Halo – Bristol City CentreMy very favourite restaurant! Have been 100+ times and have NEVER been disappointed. The food is the whole point here. Gorgeous Turkish fayre simple and effective. Delicious mezze starter and the best lamb around. They don't know it yet, but when I meet Mrs Right, they'll be catering the wedding!!!
Marmaris – BathWonderful service and wonderful food! Can't say fairer than that!
Bottelinos – Staple HillAs it is Beaujolais Nouveau time I couldn't resist popping in here for lunch last week. Nouveau was everywhere and not a bad little drop of wine this year. The airy restaurant had a good amount of people animatedly chatting. The set lunch was £10 I opted for a really tasty pheasant breast which came with mash and a port wine sauce and honey roast veg. To finish I had a delicious Brulee. I met the owner who is a real personality and enjoyed talking wine with him. Great atmosphere.
Beaujolais Bistro Bar – BathGreat funky place with cool pizzas. Best thing is to share because they are huge. Also run a 2 for 1 offer, which makes them, even better value. Really friendly staff and an all-round great place.
Planet Pizza – CliftonYou won't find a better Indian Restaurant in Bristol. Well worth the trek to get there and the Taxi will drop you off at the door step. Some times booking is a good Idea. Never noisy, never rushed. Early dinners might have slower service. Recommend dishes from the specialities and family menus. I will go back there time after time. A great find.
Raj Pavillions – HorfieldI happened upon this place quite by accident for my partner? firm? annual Christmas meal. I know quite a few Greek people in my everyday life and I am often disappointed when going to a 'Greek restaurant' that the quality of the food is not as it is when I visit with my Greek friends - I was pleasantly surprised then by Sousta. The food is as close to authentic and fresh as you can get and the staff have a friendly & sociable nature, whilst maintaining a polite and professional manner with patrons. In fact the cook 'a wise older Greek lady' came out to greet us and it was nice to thank the person who cooked the meal for our meal. The Restaurant was a little cramped but then news spreads fast of a good restaurant, book in advance. The cost was average-cheap for the actual quality of food on offer, they could charge me more - I would still go. Even though we have now re-located to Birmingham, I find I look for special occasions to steal back to this place for some 'proper' food. I have taken my friends there and they agree it is quite superb. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough, if you want an authentic taste of Greece.
Sousta Greek Taverna – CongresburyServe great veggie food. Lovely garden out of the way to sit in when it's sunny. Sometimes have live music and poetry. Defiantly not a 'greasy spoon'!
The Garden Cafe – FromeI had a takeaway from here, and loved the subtly spiced food, not the garish overly spiced food that most Indians offer. I was very impressed; it suggested to me that the chef had been very well trained. Will be going back soon.
Ganges – HorfieldI had lunch here on a Wednesday, it was packed full of what I was later told Matinee viewers. They managed to fit me in downstairs where the atmosphere was bubbly and warm. The set two course lunch for £10 offered a good choice, I opted for the red pepper soup which was rich and thick and came with a large basket of a choice of fresh breads, to finish I had the Boeuf Bourguignon which was very tasty indeed and came with a choice of new pots or rice. No room for dessert, I left replete. Will go again as I would like to try the evening.
Tilleys Bistro – BathWe walked into Don Giovanni's just because it was close to temple meads station, but now I've been once I would definitely go again. The pasta was great and the puddings were fabulous. The steaks also looked great.
Don Giovannis – Bristol City CentreWhat a wicked spot, right in the heart of real Bristol> You would love it whoever you are.
Cosies Wine Bar – Bristol City CentreHad a very nice meal with my family. Excellent quality of food that you could tell was freshly prepared and very friendly service from the three girls. As it was my boyfriends birthday they went out of their way to provide balloons for the table which was a nice touch. Once we had finished in the restaurant we hit the tables and had a really good time. Having the tables and machines next to the restaurant makes for a very different evening.
Grosvenor Casino Bristol – Bristol City CentreThis restaurant is fantastic, an Italian restaurant with a genuine Italian atmosphere. The food was also very similar to that in Italy, as I had just visited previously. Friendly service, lovely food and a brilliant evening thank you all at La Passione
La Passione – KingswoodAlthough it is better to experience real Thai food in the evening at the old bakehouse, the daytime food is of the equally outstanding quality. By day it is a busy, very atmospheric coffee shop/ restaurant, with very friendly and excellent service and it also has the food to go with it. You cant really express the word for it other than try it for yourself. I must inform you though, that it is advisable that you book a table, as it is very popular and quite usually fully booked.
Old Bakehouse The – Castle CaryTasty Thai cuisine, brilliant friendly service, authentic interior and a fantastic chef!!! Definitely worth a visit!!!!
Lotus Flower – TauntonHave been to this restaurant several times and never fails to impress. The food is excellent though rustic which is part of the charm. Portions are generous and it is a struggle to do three courses but of course we did and the sweets were fab. Authentic ambiance adds to the dining experience. Yep we will be returning!
Old Mexican The – TauntonHad a lovely meal in this cosy and chilled cafe / bistro with it's friendly and welcoming staff making the experience that bit more enjoyable. Food was tasty, colourful and generous in size. The house red was good and when the bill came was impressed that it was very reasonable. Have already been back!
