The Royal Oak – NantwichFirst time back at the Royal Oak since it’s refurbishment. Booking a table via the website was easy. Warm and friendly greeting from the staff upon arrival. Food was very good . Definitely will return soon
The Royal Oak – NantwichFood was good. Service a bit iffy - had to chase multiple times for menus/ wine choice ran out after first bottle/ bill miscalculated/ no real sense of anyone looking after our table of four.
Lilac Cottage Tapas & Wine Bar – MacclesfieldFirst visit after some friends recommended to try. Newly refurbished and very tastfully decorated. Couldn't give a great rating for atmosphere because we booked for 6pm on a Wednesday, so not many people there at that time. Really enjoyed the meal and very reasonably priced. Would definitely visit again.
The Royal Oak – NantwichLovely meal, lovely environment and great service from Jack, we will be back
Lilac Cottage Tapas & Wine Bar – Macclesfielddelicious food and a very clean and well-kept place and the service was very nice. We were very pleased and we will definitely come back there more than once.
The Royal Oak – NantwichWent for a mix week visit as a table of 5. The food and the service was very good. The staff where very friendly and most on the night came to the table. The menu was good value and we will definitely be back.
The Royal Oak – NantwichThe food was excellent. Service was really good, considering how busy they were. (Not surprising due to how good the food was.) I very much recommend this place. Once you've been, you'll keep coming back.
The Royal Oak – NantwichOne of our favourite places in Chester! A must if you’re looking for a lovely date night spot
Carbonara at No 49 – ChesterWe visited The Royal Oak on Sunday 3rd July and were very pleased that it was a Sunday Roast on the menu as we didn't see this on the website. They were a little slow in taking the orders (only to be expected as new staff finding their way around) but it was definitely worth the wait. We booked our table for 2pm and everything on the menu was available. We had the prawn cocktail and short rib bon bons for starters and roast beef to follow. Everything was cooked to perfection! Roast beef was delicious and tender and the veggies cooked perfectly and not swimming in butter! We will definitely be visiting again in the very near future. Well done to all the team, you made our first visit a welcoming one!
The Royal Oak – NantwichSunday lunch 3rd July Attended the pub on the above date and found the experience quite mixed. When we arrived we were told that half of the starter menu was no longer available (however an alternative was offered). Service was quite slow and had to wait over half an hour for the main course after the starter. However, the biggest issue was the fact that the regular menu (found on your website) was not available on a Sunday. This would’ve been ok had this been advertised on your website and to make it clear that there is a set menu on a Sunday. Also, if you are willing to offer the vegan burger option as an alternative to the Sunday roast, then please can you cater for people who are not vegans and wish to be offered the choice of a regular burger please? I also noticed on your website menu that you offer a vegan lasagne and vegan cottage pie, but no traditional lasagne or cottage pie? It is obviously a very good move to cater for vegan customers to which no sensible person would have an issue with, including myself, but not everyone in today’s world is vegan, or wants to eat vegan food, so surely it isn’t too much to ask to offer the traditional non-vegan alternatives to what are very popular pub meal options. Your pub is beautiful, wonderful setting in an incredible building and grounds, just please offer more choice and cater for all customers.

Babba – WarringtonI echo the sentiments of the reviews. The main problem as I see it is that their needs to be more staff for a busy night like Saturday. Lovely place.
