Excellent food, excellent service, we ate from the offer menu 3 courses for £10.95 - fantastic value and quality
Italian Cottage – ChorleyExcellent food I simply love Italian food the Thursday night 3 courses for £10.95 is excellent value and choice as long as you do not mind being totalling ignored after 7,25pm and asked to leave immediately even though we were not told on booking or arriving that if you ate from this menu you had to leave without coffee before 7.30pm.This totally spoilt the night for me.
Italian Cottage – ChorleyWe have dined here on three occasions, food is nothing short of excellent , a really nice personal touch our second visit was a few months after we first ate there, and as we ordered our meals and a bottle of wine Ann Marie said " that's the same as you ordered last time" obviously taking note of customers likes . Going there is like going to grannies old house , lots of character, several rooms and excellent food " Just like Grannie used to make " We recommend this lovely restaurant .
Amelies – ChorleyExcellent food, always hot and very tasty. Very friendly, fantastic customer service. Everyone should recommend this put to their friends. It's great.
The Beaumont – ChorleyMy husband and I haven't been to the Yarrow Bridge for quite a while so we thought we would go for a meal on Sunday 22nd May 2011. The food was excellent and the staff were really helpful and friendly, we enjoyed it so much we shall be taking our family this week for a Birthday celebration meal.
Yarrow Bridge Inn – ChorleyFantastic food fantastic service, fantastic evening!!!
Amelies – Chorleyvisited three times, each time high standard of fresh food, cooked to perfection. Excellent service, comes highly recommended
The Golden Lion Hotel – ChorleyWe went for a meal for my Husband's 40th birthday and had a wonderful evening that far exceeded my expectations. The food was spectacular, the service was amazing and we were treated like royalty. 10/10 is just not a high enough score! We have lived within walking distance for 20 years and this was our first visit, boy have we been missing out! We can't wait to return, thoroughly recommended .
Haworths Restaurant at The Pines Hotel – ChorleyWe've just ordered a takeaway from La Rocca and, upon opening one of the cartons, found that the contents were badly burnt making the dish (mushrooms) inedible. When my wife rang up to complain, she was passed onto the "chef" who proceeded to question the validity of our complaint and demanded that we provide evidence. Remarkable, considering that the "chef" in question put the mushrooms in the carton only 20 minutes before and really should have known better. Why we would take the time to fabricate a complaint about a dish that cost £4.50 is difficult to comprehend. Of course, they had our money by this time and clearly didn't care about customer satisfaction. Suffice to say, we won't be returning to the culinary delights of La Rocca and their rude & incompetent "chef". Avoid.
La Rocca – ChorleyThe Plough Inn is the best pub food I have ever had - ever. The atmosphere is lovely the service is fast and friendly, the prices are reasonable and the food is outstanding. The menu is huge catering the usual favourites and also some exciting dishes too. If you can give 24 hours notice you can have the lobster - fantastic. I cannot fault the Plough Inn other than we can't always get a booking because it is so popular!!!
Plough Inn – Chorleyexcellent food and well mannered friendly staff. Polite bar staff Carl Jackson. Compliments to the chef. Would definitely recommend.
The Beaumont – ChorleyWe went to the yew tree in January to celebrate my mothers 50th birthday and have to say we will defiantly be back. The staff are extremely helpful and will always go that extra mile to ensure your evening is special. I opted for fillet steak which I asked asked for medium rare and that's exactly how it came. I must say as well, the veg of the day and fluffy hand cut chips complimented it very well. My mother had the fillet of sea bass which see said was to die for, I was surprised because see is usually very fussy with way she eats. We finished our puddings and was directed into a reserved area of the lounge next to the roaring log fire. We really enjoyed our evening and and got a big thank you when will left. We will definitely be back and will recommend to any friend or family member.
Yew Tree Inn – ChorleyThe Black Horse is a charming and delightful place to eat , my wife and I revisited with my sisters after a 40 + yrs away and missing the pub style meals of fish and chips and mushy peas . My what a treat we truly enjoyed the atmosphere and friendliness of the management. We have one regret not bring back the mushy pea recipe if you feel comfortable sending it we would appreciate it. Luddy & Soon , Marion, Indiana USA
The Black Horse – ChorleyWe have visited the Italian Cottage several times and have never been disappointed. Used to visit the Parmesan and Pepper they previously ran and was disappointed when this closed but at least now have got another favourite Italian. If you have a good appetite the starters are to die for, myself I find them too filling as wouldn't eat my main meal. Myself and partner Ian tend to share one of the garlic breads (a different one each time ) and the favourite is the chili onions garlic bread but all worth a try. You will not be disappointed with any of the main dishes either and have yet to find a favourite now. They have a specials board which changes and tends to be fish courses which are also nice and tasty. The staff there are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble,. Parking near the Italian cottage is not a problem either as there is a large car park within a minute walking. IF you have not been before give it a try but make sure you book as the place is so busy you may well get turned away.
Italian Cottage – ChorleyWe eat out regularly at this restaurant. It has excellent food, excellent staff and is a lovely place to visit. It has an atmosphere which makes you fell welcome whether you are popping in after work or dining out in style, a remarkable achievement. My friends travel to Chorley from Eccles (24 miles) to eat here with us!!!!
La Rocca – ChorleyI have visited the Malt house on several occasions within the last few years. I would consider it to be a good pub-restaurant within a lovely setting. Homemade fresh meals are fabulous especially the sweet potato chips! Never been disappointed yet.
The Malthouse Farm – ChorleyWe went for a meal at the Italian Cottage and was prepared for an average meal and experience, but were completely wrong!!! The service was friendly, unobtrusive and attentive. The food was absolutely gorgeous.....the garlic tomato bread was to die for! I love what they have done with the interior....... wooden floors and tables but adding warmth with leather chairs, dark accent wall with lots of different types of clocks, the spiral staircase and original oven range. Several people turned up without bookings but had to be turned away as they were so busy.....so make sure you book! It really was good food, good service and good atmosphere!!
Italian Cottage – ChorleyWow what a let down! Sorry but I had read all the reviews and genuinely visited with high hopes. Perhaps I am too fussy but the quality of the food and drink fell way way short of my expectations. I have never posted an adverse review before but here goes!!! Didn't get off to a great start as having read the blurb about a QE2 mixologist in charge of cocktails I thought let's go for it but the bellinis were just a glass of cheap champagne with cordial added at £6 a pop. I ordered a Paella which when it came was a dollop of soggy rice and seafood and didn't taste freshly cooked and a chicken tagine was nothing more than a chicken breast fillet that had been boiled in a tin of chopped tomato with a few bits added, . Notwithstanding the dissapointment with the food and drink by far the worst part was the reaction when I politely and discreetly tried to express my dissatisfaction. The waitress, who actually was very pleasant but obviously embarassed, seemed to understand my grievance and attempted to appease me by offering alcohol as compensation. When I explained that getting my money back, or getting drunk, wasn't the critical issue and asked to have a quiet word with a manager/proprietor/chef who I thought might have had some concerns with untouched food being returned She clearly indicated they werent really bothered and gave me an e-mail address instead. Sad to say I left with an empty soul and an empty stomach but thought fit to post here. I know many people love this plale and maybe I just had a bad experience but its nice to have a balanced view.
