Goodfellows at 7B – WellsMet our expectations, great food and excellent service. We will revisit.
The Olive Tree Restaurant – WellsA favourite - time after time and never disappointed - the taster menu provides a wonderful journey through the menu. The best fish, superbly presented, and service excellence. We loved the previous venue and yet 7B surpasses with its intimate setting. A thoroughly recommended dining experience!
Goodfellows at 7B – WellsThroughly enjoyable evening in a lovely setting with excellent service. Fantastic wine too!
Goodfellows at 7B – WellsFood was good but very disappointing service. Staff were young and not very interested in making sure customers had a good experience. The wrong food was brought to us twice. The second time the wrong food was brought to us it was left sitting on the table for a few minutes. We didn't start eating it as the wrong sides had been brought over and we were waiting for the correct ones. We were then told that this food was not for us but for another table (the customers of that table had actually arrived after us). This food was then put in front of the customers who had ordered it and after it had gone downstairs again first. Understandably they did not feel like eating it. The waiter then offered to remake the food and keep the sides warm for them. The couple then informed the waiter they would leave - upon hearing this instead of apologising for the mix up, offering to make everything fresh again and trying to make things right he just leapt to the kitchen to cancel the fresh food order. We were also apologised to but it did not feel at all sincere. I was very disapointed as it seems most diners here have a good experience. The waiting staff really need to be retrained.
The Olive Tree Restaurant – WellsOne of the best meals we have had in a very long time. Will visit the next time we are in the area.
The Olive Tree Restaurant – WellsWhat a gem, food was divine and the service fantastic.
The Olive Tree Restaurant – WellsMeal & service first class . The staff were very pleasant & couldn't do more to make it a very pleasant lunch time meal, also good value for money. The restaurant was also spotless .Will visit again if we go back to Wells that's for sure.
The Olive Tree Restaurant – WellsWe had a lovely Sunday Roast at the Olive Tree on Father’s Day. The best beef we have had in a long time. A nice relaxed atmosphere and very friendly staff.
The Olive Tree Restaurant – WellsFirst visit to The Olive Tree as we are not local. The food and reviews looked really good from the reviews when we were looking for somewhere. The food did not disappoint, was probably one of the best meals I’ve had, duck was cooked perfectly. The service is what let it down, we were seated rather quickly and waiter was friendly, our alcoholic drinks arrived also quickly however the water was slower. We were asked if we wanted desert menus which we asked for however we were forgotten about and after 20 mins my husband had to re ask, then after 10 mins of the waitress not bringing them and carrying bottles we caught her eye and then she brought over one menu and we were told we needed to share where as other tables were given one each. Tables were served before us who had entered after us. It felt as though it was a rush to get us in and provide the starters and mains but after that we were forgotten about. It was also slightly ruined by the couple we were sat next to, as it was a rather small restaurant the tables are close together, there was a couple on a date who clearly had drunk alot and were rather loud along with swearing which ruined a really lovely atmosphere. Overall it was good and I would recommend however the service could have been improved. We had gone for our 10 year wedding anniversary it would have been nice to have been spoken to, to see if we had come out for a special occasion just to make it that extra special and show real passion for the customer
The Olive Tree Restaurant – WellsVisited for father's day Sunday lunch. Free bottle of Corona for father was a nice touch. Food very good, hot and tasty. Price a little on the high side but I'd rather pay a bit more and know it will be good quality. Service very good and attentive. Will definitely go back. Thank you.
The Olive Tree Restaurant – WellsFood was enjoyed by all. Portions a little small. Atmosphere good and service excellent
The Olive Tree Restaurant – WellsPrevious visit to The Olive Tree was excellent but this time the service was very slow to non-existent. When I complained about waiting so long for our food I was told they were very busy, but the restaurant was not full. It felt to us as though the kitchen was short staffed and that front of house were avoiding customers as a result. Food was ok but the menu needs to change more often.
The Olive Tree Restaurant – WellsWe had a delicious lunch with friends and were not hurried at all( we were the last to leave). Felt impressed enough to book lunch for the following week.
The Olive Tree Restaurant – WellsOutstanding
The Olive Tree Restaurant – WellsWe thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Goodfellows - our dinner courses were all prepared with elegance and imagination, service was "impeccable", as the saying goes (and it was), and the setting warm and intimate. It is great fun to enjoy food and company when all is done so thoughtfully and with such finesse. Thank you!
Goodfellows at 7B – WellsMy wife and I had dinner at The Olive Tree on Friday 7 June 2024. The restaurant had been recommended by the Beryl bed and breakfast where we stayed for the night. We both really enjoyed our meals. We shared an onion bhaji starter that was light and delicious. I had the pork cheek main - which was tender and tasty - and my wife had hake in a chowder sauce that was also delicious. I had the treacle tart for pudding - which was nice but not remarkable - and my wife had the Eton mess which was lovely. The atmosphere and service was good and, unsurprisingly, the place was fairly full. Overall, a very nice meal and experience - and much better than we had expected.
