The Cheshire Yeoman – Ellesmere PortWe went out for a meal on Thursday evening for a change and sat in the top corner of the downstairs bar area. I initially thought upstairs would be much nicer when you’re coming out for a 3 course meal with wine etc HOWEVER, I was mistaken. With the guidelines in place and the table service the ambience was perfect. We had a fab evening and this was my first time eating out for an evening meal since before March. The food was amazing and we both felt the same about our meals. I had prawn, chorizo in chilli sauce with crusty bread and he had homemade duck rolls which he really raves about. Then I had sea bass with prawns, chorizo, veg and sweet potato fries, followed by Ice cream for him and chocolate brownie with ice cream for me. We swished it down with a couple of beers (him), a gin (me) and a beautiful bottle of Shiraz. The whole evening was really great. I personally was thrilled that our first venture out together since before March was so lovely and went so well, as I am still very Covid cautious. The whole bar area was set out great with clear partitions between tables and bar. The new arrangements are clearly more tiresome for staff and they deserve a medal for all they are having to do in general and between each table booking. Well done Nick and Karen and thank you for all you are doing to keep us safe but entertained, it is much appreciated. We will certainly come again .... as after all, it is our local and we have missed you, and the beer he would say. xxx
Helter Skelter – FrodshamWe used a Christmas voucher, and chose the bottomless cream tea deal. It was a momentous occasion, as our first trip out coming over the border from Wales since the lockdown. It was perfect all the way through. I phoned pre arrival to check as I'd given two different times and been told it was up to us, and that our wish to sit outside could be respected but it was rather windy. Sam's customer focused and friendly approach at that point and throughout our visit ensured that our experience was highly memorable and felt special and chilled. We chose to sit indoors where he'd already laid the table nicely for us. The food was varied and delicious; we were able to take our time, and the bubbles flowed. he struck the perfect balance of being attentive without being intrusive. We wish you all the best with the new venture in the garden with the VW Beetle bar..... we can't wait to return ! Massive thanks, or as we say in Wales, diolch o galon = translated means thank you from the heart. Rhiannon and Nia.
The Townhouse & Secret Garden – ChesterAlthough booked on line for 7 pm there was a queue. However got in around 7.20 pm. The food and service once seated was excellent!
Purple Pakora – MarpleHave always enjoyed my visits here but not on this occasion. As many others have stated, we booked online but arrived to meet a queue and 30 min wait outside for no reason or any apology given. Restaurant was busy given current Gov promo but unhappy to find very cramped and table spacing very poor given current public health COVID-19 Pandemic. Our table for two was so close to another that they struggled to serve the other without disturbing us all the time. It was also in the walk way through the restaurant so once again constantly disturbed. I can’t imagine our table being in place under normal circumstances ... which says it all! Food and service was good but overall we felt like a commodity not a customer this evening. Disappointing... will be a while before I consider coming again, if at all.
Purple Pakora – MarpleHad a lovely meal. Atmosphere was lovely. Food presented lovely. Always enjoy our meals at the helter skelter
Helter Skelter – FrodshamFood exceptional as always service very good always with a smile and friendly. It’s our first time in since lockdown and Borak has done an amazing job with the renovation! As for COVID-19 all rules adhered to felt very comfortable, our dining experience was not affected . We will be back soon
Elmas Restaurant – LymmJust love this restaurant. Great food and service!
Elmas Restaurant – LymmGreat food, friendly staff and a fine selection of real ales.
Helter Skelter – FrodshamBooked online for 7.30pm and told to join the already long queue of people who had also pre-booked. It was total chaos. We were seated just before 8pm......our main didn’t arrive until 9.20pm. However the food here is amazing......and I would definitely come again. BUT not on the government sponsored nights.
Purple Pakora – MarplePre booked a table for 7pm turned up at 6.50pm to find a queue of people outside all pre booked to be told the resturant was full, they had just let people that hadn't booked in and taken our tables . I emailed a complaint but didn't bother to reply . Would not recommend.
Purple Pakora – MarpleBooked a table for 7pm Tuesday 18th using the online booking service and also called just to confirm, arrived at 6.50pm to find people cueing from the door into the car park, what a joke, asked a member of staff gave no explanation other than an they had over booked. So can’t comment on food as we didn’t actually get in the place.
Purple Pakora – MarpleVery disappointed with our takeaway meal! Phoned to ask if they would be able to do a a takeaway as I'm self isolate due to undergoing treatment and it was our anniversary and was told that everything they do a the restaurant they could do and it would just like eating in but unfortunately it would be at full price as they couldn't give us the 50% off Eat out to help out" Not a problem it was our anniversary and I've eaten there several times before so I was happy with it. How wrong I was! We ordered Giant prawns with garlic oil - £8.95 we received 4 small prawns the size of a 10p piece with no garnish. Each prawn cost £2 (get bigger prawn at the Chinese takeaway) Pulpo with potatoes - £9.95 we received 8\9 thin small pieces of Pulpo (around half of a small Pulpo tentacle) although we did get quite a bit of potato! Each small piece of Pulpo cost £1 Meat balls - £6.75 we received 4 small meat balls (size of large marble) in sauce very nice but not at that price. Each cost £1.69 no garnish Marinated chicken skewers- £7.50 we received 4 skewers with 4 pieces of chicken and some veg no garnish was very tasty but unfortunately around 4 middle pieces were still uncooked! No good Goat cheese croquettes we received 3 croquettes very nice and small no garnish either. Each cost £1.75 Last but not least Pudding Almond cake 2 X £5.50 very thin slices (did take pictures but can't put on) thinner the a 2 finger kit kat to give you idea! Very upsetting as we couldn't anything as we live to far away and it was our anniversary. Meal came to £57.05 so please avoid!
