Cornish Arms – BodminExtremely disappointed with the food, 3 out of the table of 6 had to send the food back. The steaks were under cooked, my lamb was grey where it was overcooked. The restaurant was 1/4 full, so there is no excuse. For the cost and quality of service I would struggle to give more than 2 out 5. Silks tries to be something its not. You would get better food from a Toby inn.
Silks Bistro and Champagne Bar – NewquayLove this restaurant, had a table outside, actually on the beach, very romantic. Food to die for, will be returning soon!!!
Porthminster Beach Cafe – St IvesDO NOT GO - over priced and lousy! Not child friendly either - staff have an attitude problem!
Bowgie Inn – NewquayExcellent food, but decor not so good. Staff friendly. Eaten there many times. Good value. Go for it. Rick G
Dynasty Chinese Restaurant – PenzanceI have just spent 3 wonderful nights at Hotel Penzance in Penzance. Couldn't fault it. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the food in The Bay was out of this world, breakfasts to set you up for the day - all in all a very relaxing visit in lovely surroundings both in and out of the hotel. (oh and they have some great handmade cards in reception for all occasions and some lovely art hanging which is also forsale). Would definitely recommend for yourselves, your family, your friend or clients who may be down on business. Didn't want to leave and can't wait to return. Always good to pass on good recommendations. 21st February 2008
The Garden Bar and Restaurant – PenzanceLast weekend my girlfriend and I stayed for 2 nights, we had a most amazing time from the time we walked through the door till leaving. All staff were attentive and professional, the Restaurant team again were at the top of there game, fitting us in when obviously busy but still giving us great service. The food which as a chef is top of my priorities, was extremely well cooked and presented, the local produce list at the start is inspired and showed just how much emphasise is put on the producers. Something I also am very interested in. Easter 2008 Mitch & Paraskevi
The Garden Bar and Restaurant – PenzanceGreat decor and very pleasant food. However, the service is AWFUL. You have to order at the bar as the 'waiters' don't actually take your order. On our visit our starters and main arrived together (!). On turning the mains away until we had finished our starters, the 'server' was extremely rude. When the manager came over, he was even ruder and accused us of having actually asked for the two courses together! We very nearly left after starters but were so hungry! Fellow diners also had problems. One lady sent her food away twice and never received a replacement. The staff are incompetent. Avoid this place like the plague, to avoid spoiling your evening.
Castaways Wine and Tapas Bar – FalmouthFantastic place to eat !!! always helpful and very accommodating along with really good food you cant go wrong !advisable to book !
The Tree Inn – BudeThe food at Annapurna is excellent with lovely unusual dishes mixed in with usual recipes. Vegetarians and fish lovers also benefit here. The food is flavoursome and the portions are just right. The decor is modern and well maintained. The service is friendly and efficient though the wine was not served into glasses - this seems to be a recent trend in several recently visited restaurants
Annapurna – LiskeardDreadful. Went to see the Obby Oss on May day. Great fun. However, don't bother with this fish and chipper. Flaky fish and stodgy, tasteless chips. £15.50 for C&C twice and 2 teas. Dreadful food and just about the worst value I've experienced. Buy a couple of local pasties instead. Better food and not at rip-off prices.
Walkers – PadstowAlthough the food at the smugglers is ok, it is not acceptable for a place not to receive criticism. We dined here on Monday evening and ordered 2 portions of sardines on one plate as a starter to share between 3 of us. The specials board read 'butterflied sardines', so we were surprised when our starter arrived to only fined 2 sardines on the plate. We check with the waitress, she told us it was 2 portions, so we complained to the manageress. she told us to our surprise that the chef had though the sardines so big that he was only giving one per portion!? In my book it would have to be one huge sardine to justify £5.50!! I was sharply told not to raise my voice by the manageress who didn't seem to think there a problem with this. Two minutes later she unashamedly wiped of the 's' from the end of sardines on the specials board. On paying our bill I was only charged for 1 portion of sardines but this was only because of a matter of grammer, not because they felt guilty of ripping you off. It was explained to me by the manageress that soup was £5.00 and that didn't cost much to make so it was ok to charge £5.50 for one sardine. I was treated with scorn for my complaint and will never eat there again, which is a shame because I quite like the place.
Smugglers Den Inn – NewquayWe had an absolutely perfect evening at Langhams in Nov 07. The care and attention which is lavished on customers in this restaurant is extraordinary - yet it's all done without a hint of pretentiousness or bluster. The food is a triumph - do try the full tasting menu (I think it ran to around 6-7 courses, everything was amazing). With a solid wine list and comfortable lounge for after dinner coffees, this really was perfect.
Langmans Restaurant – Callingtonit's very good, so busy sometimes, but the Chinese feel is good
Tung Sing Cantonese Restaurant – RedruthDelicious bistro style fresh fish and seafood served in this cosy yet chic restaurant in the heart of Port Isaac. Excellent service and a fine wine list. A most enjoyable evening!
The Slipway – Port Isaachad lunch here on sunday, service was ok but the food was dissapointing.the burger was tasty but served in a ciabatta roll which i hate.( ok, personal choice, others may like it, others also like chicken korma pizza, it doesn't make it right...what can i say!!!) nachos equalled overcooked deep fried flour tortilla wedges stuck together with melted cheese(microwaved maybe?)and tasting of degrading cooking oil, with average guac, salsa and sour cream. South Side in town do the best nachos.the battered fish was nice and obviously cooked in a different fryer to the "nachos". the chips were very good. a vegetarian option of peppers and feta was served in an undercooked and thus doughy parcel. the warm hummous lacked any kind of punch and the pita served with it was crusty and chewy in a -left around a warm kitchen as opposed to too long under the grill- kind of way.4 out of 10
Gylly Beach Cafe – FalmouthOne of the most striking things about Xen Noodle Bar is its creative and varied menu: it offers so many different and intriguing options that each visit is a new adventure. Add to this prompt, courteous service and reasonable prices, and you'll be tempted to become a regular here. The interiors of the restaurant are hip and fresh, yet the atmosphere falls far short of "romantic meal out" status because of consistently high noise levels. The dining area is a single rectangular room with little to cushion the sound of the diners continually filling it. Booths offer only some privacy. If you are in the mood for a quick meal in a lively atmosphere, don't let the noise keep you away. But for a quiet meal in an atmosphere that makes you want to linger, for romance, or for more than casual conversations, head elsewhere.
Xen Noodle Bar – TruroI've been to Fodders for lunch.Really good quality food lots of veggie options although sometimes prices seem a little higher than other venues.Warm and Cozy on a blustery day! It's not the easiest to find if you don't know Truro. It's down the alleyway behind the lemon quay pannier market and up the wooden stairs Doesn't open in the evenings
