If you want to treat yourself and your family to a really good Sunday Lunch, you cannot get better than here. The Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pud is as good as the best your mother could make. Probably better than most mother's, but not mine, I come from a family that appreciates and knows about good cooking and that is what you get here. I don't say they never get anything wrong, once I had an overdone (burnt) yorkshire pud, but the beef was perfect, the creamed leeks excellent and the rest of the veg. all you could wish for. I know that was a one off and would happily spend every Sunday here!
Barlounge – ChesterIf you want to enjoy a really good Chinese meal in Chester, this is your only option. Do not be put off by the setting, I was for years and consequently missed out for far too long. The tables are very close together and the decor is rather 'kitsch', but the food and service are both great. If you live close by and want to have a takeaway, it isn't a cheap option, but, it is usually ready in 15mins and you will be able to enjoy a restaurant quality meal in the comfort of your own home.
Cherry Valley Eating House – ChesterWe visited La Fattoria's predecessor, Vito's a few years back and decided on are turn visit. The name may have changed but the service, and especially, the quality and quantity of food has improved - if that was at all possible given Vito's excellent reputation at the time. As with all the best Italian restaurants a lot of what goes on in the kitchen is open view, giving the diner entertainment value as his pizza dough is rolled and spun to order as well as the peace of mind of knowing what the kitchen and staff are like. Service, when we visited on a weekday lunchtime, was bright, courteous and with just the right amount of briskness. The tomato and garlic bread for starters was crisp and light with an adequate amount of baked on passata to ensure that it didn't slide off the base. My partner's pollo alla Valdestana was moist and tender with good quality ham and mozzarella and, again, just enough tomato while my Pizza Fiorentina filled its huge plate to perfection with a topping of fresh spinach and a perfectly cooked egg ( one Fiorentina I once ordered had what looked alarmingly like bits of scrambled egg dolloped on top as an afterthought). The chilled Gavi to accompany the food had that zesty freshness which North Italian wines should always have. We'll definitely return to La fattoria next time we visit Chester. Hopefully it will still be the same in name as well as quality.
La Fattoria – ChesterMy wife and I had a beautiful meal in this traditional country pub.
Greyhound Inn At Saughall – Chesterjust found this after reading a local paper, super place, great with teenagers loved the 60s jukebox, food is great best in Chester apart from all the popular diner style burgers, and loads of other stuff, international specials brilliant fresh made Thai curry, guys ( gay ) are great as are rest of staff and used to live in far east so food for me was top. missus had Sardinian seafood stew with garlic bread, boys had huge hand made burger stacks with bacon/cheese and huge thick fries go see how good this place is deserves awards
Blue Moon Cafe – ChesterVisited the restaurant on Friday 13 March for a friend's celebratory graduation lunch. Very pleased that the baby change facility was in the ground floor disabled toilet so avoided struggling upstairs with baby, bag etc. The staff were very helpful, polite and professional. The food was spectacular! Chicken salad was delicious and baby (16 mths) ate most of the chicken & bacon, but as there was plenty meat in the dish, I sampled what was one of the best Entrees I've had in a long time! The whiting on the lunch menu was replaced by seabass, which was delicious, the whole meal was cooked to perfection. Followed by warm apple & pear crepe with Chantilly cream - exquisite! Every meal at the table was thoroughly enjoyed (7 meals) and under £9 for 2 courses was a fantastic price for an experience of food excellence. Will definitely return and can't wait!! This restaurant should be categorised under "fine dining" because that is what you will receive.
Chez Jules – Chestertop class place i have been coming here and ordering takeouts for about 10 years and always great standard of food for a good price and always greeted with a smile what more can i say you get treated like a king, keep up to good work lads
Spice Balti – ChesterThis is a great place to eat if you don't like food. we booked a table for 9 for a special occasion, but when we got there they had run out of virtually everything. they also ignored my letter sent a few days letter.
We have visited Carriages many times and have never been disappointed. The food is excellent and such good value, it truly is a little gem of a place hidden away in the beautiful Cheshire countryside. We certainly will go again and recommend it to anyone!
Carriages Restaurant – ChesterThis is a top class "traditional" Indian restaurant. Not much in the way of maple and chrome and dance music, but the food is outstanding, and the service/staff are brilliant. Highly recommended, good range of food, and VERY reasonably priced.
Spice Balti – ChesterWent to the Thai section of the restaurant with a group of friends. The food was very good and not over-priced. However, the service left much to be desired - the waiters were generally disinterested from the moment we turned up, the bill was incorrect in several respects and the service was slow. Pity, really.
Siam Thai and Teppanyaki – ChesterWe found this place by accident as we walked around the walls. It's lovely. We stopped in for a coffee while the rain passed, and booked a table in the picture window for the following day. Luckily the rain had stopped: the racecourse is the best view in the sunshine. The maitre d' was very friendly and helpful - my friend is in a wheelchair, and they were most accommodating - and the food was lovely. we left very full and not too light-of-pocket. we shall visit again. when in rome ...
1539 Restaurant and Bar – ChesterWe ate here after Chester races and had a fantastic meal for two. Although we were nearly an hour early we were seated with a drink and menu straight away. The menu choices are outstanding and the prices aren't as high as you'd expect. We had oysters, followed by three courses each, 3 peroni's, 1 bottle of water + tip was £80. Best lamb I've ever tasted as well. The full menu is on there own website. We would highly recommend this restaurant.
1539 Restaurant and Bar – Chesteri love oddfellows :) its my favorite place to sit back relax and enjoy a friendly drink with a few friends. i highly recommend oddfellows as the staff are extremely sexy!!! ooooooo ye there sexy!!! i love it
Cultivated by Elliot Hill @ Oddfellows – ChesterVery pleasant atmosphere, super value for money. I had the fish and chips which were excellent and others in on my table all enjoyed their meals. Friendly efficient staff.
The Coach House – ChesterDined for lunch in the Brasserie. Lovely building and service was pleasant. The black pudding starter was nice enough, although a little crisp on one edge. The bouillabaisse main course was probably as bad as I could expect. Out of the 6 mussels 4 were closed, the bisque was greasy and bland and the rest looked liked off cuts of old fish, probably not fit for the stock. If the Arkle was open we would have dined there, but if the same staff are cooking there then we probably saved a penny or two. Still £85 for three drinks, 1 starter and no dessert seems a rip off for the quality. We will not return.
La Brasserie @ The Chester Grosvenor and Spa – ChesterFriendly staff, inexpensive, lovely pastas, deserts bit of a let down after a lovely main meal, but didn't ruin the evening.
Ristorante Sergio – ChesterMidweek Menu: 2 courses for £16.
