Best cottage pie I can recall having. Great location in the countryside outside of Clitheroe and its got rooms. May have to go and stay so I can sample the beer too!

The Red Pump Inn – ClitheroeWe visited Mitton Hall last Saturday for evening drinks. The decor is exquisite, the building is breathtaking, the atmosphere is encapsulating. The place is unique in that it simply has everything, attentive staff, exciting menus, a fabulous setting, a real sense of historical interest and breathtaking countryside. We are eager to revisit as soon as possible and have recommended it to many friends.
Mitton Hall – ClitheroeThis is borderline ok. Had an early supper here with family. Like Weezo's very much but this is different. Historic village pub with an immediate audience. Food sounds good but could have been better in our view.
Parkers Arms – ClitheroeOur second visit this weekend. My review is it is consistently good. We visited in August (I reviewed it in here) after finding it by mistake. The place was very busy on Saturday and we were pleased we reserved a table, although it seemed so unhurried and relaxed, we instantly chilled out and wished we'd booked a oom to stay the night like the couple on the next table to us. Superb food as our last visit. Starters included a spicy crab cake with mango salsa and the home-made gravalax were excellent. My main course was a steak, I went for a fillet this time it was Pendle extra matured beef and I ate it with a butter knife, it was excellent and had flavour. My wife had belly pork; ridiculously fattening but sublimely sweet. The puddings have gotten better since our summer visit. A blackcurrent sponge with licorice ice cream was amazing. This is not the place if you want to people watch and pose, but if you like your food real and the other diners to chat to you in the cosy snug (where we were....right by the fire!) this is definately worth a visit or two. Superb. Our new fave place.
The Red Pump Inn – ClitheroeNewly opened pub my family are are familiar with. New chef "Heathcote".... is not a rite of passage to super cuisine of the more well know name sake as you are led to believe by the excessive marketing which led me to try it. Admittedly it was quiet when I went (Friday night) and lacked atmosphere but you can sense it is trying and that has to be commended. Rather bland starter of goats cheese and beetroot followed by seabass which was acceptable and flavoursome and well seasoned. I was a single diner and felt like it! Staff were nice and I will go back when others have found it and it's found its feet and settled in.
Duke of York – ClitheroeThe food has certainly gone down hill recently, i am not sure how a restaurant with such outstanding food can now be serving such dull offerings.I would never return
Eaves Hall Country Hotel – ClitheroeHere you will find first class modern British cooking, consisting of a standard menu of staple recipes combined with an inspired and imaginative specials menu. A minor criticism was the lack of atmosphere, but the place has only recently reopened and with the quality and price of the food it’s popularity will ensure success. Visit as soon as possible before prices rise and tables become scarce.
Duke of York – ClitheroeWell I’m speaking for a lot of people here. We have been eating here and the emporium for some years now and has been terrific. Everything we have eaten has been fabulous and now Mitton hall has come along to join the family. we went last Saturday and the place its amazing the food was great, staff were passionate when serving. what ever you buy next we will surely visit.

Mitton Hall – ClitheroeExcellent, excellent, excellent that’s all I can say you have put Mitton back on the map. The menus are just great and reasonably priced. I prefer Mitton hall than the three fishes it’s gone down hill. Congratulations!!!
Mitton Hall – Clitheroe*This is a copy of a letter which I sent to the General Manager on Thursday 3rd January 2008.* It is with regret that I write to inform you of the dining experience that I encountered at ‘Mitton Hall’ on Friday 28th December 2007. I have never written to complain about the service I have received in a restaurant and having been a waiter for over four years, feel that I am more lenient than most when it comes to serving standards. My mother, father and partner booked a table for 7.30pm in the restaurant part of ‘Mitton Hall’, our order was taken in the bar area and we were eventually shown to our table. The wine that we ordered was brought over to our table by a member of staff who thought it was appropriate to handle the bottles like juggling clubs by their necks. The starters arrived, I ordered the goats cheese which was extremely small and my father ordered the duck which was extremely large. The difference in price (to my memory) was only a couple of pounds. I was left rather hungry whilst my father was left with far too much on his plate. My father’s starter was also very dry and rather tasteless. My main course, the veal, was grey, tough and tasteless, the cassoulet was equally tasteless. My parent’s, who both ordered the steak, were equally as disappointed with their main courses, especially as the sliced steak seemed to have been a jumble, taken from two different pieces of meat. The main courses, without vegetables and side dishes, simply did not justify their price, even by London standards. We had no consistent waiter throughout the evening. When we asked a waitress to order a bottle of white wine, it never appeared until we asked our French waiter. He had the cheek to check that we were not just ‘confused’ and that the partially empty bottles were the ones that we had ordered. This same waiter was then extremely intrusive and rude when we ordered coffee. My father ordered a ‘white coffee’, to which this waiter replied “cappuccino?”, to which I clarified that all my father wanted was a simple black coffee with milk, put simply, “a café au lait”. The waiter then suggested that I clearly knew “more about coffee than him - a Frenchman”. This kind of ‘banter’, even if meant in a jovial way, is extremely unbecoming of an establishment which charges in excess of £15 per main course. When we asked for the bill, the side salad which we ordered (and never materialised) was still on the bill. I had to ask for it to be removed and another bill was printed. The final nail in the coffin came at the end of the meal when my father and I went to pay the bill near the front door. Our French waiter quite literally ‘ripped’ the handheld debit card terminal from the employee who was dealing with our bill. The only reason I can think of him doing this was to see whether or not we had a left a tip. We had not. This is the first time in my life that I have not tipped a waiter. I look forward to hearing your comments on this matter and have provided my email address below. Yours Sincerely,
Mitton Hall – ClitheroeThe nicest restaurant I've ever visited, including all the 5* one's, this venue is going to be the setting for my Daughters wedding. The food is tasty and healthy, beautifully presented and inexpensive. The coffee is fabulous, and the staff are helpful and friendly and welcoming. A great time was had by all, thanks Zack & Catherine for a fabulous experience. I loved the music and the views are tremendous. Looking forward to the wedding reception next year, Janet.

Amico Mio – ClitheroeMitton Hall has been through a truly remarkable transformation over the the last months! i attended friends wedding last year and thought that the hotel was fantastic and the location was idyllic. I visited for a meal a few weeks back and was amazed by the total turn around of the place. The staff where extremely friendly and we didn't have one problem, which i must say is very unusual in hotels and restaurants today! WELL DONE and keep doing what you doing and you will be a huge success in the area!
Mitton Hall – ClitheroeMaurice, Ria, Zak, Barry , Russell & Andy thankyou all for making our wedding day so very special everyone was so kind and attentive. All our guest commented on have fantastic the food , service and kindness everyone was so thanks again have Great Christmas and wonderful new year
Mitton Hall – ClitheroeMitton hall has gained a new lease of life finally. Previously was not that great. But the WABURTONS and there MANAGERS have done it proud. A personal thankyou to Barry, Russell and Ria and all staff who were very attentive last Wednesday evening we normally go out and have a three course dinner. But we so the TAPAS style menu first and was taken away with it. So we ordered MONKFISH SKEWERS, LOBSTER TEMP, PORK SCHEWAN, OUZI YAKI and what a lot you do get for the price. THE FOOD WAS BETTER THAN FANTASTIC but i will spread the work about this establishment Merry Christmas and happy new year
Mitton Hall – ClitheroeFinally Mitton Hall is what it should have been for years, friendly and professional staff. We wanted for nothing. Zak will cater for your every need and Andy will ensure you enjoy yourself pre and post dinner. Well done James you have exceeded yourself.
Mitton Hall – ClitheroeA pleasant surprise, having visited Mitton Hall for a family occasion we were all treated with absolute care and professionalism throughout. A friend and I were also witness to a truly fantastic rhetoric by the somewhat eccentric barman how the resurrection of Mother Theresa and Ghandi would not interfere with his deliveries. The passion from the staff shines through. A must
