SKY at 27 Steakhouse, Bar and Kitchen – WarringtonLovely food. Partner loved the black pudding, I loved the Crispy Duck salad - wonderful, unusual flavours. Nice friendly family pub with possibly the youngest waiter in the North, Theo (aged 9 or so). Very helpful and hard working! What a great place, will definitely go again.
Dun Cow – KnutsfordJust goes to show how wrong some reviews can be. Recent visit left a lot to be desired about the food here. All meals in our party were to say the least, below average, and very small portions, and considering the slimeed down menu and over pricing it makes it even worse. Real shame, as this was always an excellent restaurant and one we visited and recommended regularly. NOT ANY MORE!!! We believe it has recently changed hands and would appear not for the better, pity, 3 out of 10 only.
The Thatch Inn – NantwichI have to say this was by far the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. I took my two kids for a Fathers day meal. There was nobody in the restaurant when we went in, but it was quite early so I thought that was ok even though a little unusual considering it was Fathers day. They had a special offer menu for lunch and early dinner. Which was 7.95 for 1 course and 9.95 for 2 courses. I ordered Calamari and a Pizza, my son just ordered 1 course flattened rump steak and my daughter chose from the A la Carte menu just a Margarita pizza. The Calamari was ok, quite a small portion so not such a good deal ordering the 2 dishes. My sons steak and my daughters pizza looked ok, but just ok. My pizza sounded really nice, Pizza with tomato, mozzarella, rocket italian ham and gran padano cheese shavings, very typical pizza you will find in italy so I thought it was a quite authentic choice. What I got was a margarita pizza with a few scattered leaves of rocket and a slice of italian ham laid on top pulled apart in an attempt to look like more and no Gran Padano at all. I took one look and was immediately disappointed with what sounded like a nice pizza looking so very sorry for itself. The waiter took it back and returned with a little slither of extra ham still no more rocket and still no sign of any gran padano cheese. It would have cost them nothing to at least attempt to appease a very disapointed customer so that we could all enjoy our meal. The waiter just dumped it down and said is that ok. I was honest and said doesn't really look much different which it didn't, the waiter then tried to explain it was because i had ordered from the specials menu (7.95) as appose to the A La Carte (9.49) so not a special as we where eating early in an all but empty restaurant, just a short measure! hardly the cheapest pizza at 7.95 either! I was disgusted by their complete lack of customer service, so told the waiter to forget it and said I didn't want it all. There was no offer to make good, no manager asking why I had felt so disappointed, no offer of another dish, just left me without a meal and my kids eating theirs, not a very nice Fathers day meal that turned out to be. As if that wasn't enough, when I asked for the bill they tried to charge me for the pizza I didn't have! I refused to pay for a meal I didn't have and was disgusted that they didn't even realise that they had ruined the whole meal for us all. Despite that I was willing to pay for what we did have. The manager or owner not sure what he was then threatened to call the police if I didn't pay for it ALL including the pizza I didn't have. Oh and told me I wasnt welcome back again! It was just horrendous I am 45 years old and have eaten in many restaurants throughout the world. Hands down this restaurant is the worst dining experience I have ever had.
Romazzino – NantwichMy husband and I went to Bunbury Arms yesterday evening (have been going to Bunbury Arms on and off for a few years) and we both had 8oz rump steak with chips, onion rings, tomato, 2 small mushrooms and garnish and Peppercorn and Diane sauce where we paid over £32 for just 2 meals. We were both disappointed with meal in respect of garnish not being fresh and sauces were tasteless and watery and also meal seemed a bit lost on plate. We were asked if our meals were ok when we FIRST got meal (as waiting for tomato sauce) so couldn’t really comment and then asked when we finished our meal to which we informed that we were disappointed and it was the worst meal we had ever had in there. The Waitress seemed to be shocked, and we were disappointed nobody came over to discuss our disappointment.
