance and charming company, I recommend you visit Tongdam. My husband and I were looked after superbly by the restaurants founders Robert and Tino and by the head waiter Joh who made our evening so special! If you have someone you would like to treat for their birthday, you will find your table tastefully decorated with 'sparkles', three small helium balloons with ribbons and an exquisite handmade card from all at Tongdam! We stayed the night in the master bedroom and even with the rain tumbling down outside, with the french doors open onto the balcony and just the sound of the birds singing our relaxation was complete! The following morning we were greeted with the most beautifully prepared breakfast and wonderful fresh coffee. I have to say that everything about Tongdam is wonderful - the food is superb but it's the people that really will make your experience a very special one!
Tongdam Thai Restaurant – MineheadIt might be in the middle of nowhere, but I would travel even further to sample the excellent food served here, game and fish are as fresh, and as succulent as they can get and all perfectly cooked and in great surroundings
Tarr Farm Inn – MineheadI was recently on a visit to the UK from South Africa and had such a fantastic experience at Cobblestones I just wanted to tell everyone about it. The welcome on arrival was excellent - even being greeted by name (we had booked in advance as it was a birthday). We had a relaxing drink in the bar area first so that we could look at the menu and decide what to have. This was a very difficult task as there was so many delicious things to choose from but eventually we decided. The table had been decorated with fresh flowers and there was plenty of room for us to enjoy our evening. The food was excellent and obviously freshly cooked - how nice not to have something that had been thrown in the microwave to heat through, The sauce on my steak was out of this world and the steak was cooked to perfection. If you love deserts - this is the place to go!! What a wonderful selection, even those of us that were too full really to want one were tempted and the cheese platter had a variety of local cheeses that we had not tasted before. The whole experience was wonderful and the hostess made our evening one of the highlight of our trip. If ever we go back to the UK again we will definitely return. We now recommend it to all our friends that are visiting that part of the UK. Well done to everyone at Cobblestones and keep up the good work. 5 star restaurant and service!!
Cobblestones – MineheadMy wife and I visited this restaurant yesterday and were most impressed by the entire experience. The staff were very welcoming and we found the restaurant to be both comfortable and spacious. The restaurant was decorated to a high standard and was spotless. Although the kitchen must have been very busy, our meals were well cooked and nicely presented. The entire menu looked appealing, but we opted for the Hake Goujons with a portion of chips and also the Pork steaks in creamy peppercorn sauce with baby roast potatoes and peas. We finished with a dessert of Sticky Toffee Pudding covered with a Baileys Toffee Sauce, which really was as good as it sounds! We ordered our coffee and were able to enjoy it in the sitting area overlooking the rear garden. We would highly recommended this restaurant.
