Junior Poon – ClevedonLived in weston for 10 years and never had a bad meal from them. Very friendly staff and great food.
Curry Garden – Weston Super MareMy mother and i visited the Wessex flyer today at 5pm, we ordered our food, we waited 35 minutes for it to arrive, we could of understood the wait if it was busy but there were only us and 2 other tables of two there ! our food arrived on a massive tray which the waitress placed on top of a stand to serve us are meals looked presentable, if only we had cutlery to eat it with, the waitress scooted off to get this and also some mint sauce and ketchup.5 minutes passed by still no cutlery and green beans aren’t exactly finger food. Soon i asked another waitress 4 some cutlery, she promptly fetched us some. i then asked a waiter for the sauce we requested ,he arrived with it when we had finished our meals, i think they had to go and pick the mint and the tomatoes and make it fresh!! Not happy a very poor service for the amount of staff that seemed to be on duty including the three that were sat by the door entertaining their friend.
Wessex Flyer – KingswoodA wonderful experience - For an exciting introduction to Indian food try the Miahs Special Chicken. Plenty of flavour and not too hot.
New Miahs – StreetWhat an awful evening! a group of thirty of us had a very disappointing experience. The soup was cold, the bread came out after everyone had finnished their starter, the salmon was lovely, but the mash with it was luke warm, the three people that had the risotto went hungry, because it was inedible, and others had more bone than veal. The chocolate fondant was nothing more than ordinary. At thirty pounds a head, this was not the standard of food or service we were expecting. We had had excellent meals there in the past, but certainly won't be going back.
Glassboat – Bristol City CentreIn no uncertain terms do not relate this restaurant to the high standard restaurant it used to be. I frequently went with my husband before it changed hands. I was part of a fairly large pre booked group. We had a secluded area that was separated by a curtain. The surroundings were lovely. The starters were acceptable. Unfortunately the soup was cold. As the waiter had disappeared everyone ate it and didn't grumble. The flavour was nothing that a school child could not have produced. The main course was dreadful. The Chicken was tasteless. The veal had more bone that meat. The mashed potato with the salmon was stone cold. The risotto was so over cooked it had turned to mash and three people sent it back to the kitchen. The head waiter appeared and was no help at all. His manner was incrediably rude and patronosing. (Bear in mind this was a group of professional people dining). The people who complained about the risotto had it replaced. Th replacement was even worse than the origional. This is not a hard dish to make. This again was sent back with serious complaints about the food. Ignored. Those who sent the risotto back were left with no food at all until desert. Desert was the best bit. Too be honest you can't really mess up cheese and biscuits. Unfortunatly when the coffee arrived I only had an inch full in my average sized cup and had to ask for more. The waiting staff were very good and did a good job when all diners were unhappy. The management was dreadful and after a complaint were not seen again. Sadly as it was a professional meeting we had all pre paid for the meal as I would have not paid full price otherwise. I would not recommend this place at all now to anyone.
Glassboat – Bristol City CentreOnce we discovered the Raj we didn't use any other Indian. Now we live in Western Australia we miss our Saturday night curry with a passion. You just can't get a decent Indian like Raj in WA. Give it a go you wont regret it. We didn't!
Raj Mahal The – Staple HillWe visited the camelot yesterday for a meal, the menu had been changed and much improved since we last visited. My husband had fish chips and mushy peas ( always a good choice).Whilst i opted for steak and scampi (which consisted of a 5oz very tender steak and approx 6 pieces of scampi. My sons had sausage filled yorkshire pudding (of a very ample size) and my daughter had cheeseburger chips and beans the meal cost £20.75 very reasonable. And the childrens play area is brilliant for the kids to run off some steam
Camelot Inn – Wellsit's pricey, but well worth it. a diamond and it has raised the bar in Bristol. At last a London style venue, with fantastic food, here in Bristol and not an 18 year old to be seen!
Goldbrick House – Bristol City CentreService slow and less than friendly. Had to get own drinks from bar as the waitress seemed to lose interest. Eventually ordered. Chicken curry a little cold and pinkish. Pointed this out to the waiter who said he would consult the chef. Twenty minutes later waiter failed to reappear. Went to till to pay, saw waiter and asked if chef had any views on Chicken, he said he had "spoken to his mother" ,the chef, who said the chicken must have been ok as it had been cooking for two days ???????? No offer of recompense in fact the waitress asked if we would like to include a gratuity when paying the bill. Poor food, unacceptable service. Went to Bath for desert !
Upton Inn – Longwell GreenWe were extremely disappointed when we visited zero degrees on Sunday 16th September 2007. Although the food was very good, the service was appalling and the manager was wandering round whilst chewing a cocktail stick without a care in the world. Would only go back for the food but they need new and more staff.
Zerodegrees – Bristol City Centreone of my favourite thai haunts
Lotus Flower – TauntonAfter reading the write up about the restaurant and the chef/owner's experience in Italy, we were dying to try the restaurant! Lovely location on the river, it seemed perfect for Sunday lunch. We couldn't have been more disappointed! How could such a restaurant offer crab sticks as part of its prawn and crab cocktail starter?? How could they serve roast beef swimming in gravy which was identical to the gravy served with the tough pork??? The potatoes were inedible and had probably been standing in water long before they were cooked. All in all very surprisingly disappointing
Bathwick Boatman Restaurant – Baththe pub is very nice and the food is all now home cooked its the best night out
Cartwheel The – KingswoodWaited over an hour for the food to arrive and when it eventually arrived one meal was cold and the other meal was still frozen! Not a pleasant experience in the slightest and the Manager was very rude!
Griffin Inn – Longwell GreenI read the reviews on this website and was really disappointed by the quality of food I received. Part of my order was missing( take away)and I was shortchanged. I have been to many Indian restaurants in Bristol and I would not recommend this one.
Ahmed’s Curry Cafe – Bristol City CentreAverage sort of Indian restaurant but avoid the onion bhaji as they are the worst you will ever eat.
Mumtaz Restaurant – Westbury-on-TrymThis cafe / restaurant serves the best vegetarian food ever ! No doubt about it. Seriously, excellent ! The owners however, are not so excellent. It seems a pity that they themselves are not vegetarians, I know this because I asked them. They often readily imply or even say that they are vegetarians. I find this most offensive. Not only are they not vegetarian, but the main woman (Penny) is into fox hunting…..Seems unbelievable to me, a bit of a contradiction in terms. Penny seems to be a wonderful, humorous, light hearted, and extremely likeable person at first, be assured, she is NOT ! I have found her to be an ignorant, judgmental, and incredibly grudge bearing woman, who will never apologize no matter how wrong she frequently turns out to be. She really hurts her friends, myself included. Also, she is a devastating snob. If she thinks you’re important in some way, you’re ‘in’…..but, needless to say this is short lived when she realizes you are just the same as anybody else. Then she’ll almost certainly turn on you, and you’ll end up being ‘out’ ! As I said earlier, food is brilliant, but keep yourself to yourself re-Penny and you’ll be OK, getting to know her is a different matter ! Rather stay anon if you don’t mind…..
