Firehouse Bar and Grill – St Ivesgreat food and service with a smile, will go there again when I'm next in Porthcurno....
Cable Station Inn – Penzancei've just enjoyed a fantastic lunch at the courtyard deli. Fresh, interesting well dressed salad leaf mix with toasted seeds for added crunch accompanied a lovely potato, cheese and garlic quiche (that i can't remember the local name for). Along with this came spoonfuls of smashing cold salad bar goodies - i can thoroughly recommend the lentil, cinnamon and mango salad (i know it doesn't sound good but it was subtle and superb) along side the fresh local toms, cuc, and cous cous mix. Excellent quality produce and friendly service.
The Courtyard Deli – FalmouthWe were staying in Plymouth for two nights, 18/08/09 - 20/08/09 but ended up traveling to the mawgan porth area. The beach was absolutely amazing lots of features and very high currents, really good fun if you can swim. both lunch time and dinner time on both days we ate at the Fire Restaurant, what an amazing place, the menu was outstanding, the decor was really nice to have around and the waitress, well she was truly awesome, really friendly, good service and was completely flexible on ordering, she brought out small tasters, combined drinks and even sat down with us for a chat. The girl that served us was telling us that she was visiting mawgan porth and found the restaurant and went in asked for a job and started the next day if anyone needs a job, great place. Even for me a 17 year old it was still an awesome place how ever old you are there is something for everyone. There is one downside working at Fire, the waitress hadn't been home for 9 months, so that can be an issue. After my family had eaten at Fire she and I went off for a walk down the beach just a few meters away from the restaurant that was really nice, and got to know her very well. I would defiantly Travel from the midlands back to mawgan porth, an amazing place to visit and I highly recommend it to everyone. We are going back in October again for a week this time and staying in Mawgan Porth and I can't wait to eat there again. Ed
Fire Bar Bistro and Grill – NewquayWe have had a wonderful holiday in Cornwall supported by our two visits to this lovely restaurant. The food is local, delicious and exciting and the welcome was warm. If you want a restaurant that makes everything from scratch including the bread and that accommodates children with smaller portions of any of the adult meals but still retains a sophisticated, friendly atmosphere I recommend this wholeheartedly... oh and probably book because it would be such a shame not to experience it for yourself.
Greenhouse Organic Restaurant – The Lizardwaited 20 mins for drink and popodoms, ordered starters and main, waited 45 mins, main arrived,no starters before.sent mains back, waited another 15 mins for drinks, starters arrived.ok.main arrived very ordinary, not a good balance of flavours,in fact everything tasted the same like a cheap Chinese. i really wouldn't bother, manager acts like a cockney wide boy should be selling cars not serving food!!!! an altogether terrible experience,go to a supermarket buy a curry its cheaper and tastes better.
Jaipur Indian Cuisine – PerranporthWe dined at the Greenhouse twice during our week long holiday in St Keverne last week - the food, wine and service is excellent and the cosy atmosphere delightful. We enjoyed a selection of fresh homemade bread, sardines, red mullet, venison curry, pork belly and an amazing peanut butter & chilli ice cream - what a treat!! What’s particularly good is that children are welcome in the restaurant - my 10 year old son loved the fish & chips and homemade ice cream. Having dined in some top restaurants in London it’s great to find a gem of a restaurant like the Greenhouse where the food is equally as good if not better - top marks to Neil and Leonie. We plan on coming back to this area of Cornwall again and will certainly make sure we are booked into the Greenhouse for dinner…and most likely more than once!!
Greenhouse Organic Restaurant – The LizardFantastic food in wadebridge. The lady who served us really knew her stuff and also all about the area and was so sweet and helpful even though obviously rushed off her feet. They have an "all you can eat" on Wednesday evenings..this is such a bargain! One wouldn't expect such a deal when it's normally a little on the expensive side. No wonder they were so busy. Would advise booking for this and ask for lady with long gingery hair to tell you where to visit if (like us) you don't know the area!
Dancing Taipan Restaurant – WadebridgeI'm not one for entering comments, but had the carvery today (Sunday lunchtime). Have to say this was as good a carvery as I have ever had (and I'm no spring chicken - 50). Staff polite, food wonderful - vegetables al dente, batters just right and a very generous helping of meat, perfectly cooked. Well worth a visit, but need to book unless you're happy to chance the outside tables (which I did).
Maltsters Arms – WadebridgeThe food was fine, but the service was amazingly awful. The waiting staff seemed to be having a great time among themselves, but treated the customers with near-contempt.
Chantek Thai and South East Asian Restaurant – TruroEvery time we vist my Mum in nearby Cadgwith, we arrange to have a meal out here, and have never been disappointed. I've told my brothers about The Greenhouse, and they also now take Mum tere each time they visit. I can't really add much to the previous recommendations, but would strongly recommend reserving a table in high season - several people were turned away on the Saturday (8th August). The food is excellent (I had the pork belly), portions decent, prices fair, service efficient & friendly, atmosphere cosy - I wish we had something like it up here in Reading where we live.
Greenhouse Organic Restaurant – The Lizardwe went for a meal for our 1st wedding anniversary and what a experience, the food was out of this world. If i was rick stien i would be worried. pound for pound it was by far the best food in padstow. paul was a complete and utter gentleman, who is quite happy to come to front of house to chat with his customers, this in its self was an experience, to be able to chat to the main man of padstow. well done to paul and all his staff... and paul your taste of no.6 is wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Paul Ainsworth at No 6 – PadstowI went to the Watermargin in June this year with my boyfriend. Have to say, it was a lovely meal, everything was fresh and tasty and the service was excellent. Definitely impressed!
Watermargin Restaurant – St Austellover priced and menu was minimal in choice in my opinion ( eg some steaks are £20 and veg and chips etc are extra on top of that) ...a real shame as has always been a favourite of mine in the past! Not anymore!
Bakehouse Restaurant – PenzanceFriendly Italian restaurant in the heart of Padstow. We are a complicated bunch of 8 plus dog and including a vegan and 3 vegetarians. Sitting outside after cycling the camel-trail (so we were a bit mud splattered!) was no problem at all - we did pre-book because it can get quite busy. Plenty of choice and very popular with our kids was a decent Margherita Pizza and the vegan was very happy with spaghetti arrabiatta. One of our party loved his seafood pasta and I had a lovely, uncomplicated greek salad with a deliciously fresh feta cheese - I also treated myself to a bowl of fries which were skinny, crispy and gorgeous - needless to say I had to share them with other keen family members who didn't order any for themselves. This is one of our regular holiday activities and we have no reason to change the habit of the last 10 years - highly recommended.
Rojano’s in the Square – PadstowMy wife and I went to Papa Nino with high expectations. What a disaster! My wife ordered a retro avacado and "fresh" prawn. When it eventually arrived my wife and I tasted it and the prawn was frozen. She also found the avacado was rotten! yes rotten, not overripe but unmistakably rotten. She was upset that they would mistake this for good avacado and would serve this to anyone. I complained and was told that there wouldn't be a charge for the avacado. My wife then had "fresh" squid which was definitely frozen. I had spaghetti Carbonara which tasted greasy and vile, worse than what you would get from the frozen food counter at you local low cost supermarket. We ate almost nothing of the dinner and yet they didn't make an attempt to ask us why the food was uneaten and proceeded to charge us for it even though we we leaving without really touching it. My wife was ill and I felt quite queasy afterwards. In short don't go to this restaurant there are several much better ones just down the road
Papa Nino – LooeI have eaten in alot of places but this place is among the best. The greeting was second to none in the bar i had one of the best mojitos even better than abroad. The food was first class the service brilliant. I cant wait to return in September.
Firehouse Bar and Grill – St IvesWe enjoyed a good value Sunday lunch and so booked a table for Wednesday at 7:30 as it was"seafood and fish night". The restaurant was heaving, all tables taken and there was a queue for the take-away. Good choice of menu for both visits and, for a small restaurant, a lengthy wine list. Madam enjoyed her half lobster so much that she asked if she could have another to take away for the next day! In all excellent food, excellent service from the two person team and excellent ambiance. If this is an example of an organic restaurant let's have more of them.
