Black Rock Restaurant – St IvesLauncestons holds a Fish and Chip Quality Award from the National Federation of Fish Friers. It is one of only a handful of shops around the country to have this award. You can be confident of the quality of the product and the service at this shop
Launceston Fryers Fish and Pizza Bar – Launcestonwell, what can i say about The Queens Hotel.. i went there last week for an evening meal with my family and found the newly refurbished hotel to great taste. The menu was excellently written with superb choices. The staff were extremely helpful with every request we had, and were very pleasant towards the children. When the food arrived, it was exactly as the menu had described, nothing pretentious, just good, honest food, and all at an excellent price. We will be back very shortly. Excellent
Queens Hotel – St IvesWe tried the recently re-launched Queens this Sunday after hearing about the new chef and menu. The roast pork was flavoursome and cooked perfectly, the veg were also interesting and the puds were delicious. We will go again to try the normal menu soon. Best roast in St Ives at £10 for 2 courses.
Queens Hotel – St IvesI live overseas and have travelled all over Europe and Chantek is the best Asian restaurant I have found so far! I have never seen such a range of dishes on a menu. The fish wrapped in banana leaf was fantastic, spices, ginger, and vegetables inside, complex tastes that worked together well, the fish perfectly cooked and tasted good, flavour from the leaf, aromatic, not too dry, a quite rare perfect dish. Sizzling seafood had many ingredients, the best things from the whole sea, but still fresh, with a delicious peppery sauce Tom yum had authentic Asian spices, especially galangal, very fresh, vegetables still crunchy with flavoursome roots. Crispy fish and mango salad, was a totally new dish for me, perfectly balanced. Pollack green curry was the best fish curry I ever had, served with aromatic coconut rice and chicken in pandan leaf was tender with aromas of pandan leaf coming through. ice creams were a pleasant surprise with a tri of oriental ginger, mango sorbet and coconut ice cream. The new Bonada red wine was a really nice complement to the food and the Chantini a memorable aperitif served with a whole star anise. The atmosphere was beautiful with the lights and colour combination, not too bright, it felt cosy and warm, quite modern and beautiful, the staff were warm and friendly too. It was good to see the open kitchen, I ate on both floors , the upper floor was even more cosy. I would recommend this to everyone Jana - Luxembourg
Chantek Thai and South East Asian Restaurant – TruroAt last, St Ives has a pub that does good food. I don't mean pub grub, I mean REALLY good food. Braised beef, battered ling, crispy duck ... you know, not fancy, just good. The chips are fat and delicious just as they should be, the chocolate brownies are to die for and there's not a mushroom risotto in sight (trust me, as a vegetarian, this matters). This is just what St Ives has been waiting for. And with mains at around £8, it's great value too. Highly recommended.
Queens Hotel – St IvesAt ‘Life’s a Beach’ the food is fantastic and you would go a long way to equal it. The restaurant has truly outstanding views! Smiley and friendly staff that make you welcome. Best place in Bude to eat!
Lifes a Beach – BudeWould thoroughly recommend this chip shop. Great chips and lovely fish in perfect batter.
The Bell Lane Fryer – BodminFantastic value for money. Lunch time specials were on a fiver but top quality. the chips are fab and the children's meals are great too. The fish was fresh and the batter was to perfection. The kids chicken was great, not what you would normally get in the way of chicken nuggets but a whole breast with lovely cajun seasoning. Lovely, friendly staff and great views of the harbour. A lovely place to while away the day with a nice bottle of wine. We even went twice on our holiday it was that good.
Firehouse Bar and Grill – St IvesThe food was excellent at The Captain's Table. The herb crusted Hake was devine and I hear the steak was great too. No veggie option but the chef was more that happy to create a tangine to make any veggie happy!. Portions sizes are very generous with a host of complimentary sides to accompany. Still found space though to squeeze in a pudding! Service excellent. Would definitely revisit when in St Ives again.
Sloop Inn – St IvesThe halloumi, mushroom and spinach burger really was to die for. I want to recreate it at home but I know it wont be the same. Worth a trip to St Ives for!
Blas Burgerworks – St Ives4 of us tried the Captains Table restaurant , upstairs at the Sloop. We were impressed by the food and the portion sizes. The wine list was also refreshingly good.
Sloop Inn – St IvesWe went to Austells for the first time to celebrate our wedding anniversary recently; I have never left a review before but I feel compelled to support a fabulous local Cornish restaurant. Seated at the bar for a pre-dinner drink the friendly staff picked up we were celebrating a special occasion. The two glasses of bubbly were then made "on the house" and when we were shown to our table it had been discretely decorated! A really nice touch! The food itself was fabulous with the rissoto and confit of pork particularly good. Although we ate from the al a carte they are currently providing a "Pot Luck" menu which offers a cut down version of the main menu with a 3 course meal cost for £20. Given the quality of the food that is great value and is obviously popular given how busy the place was for a Thursday evening. The staff were great and with an open kitchen you can watch the Chef prepare your food. We went to Fifteen about 6 weeks ago for my wife's birthday and I can safely say Austells is twice as good and half the price!!
Austells – St AustellPerfect Wedding Buffet. After much researching on the Internet for caterers for our winter wedding in Cornwall we stumbled across this small business and after speaking with them about the menu they would be able to create for our wedding we were delighted at the quality of the menu that they could offer for our relatively humble budget. The owners Neil and Leonie were incredibly nice on the phone and when we later met them at the quaint little restaurant in St Keverne we knew we had made the right choice, they were genuinely excited for us and hugely passionate about their quality of food as well as excited at the service they were to provide us with. On the wedding day we and the guests were overwhelmed by the amazing food, a huge spread of delicious cold buffet food, with extravagance as well as just great wholesome Cornish produce. Neil and Leonie made sure that the buffet looked beautiful through out the dinner and left a real nice impression on the guests. There was actually too much food, so my wife and I had a freezer full of delicious food to eat after our honeymoon!! I can not recommend ‘The Greenhouse Organic Restaurant’ enough as we were absolutely delighted with every element of the service which we received, and on top of that, what a nice pair of people to have helping out on your wedding day.
Greenhouse Organic Restaurant – The Lizardnot a vegi myself but the food here is just amazin'..send the chocolate brownie to my daughter away at uni, reminds her of home...yummy
Pea Souk Vegetarian Cafe – FalmouthWe stayed and ate at the Fowey Hotel last week and feel compelled to mention that we had a wonderful night away. The food was truly memorable, the staff were attentive with just the right amount of attention and so friendly/welcoming. We took advantage of the nightly offer including Dinner, Bed and Breakfast and consider this to be exceptional value for money, we recommend spending a little more and upgrading to a sea facing Select or Premier room as the views are truly breath taking. Parking is a little tight so do book a parking space on making your reservation, it's worth it. We will definitely be returning as there is so much we would like to see and do, a Cornish gem that we will recommend to all our friends, thank you. S and J
Fowey Hotel – FoweyReally enjoyed a meal here last week! I had been meaning to eat here for a while but it is a road trip for us.... Worth it though! The atmosphere was lovely, helped by the lighting. The waiter was charming and professional and bucked the norm in these parts by being engaged and happy in his work. The food was refreshingly different using flavour combinations that you don't expect or see very often and above all keeping things simple. Starters of scallops with blood orange salad and Moroccan Chemoula dressing and a twice baked cheese souffle with pecan, fig and chicory impressed us both. Mains of duck with a root veg rosti, perfectly judged greens and a quince and sherry jus and mushroom and blue cheese fettuccine with shallot, rocket and truffle oil was cooked beautifully and had bold, clean and deep flavour. Dessert of rice pudding with rhubarb and a wine with each course, would have cost well over £100 elsewhere but only £80 here. Excellent!
