Having read the previous reviews we decided to sample the food and hospitality at The Wheatsheaf Inn. We were definitely not disappointed. The food and staff were second to none and we would recommend this hostelry as a must visit venue. Great value, great food and great service.
Wheatsheaf Inn – CleckheatonVisited the wheatsheaf on 23/12/11 really looked forward to it arrived 6.30 four of us sat down at the table, the starters were really good. looked forward to the mains 3 ordered the calves liver which was superb, I ordered the duck when it arrived I ate the first mouthful went to cut in again and it was raw and very bloody asked if they could re-cook it arrived back fully micro-waved could not cut into it like rubber the waitress said they served it rare the fat was slimy went on to the desserts 3 sticky toffee puddings superb mine the belgium choc brownie with rum and raisin ice-cream, the ice-cream was melting fast, the brownie was burnt solid could not get the spoon in like i said solid, the waiter came over and took it away and get me another one it arrived it was sticky toffee without the sauce it had dates in it not a brownie. No apoligies. People either side of me ordered duck a bit wary because of my complaint but theirs arrived 4 in total theirs were perfect fell off the leg. Was the chef practising on mine. I will never go back it appears its pot luck some have a good meal some bad its like a lottery so if your lucks in your on to a winner like i said won't be going back
Wheatsheaf Inn – CleckheatonWent to the Akash last night - will never be going again. the waiter who seated us didn't understand us. We went up for the buffet and it was cold, the curries had all grease floating on top of them an were watery, all in all not a very nice experience

We visited during a recent holiday and can't disagree more with the comments of Andrew in Cleck. The atmosphere was pleasant and welcoming and the food was simply fantastic, so much so we ate there both nights of our stay in the area. Really well worth a visit, please don't be put off by its slightly off the beaten track location!

We asked to speak to the Chef Adam, and he came out and we congratulated him. He was very gracious in his thanks. Wheatsheaf Inn – CleckheatonFirstly - The food is good. Pub food at its very best on some occasions. However, you really have to consider, that is the kitchen area is as filthy & disgusting as the Gents toilets and outside garden area then be wary you don't get a nasty bug. On the last 2 occasions I have been in this pub - it never fails to make me gip when I go to the gents. If there is loo paper its a bonus, the stench is unbearable and reminiscent of a dead animal lying in there for weeks on end. The hand wash facilities are poor - so I would imagine the waiting staff have difficulty cleaning correctly after a visit to the loo. How can you have food served to you in a place like this when the hygiene in the loos is despicable. My wife was going to inform the Council but we decided not to bother going to this place ever again until the loos are sorted. Eat there if you may. But if you catch a nasty bug or fancy the smell of dead rats whilst you dine from the loos then you have been warned.

Aldo’s Pizzeria – CleckheatonI have been to this place a few times myself. The beer is excellent and the front beer garden is superb and dog friendly. Although a lot could be said for the staff. It have a very cliquey atmosphere a kind of "this a local pub for local people" feel about it.
Wheatsheaf Inn – CleckheatonVisited Aldos 1/7/11 and was extremely impressed with the quality of the food, the high standard of service and the new lovely bar area. The restaurant was bustling with bags of atmosphere. A real good eatery, modestly priced. Will certainly be back to try the new Italian beers.

Aldo’s Pizzeria – CleckheatonWe have been going to Aldos since 1985 and have enjoyed every meal we have had. We have taken the children and gone with family and friends and always been made welcome. We started going when Aldo first opened and the food and atmosphere was excellent..Now his son in law runs it and everything is just as good. The only way to describe it is brilliant super and i would recommend it anyone and guarantee you will have a enjoyable evening. Long may it continue.

Plenty of menu choice, would recommend to anyone wanting a taste of classic Italian dishes in West Yorkshire.

Aldo’s Pizzeria – CleckheatonI recently went to Aldos after hearing recommendations, I have to say I was not disappointed! The atmosphere is fantastic! The food is brilliant and the staff could not have been more helpful or entertaining!! I only expected to be going for a meal but my party and I spent the entire evening in the restaurant and the newly opened bar next door, we didnt want to leave! A wonderful restaurant, unbelievable choice of food-I recommend the specials board- a varied choice of cocktails, wine, Prosecco and Champagne!! Such a wonderful evening! I will be most definitely becoming a regular customer!! Try for yourself you wont be disappointed!
