Eastern Eye – Bathnow the hangman is gone maybe this pub may fulfil its potential and become and family pub,
George and Dragon The – BlagdonThis place is a hidden Gem!!! I enjoyed my first meal here with my sister's Boyfriends' family who have been coming here for years! We were all welcomed with open arms by George and his family. We sat down and our drink orders were taken straight away, and brought over just as quickly! Once we'd all decided what to have to eat, George came over and took our orders. The starters were AMAZING!!! It was hard to stop yourself filling up on the starters alone, they were so delicious! Our main meals were out of this world. I had traditional doner kebab with Greek rice (I thought it'd be the safest option since I wasn't sure what i'd like). I tried the lamb as well... the BEST by far!! No-one will ever beat it! Then we washed it all down with floater-coffees (which didn't disappoint!! They matched the standard set by the meals without a doubt!). George then brought out a flaming shot for the birthday boy! I don't hesitate to recommend this place, and i'm gutted I didn't go there sooner! See you again George and family!
Kebab House The – Bristol City CentreGood choice for authentic Turkish food and flavor. The location is convenient in central Bath and the prices are moderate. The service was the best thing about my experience at Marmaris. Suzanne Kelly New Orleans, La USA
Marmaris – BathAbsolutely amazing food, wonderfully enthusiastic staff, very friendly, food choice was excellent and the food was piping hot. We spent almost 2 hours in here they were happy for us to delay deserts. The owner bought out a taster dish even though we'd already ordered just for us to try, it was great to see someone passionate about their food, restaurant and service. Cannot recommend this place enough!!!!!!!!!
Opa Meze Bar and Greek Restaurant – BathI have no idea what restaurant is like as it is impossible to book a table. I rang on two consecutive nights to book a table for 7 people and had to leave a message on their answering machine but they did not ring back. I tried again on Saturday lunch time and this time managed to speak to them but was told they did not have access to bookings and would ring me back - I waited until 7pm and then rang again and once again had to leave another message. It is now Tuesday and they have not yet returned one of my calls. Needless to say we will not be going there. I would suggest they have a look at their customer service issues.
La Bonne Vie – TauntonDid I go to the same restaurant?!!! The decor is like a bad 80's restaurant (think white walls and exposed red brick arches!) The place is full of glamourous grannies in their twin-sets, pearls and overly coifed hair and on the other hand low-rent wag wannabes on dates with muscle-bound louts & is certainly not a hip exclusive eatery. The food is okay, very small limited menu but freshly prepared (what you would expect of any decent restaurant really). Perhaps this is because I have eaten in restaurants all over the world so I have more to compare it to than most but to say it is some orgasmic experience would be a lie. It is mediocre food in a naff little restaurant in the outskirts of Bristol. The staff were pretty friendly however the hostess (an older blonde lady) is pretty indifferent and almost rude. It would seriously need to make it more of an experience to make anybody want to go back there and I am very surprised it has any Michelin stars. I get the vibe it's the sort of place people want to go to to try to be upmarket. It's not upmarket whatsoever, it's nothing special and I for one would certainly not go back there again. I think people say they like it for fear of coming across as uncouth for not understanding it or enjoying "Michelin Star" food. I have eaten in over 20 Michelin Star restaurants all over the world and this certainly isn't of that standard. It's okay not to like it! Just because it has this award doesn't make it automatically fantastic. The flavours are confused and the experience is well..... there isn't one.
Casamia – Westbury-on-TrymDefinitely a restaurant worth visiting! Absolutely fantastic curries and a reasonable price and the atmosphere is just lovely in there. But if you don't want to sit in there is a 15% discount on take aways! (Good if your on a low budget!) I recommend for deserts you get the truffito ice cream. I actually once went there just to get it because i didn't feel like a curry :P But seriously this ice cream is lush, chocolate ice cream covered by a chocolately nutty shell with caramel chocolate sauce in the middle yummmmm.........anyway back to the point, the actual curries are great too! They used top quality spices and the meat isn't like that chewy stuff you get in ready meals, no not at all! Its of the finest quality and if you're a vegetarian, there is a lot of vegetarian dished available. They even have a 'british menu' with omlette and chips :P (Yeh you can tell I go there a lot, I have tried just about everything there!) Its all good and worth visiting, you won't regret it!
British Raj – Westbury-on-TrymThis restaurant is pure genius. I have been coming here with my family since I was knee-high and the comforting welcome provided by George has never changed (nor has the decor, or the food for that matter!). It is a no frills place so if you're one for lavish surroundings maybe it's not for you - put it this way, I have never seen the place mats, salt and pepper pots or oil burners change in the time I've been going. However! This does make it all the more reminiscent and wonderfully cosy. The murals on the walls and the Greek music transport you afar and the food is amazing - I would always recommend the meze and if by some miracle you have space after, George makes a Cointreau coffee to die for - he is a liqueur coffee connoisseur!
Kebab House The – Bristol City CentreWe had lunch here today. I love Italian food, especially good Italian food and I was absolutely blown away by the superb quality of the meal. My wife had Penne with a tomato and bacon sauce. Her comment was that this was the best she'd had for years and could easily imagine herself being in Italy while she was eating it. I had Lasagna and I can say that it was the best that I have had since... well actually, probably the best ever. And my daughter (who is gluten intolerant) had a wide choice of food to eat, including gluten-free pasta. We discovered that their sensitivity to this comes from the owner's daughter also being gluten intolerant. This is a family owned, family run restaurant that offered the BEST Italian food and at very reasonable prices. If you adore italian catering, you MUST come here. We will certainly be going back.
La Grotta – Bristol City CentreI recently visited the cafe piano bar with my family.I understand the restaurant has recently been taken over and i would very much recommend a visit. The staff are attentive, lovely atmosphere. The food is wonderful i had the salmon which was beautifully cooked in a delicious light sauce served with seasonal vegetables
The Courtyard Restaurant – WellsWe went to the cafe piano bar for Sunday lunch , the food was outstanding. I had roast beef which was beautifully cooked, very tender meat.Vegetable and roast potatoes outstanding all very freshly cooked. Lovely atmosphere with a piano playing quietly in the background would very much recommend a visit. My mum and Dad have been back twice already and apparently the lasagna is outstanding
The Courtyard Restaurant – WellsIn reply to Pilton5 saying that Goodfellows should have a Michelin star, Adam Fellows did gain one when he was Head Chef at Charlton House Hotel in Shepton Mallet, but said he didn't want to be inspected for one when he opened Goodfellows. I quite agree that the standard of food - both ingredients and beautifully creative presentation - is the highest in the region.
Goodfellows at 7B – WellsThis is a case of what you see is not what you get - the restaurant is unassuming and simple in decor - but the food is outstanding, and far outshines some of the flashier and more well known eateries - both locally and I would say in London too. Having eaten out in London a great deal, I love coming back to Goodfellows for the way respect is paid to the integrity of the ingredients. It should have a Michelin star -Top place!
Goodfellows at 7B – WellsThis is the best restaurant i have ever been to by a far mile, it has a friendly service with fantastic food they never delay your food so if u want a good night out? then LA PASSIONE is the place to go!
La Passione – KingswoodI was visiting Bristol with my family from Thailand, my father wanted very much to have a drink in an English Pud and we happen to just walked pass The Old Fish Market on our tour around the city. The staff was very friendly and inviting, the bar man help us to select some great beers or ale. The food was a big plus to our first pub outing, the menu was not your standard Thai food but was a great improvement to some of the Thai restaurants that we have tried in London and Bristol (if not the best). My mother is very picky when it comes to Thai food or any food for that matter, but she loves the food here, the Pad Thai Prawns was the best that she ever had and the rest of my family feel the same way....Over all a great place a good drink, a fantastic place for THAI FOOD...and I'm from Bangkok.. :)
Thai Kitchen – Bristol City CentreExcellent meal, not too costly, with an authentic Italian feel. Nice atmosphere, good service - what more could you want? Highly recommended.
Zio – CliftonThis restaurant is clean and modern with the unique touch of seeing your food cooked for you, the staff are welcoming and the table service is good. Yo Ji offer food which melts in your mouth it is presented well and all meals I have had there have been of the same standard. The puddings are limited but very good. The price is not low but for a special evening is well worth a visit.
