The only down side was not discovering Trevaskis until the end of pour holiday. The portions are enormous and the food quality wonderful. The deserts are dangerously tasty. Service/staff professional and friendly. The prices very reasonable. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Just wish we had found it sooner as we didn't have time to look round the farm.

Please forward this to the Del Mar Restaurant: I visited Perranporth with my boyfriend last week and on our last night there went to the Del Mar restaurant. I can honestly say, I have never experienced such poor customer service in my life! When we arrived at the restaurant the staff were literally running around all over the place (having worked in a restaurant myself I know that successful service comes from having staff dedicated to particular areas) and rather than sit us somewhere the waiter just continually pointed at various tables and then walked off. We were then asked for drinks by another waiter and barely given the time to look at the menu before he quite abruptly asked for our order. When the starters arrived I was disappointed to find on the plate with my calamari a small dish of tartare sauce (an unusual accompaniment to calamari) which had a thick skinned-over layer on the top of it, and to make things worse this was the only thing on the plate with any taste. My boyfriends 'special' starter of sliced beef with ricotta and basil was just as tasteless. When the starter plates were taken away we had both finished our drinks, but were not asked if we would like another drink and were not asked if we enjoyed the food. For my main meal I had ordered seafood risotto and when the waiter brought me mushroom risotto I had to explain 4 times that it was not what I had ordered (and would not have done since I do not like mushrooms and therefore wasnt willing to eat it). The plates were snatched away from the table, there was no apology and we were not told when we would receive our main meals. The waiter who had taken our order stormed over to the table with a piece of paper in his hand and in an aggressive manner asked what I had ordered and when I stated that I had ordered seafood risotto he huffed and walked away. We had still not been asked if we would like another drink, received an apology for the mistake or been told when our food would arrive! When the food did arrive the waiter was about to walk away when I asked if we could order more drinks, which then sat on the bar opposite our table for over 10 minutes, with at least 4 different waiting staff walking past them, before we had to ask somebody for them. The main meals were no better than the starters, the seafood in the risotto was completely overcooked and bland. During the time we were there a lady at a nearby table explained to the waiter who had been extremely abrupt with us that her meat was cold, to which he repeatedly protested that the plate was hot! After making the waiter touch the meat to show it was cold he finally took it away, again with no apology. There was a table behind us who had received no further drinks or attention since they came in and having sat there for around 20 minutes with credit card in hand, I pointed the waitress over to their table when we asked for the bill as soon as the plates were taken. 10 minutes later the table behind us were still waiting for their bill at which point they made their way over to the bar themselves. When we received the bill I was appalled to see a 'cover charge' of £1.50. Surely it is within a restaurants remit to 'cover' their tables without the customer having to pay! I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone and will certainly never return myself, and it seems that as they thrive on tourist customers they think it is perfectly acceptable to serve bland food with dreadful service as they know they will have a constant stream of newcomers, and this is shameful. Having read other reviews on the internet it seems I am not the only person to have had such an awful experience.

Paul Ainsworth and his team have created a wonderful restaurant. Both the food and the service were absolutely fantastic. The little touches were genius like the cheese board with accompanying guide notes and the amazing taste of No.6 dessert selection We have eaten at some of the best places in the country and No.6 rivals any of them. Our two boys (7&8) said it was the best restaurant he had ever been too and could we go there every time. Hats off to No.6, you had achieved something very rare..

I only go to mannings when i visit my friend in Cornwall which is four times a year we always go shopping with her mum and sisters and have lunch at mannings its very special and we would not go anywhere else

Great value and delicious fish and chips. Best value kids meals in St Ives - their kids pizza are only £3.25 - homemade and very tasty.

The menu is brilliant and it was really difficult to make a decision. In the end I decided to go for my lucky number 23. It was delicious! You also want to try something with their home made sweet chilli sauce. We ate there three times in four days and didn't get bored. It's official, Chantek is my favourite restaurant. Not only is the food delicious, the interior is very well thought out and service was very good. I'll be back!

Don't usually get involved with reviews but I felt the need go on record. The food in this restaurant is expensive and not very good. We will not be calling again. I am not a tourist.

Please, whatever you do, avoid this place. Everything about the restaurant was terrible. From the mediocre service to the food. I visited this restaurant on the evening of Friday 16 July 2010 with a friend; we were not residents of the hotel. I’d made a reservation the day before and was unable to get the time that I wanted (I have no idea why, because when I arrived, there was only one other table occupied, with two people on it). On entering the restaurant I gave the lady my name and reservation time (she didn’t even bother checking anything; clearly because it was so quiet anyway). The first young waitress was casually dressed (hoodie and slacks). There was no enthusiasm or much friendliness from her. Without even having had a chance to sit down and see the menu, she asked us what we wanted to drink; understandably, I asked for a few moment to chose. Later, she came, took our orders and all seemed fine. I ordered the Moules Mariniere for starters and the rib eye steak, with chips for mains. My friend ordered the warm duck salad and the lamb shank. Whilst we waited, another couple came into the restaurant. The waitress took their order and promptly brought them some bread and olives. About 5 minutes later, the waitress returned and gave me and my friend the same (even though we’d been in there for some time first!). The bread was fine, the olives looked like they were from a tin (small and halved). The starters came and looked average (although the warm duck salad looked the best). I had my mussels (again, average in taste); the mussel meat was very small and nearly a third of the shells were empty. No bowl or plate was given to me, in which I could discard the mussel shells, nor any wet cloth to clean my hands with. I have to say though, that my friend enjoyed the duck salad. About half way through eating the starter, the same waitress walked up to the table that had come in after ours and informed them that they had run out of chips for the steak and whether they wanted to have something else on the menu. I immediately sensed I would be told the same; and right I was. I was asked whether I wanted roast potatoes or mash instead with the steak; I declined both, stating that I would rather prefer the chips and could not understand why it would be so hard to have fresh chips made. The waitress stated that they only had new potatoes left (something, which later turned out not to be the truth). I asked for a few moments whilst I made up my mind about what alternative I wanted. Moments later, another waitress approached the table and asked whether I’d decided on an alternative. I stated that I had not and would require more time; again I asked why the kitchen was unable to make chips. The waitress agreed that it did seem ridiculous and gave me more time to decide on a different option. I have to add that this second waitress was a lot friendlier than the first. When the (2nd) waitress came back, she expressed that she had had some ‘words’ with the chef and was told that as the chips had to be double fried, the chef did not have the time to do this and it could take up to half an hour for this (just ridiculous). I did not understand therefore, whether there were no potatoes to make the chips or the lazy chef could not be bothered (the restaurant, had only 3 tables occupied, totaling 6 people!!!!). Anyway, I ordered the same as my friend and had the lamb shank. When the main eventually arrived, it looked average; a mound of sweet potato mash, with a lamb shank on top, surrounded by gravy and some chopped carrots and one piece of cauliflower on the side (hardly inspirational). My friend asked for freshly ground pepper (as non was on the table) and when the waitress (the original one) brought the big peppermill out, she just plonked it onto the table. Both my friend and I looked at each other with surprise, the fact the waitress didn’t even bother grinding some for us (as you would usually expect). At this point I was so annoyed with this waitress. If the owners of this restaurant are reading this; please either replace this waitress or give her some proper training for Gods sake; and ask her to wear something other than a hoodie top (seriously, it does not create a good impression!). The main was overly salty; the sweet potato mash did not do the lamb any favours and the veg was just ridiculous. The lamb itself was fine (no complaints there). Needless to say, we did not have any desserts or coffee, opting to leave this dire restaurant as soon as possible. I asked for the bill and when it came, the waitress had taken off 10% as a goodwill gesture for not having had the chips for the steak. I think they sensed that I was annoyed. For 2 glasses of wine, a sparkling water, 2 starters and 2 mains, the bill came to just over £40, which was really reasonable (the was with 10% off (£3.50). Sadly, the food and part of the service was not good enough to make for a nice evening and I will not be recommending this place to anyone that I know. I would not usually make any fuss, but in this case, I thought I should share my experience. There are lots of lovely restaurants in Carbis Bay/St. Ives and this is definitely not one of them. The only saving grace, was the second friendly waitress. Maybe it was an off night; maybe the one apathetic waitress had been called into work on her day off; maybe the usual chef had called in sick; or maybe, the management need to pay more attention to the restaurant facilities if they want the public to really live the experience they claim on their website, ‘modern and friendly restaurant offering great food’.

Excellent food,wine and service. An oasis in the in a very bleak culinary dessert of Marazion and district.

I took the recommendation off this website and treated my family to a birthday bash. It was excellent and the eat as much as you like on Wednesday was some thing else. You don,t just get a choice of dishes on a buffet. You get the whole menu to choose from and you just keep choosing until you can't eat any more. The food was great

Went there on 7th July 2010. Fantastic food, fantastic service. An absolute pleasure eating at No.6. will definitely go back for more. Well done to the chef and staff!!

Wow! There aren't enough words to express our experience at Paul Ainsworth's No. 6 on 3rd July 2010 - OUR WEDDING DAY! Paul and his staff far exceeded our expectations with the quality of service, food (of course), help and friendliness from beginning to end. It wasn't our first meal there and it certainly won't be our last!

visited ASK this week. Service was generally good. Need to be more observant with drinks etc... and waitress dress code (or lack of!) needs seriously reviewing!!! Starter was fantastic (mixed mezze platter)... Pasta was okay... didn't have time for pudding unfortunately. A good stop for a quick pasta with friends.

shocked to be the first reviewing this pub. I first visited on a cold winter lunch time and was thrilled to walk into a huge open log fire. We had PROPER sausage and mash and it was fantastic. We have visited various times since and always had fantastic food. prices are fair given the quality and even better if you find one of the vouchers they regularly print in the local papers!!! well worth a visit. sat right on the lake , beautiful views. Lovely for a walk after your meal.
