Excellent food and (somehow) even better service! We had vegans, vegetarians, and meat-eaters at our table, and all had a wonderful meal! The waiters also made brilliant recommendations!

Amma’s Canteen – ChorltonOnly the best food is served here. I guarantee whether you’re a meat eater or vegan you will place the quality of this restaurant above all other cuisine you’re familiar with. The service was lovely and considerate, they are clearly well trained and will do whatever is required to ensure you have a pleasant stay. Whether for beer or for dinner, come here for an evening and tell me I’m wrong afterwards.
Amma’s Canteen – ChorltonFantastic! Our second visit but my first since having detected gluten intolerance, and there was so much range for someone gluten free (including a GF bottle of beer option). It's quite uncommon to be able to eat most things on menu. The golden plantain dessert is delicious. The staff were also on superb form and very friendly.
Amma’s Canteen – ChorltonA lovely evening.
Amma’s Canteen – ChorltonWonderful food. Authentic. Served with care.
Amma’s Canteen – ChorltonDelicious food, the Dosa was delicious, generous portions. Great service.
Amma’s Canteen – ChorltonFriendly staff, delicious food. Highly recommended!
Amma’s Canteen – ChorltonWe had a delicious dinner at Amma's last night. The smaller plates were cooked perfectly and had a great variety of favours and textures; the masala dosa and the lamb biryani were outstanding and the service was wonderful. We'll come back soon!
Amma’s Canteen – ChorltonTaste was good but poor customer service as had to wait longer than expected even for a glass of water. The quantity of the food was very less compared to the high price. So the overall experience was not satisfactory and I must say my first impression of this restaurant was not at all the best one indeed.
Amma’s Canteen – ChorltonBrilliant, brilliant, brilliant. Like no other Indian restaurant in Manchester.
Amma’s Canteen – ChorltonLove Amma’s! Amazing food. We usually share a selection of delicious street food dishes, and this time discovered the beetroot and cabbage oothapam, which was a revelation. Fabulous family run restaurant with helpful, friendly staff.
Amma’s Canteen – ChorltonThe food was a bit too hot. The lamb dish was good but the level of spiciness killed the dish in the end. Even the Uttapam was a too hot. Not sure what is going on with the spice levels in the kitchen. I should note we are Indian as well so not averse to spice. But this was certainly on another level. Still it;s not easy to find South Indian / Keralan food in the UK so it was a welcome change.
Amma’s Canteen – ChorltonAmma’s Canteen never fails to deliver on taste and quality, we always enjoy our our evenings at Amma’s our only complaint is that we don’t live closer! Amazing every time.
Amma’s Canteen – ChorltonThe food was amazing and the staff were lovwly and friendly
Amma’s Canteen – ChorltonWe had such high hopes for Amma’s having read all the reviews, but to be honest we were disappointed. I love chilli usually but we found it too hot which killed the flavour (for us), I could have done with a chilli rating on the menu or options to have it milder. The staff were completely friendly but quite confusing about the menu and allergens and our server had such a loud voice we had to listen to every table’s order in detail. It killed the vibe in a small space. The cauliflower bezule was really unusual and I did like it, aside from the chilli burn, which meant I had to drink beer with every mouthful. I enjoyed the chicken dosa but didn’t love it, it looked amazing but was much drier than others I’ve had, even with the sides and again it was a bit hotter than I was comfy with to really enjoy it (although not as hot as other things). We also had a slow cooked beef curry which was the hottest of all and I found the flavour really harsh as well as hot, I was expecting more mellow and unctuous. I couldn’t eat it after the first spoonful. Lots of others seem to hugely rate it, so maybe it’s just us. I was sad we didn’t love it.
Amma’s Canteen – ChorltonHighly recommended and wish it were nearer to where I live.
Amma’s Canteen – ChorltonMy girlfriend and I finally had a delicious dinner at Ammas on Friday after having to cancel due to covid at Christmas. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was spectacular especially the cauliflower bezule, the chicken 65 and the masala dosa. We can’t wait to come back again.
Amma’s Canteen – ChorltonMy wife, son and I visited Ammas canteen on Saturday evening for a mothers day meal. We have visited several times in the past and as always the evening was fantastic, we adore the food, the service is always excellent, the staff friendly and chatty. It was our first visit since the lifting of the post pandemic restrictions, the place was busy with large and small groups, great to see after the last 2 years. We have a soft spot for Ammas and do not need any real occasion to eat there, we wholeheartedly recommend it if you are out in Chorlton.
