Alfresco – St IvesI can recommend this inn whole heartedly. The food was scrummy and extremely fresh and mine host a delight (very funny)
Royal Oak – LostwithielWe had booked a weekend at Boscundle Manor last December, a nice break for us both especially as I was 8 months pregnant. Mother nature being against us decided to have major snow storms that day and in a traumatic journey that lasted 9 hours (instead of 1.5) we eventually arrived at the manor at 11.30 pm! What greeted us was surly the most wonderful site ever. Boscundle is beautiful and on a cold snowy night look so warm and inviting. Although the hour was extremely late, we were greeted warmly, given a glass of champagne and nibbles allowed to freshen up and then shown to the dining room where the chef had stayed on and then cooked us the most fantastic 3 course meal. Our whole weekend was so fantastic, we were so pampered with gorgeous food, hot chocolate in the afternoons, delicious breakfasts and the suite (room 3) we were in was so luxurious and extravagant it was the most fabulous weekend. I hope we can return with our new addition in the near future
Boscundle Manor Hotel and Restaurant – St AustellBlas is just what St Ives needed, I've eaten there 4 times and to coin a phrase from the Golden Arches co. "I'm lovin it!" Their approach to good food is refreshing and they have great burger combo's. Can't recommend them enough.
Blas Burgerworks – St IvesChantek in Truro was recommended to us by a fellow holiday maker, and we will be ever thankful to that couple. Holidaying in nearby Hayle with our 5 month year old baby, our top priority was to eat out as much as possible and as well as we could afford. We have not had such an authentic and tasty Thai meal in the UK. My partner and I are both Thai food lovers and holidaying one year in Thailand we discovered green papaya salad which became a daily staple. We were delighted to find this on the Chantek menu, and it was the best we have had in this country - a refreshing mix of green papaya, dried shrimps and peanuts, in a lime dressing. We sat outside in a courtyard, pleasantly decorated with exotic plants. We shared a plate of fresh grilled seafood from the daily specials menu with a dip that was hot and sour but not too sweet. A Malay yellow curry seafood dish was made less hot for a breast feeding Mum; it included more than we expected, with crab claws and tasty prawns. My partner found a King prawn green curry evidently very moreish as he ordered extra rice with which he could soak up anything remaining. Lunch was made complete by a lovely desert of yellow bean Kanang moreng and pineapple fritters with local organic ice cream. I was particularly pleased, as the restaurant offered brown rice, rice noodles offered as an alternative to egg noodles and herbal tea catering to my highly selective palate The restaurant was atmospheric but relaxed with coral lights that I would have liked for my own home and some revealing photographs of Thailand. The food was good value and reasonably priced. By chance we got chatting to a couple of the staff who were very friendly and particularly admiring of our baby which wins points with us. To any Asian food lovers who find themselves in Truro I would suggest checking out Chantek.
Chantek Thai and South East Asian Restaurant – TruroCool as you can get. Great service from some lovely looking girls, had one of the best pizza's I've ever had and my girlfriend had Tandoori monkfish! Brilliant, and love the interior design, toilets are a nice finishing touch too.
One Eyed Cat Bar and Restaurant – TruroWhen you turn up at this restaurant, you think that this cannot be the place that you have heard is well worth a visit. In fact you even start thinking of excuses of why you must leave! But ... when the food starts coming out, you are thankful that you stayed. We thoroughly enjoyed our food and it is amongst the best that we have ever had. Every dish was a delight and we kept laughing at all the noises of enjoyment coming from fellow diners on the next table. We will make the Journeyman a regular visit to try all the dishes.
Journeyman Restaurant – WadebridgeRecommendations: The restaurant says that it sources its food locally and the freshness shines through. This is simple cooking superbly done, with sympathy for the ingredients as evidenced by the daily changing menu. The service was unobtrusive but attentive. A jug of water was offered which was a welcome change from most competitors. The restaurant is simply and tastefully decorated; although crowded it was not overly noisy. The food was not cheap but represents excellent value. Booking is essential to avoid disappointment as there are (from memory) only about thirty covers and it is deservedly very very popular.
Greenhouse Organic Restaurant – The LizardThe Alverne represents a very good dining experience. The food might be characterised as modern British with European influences. It was well presented in proper proportion. While not cheap, the food represented excellent value. The ambience was very pleasant; tables sufficiently far apart to allow privacy but not suggesting a hushed atmosphere. The decor and wall hangings were fresh, modern, eye-catching and pleasing. My only quibble was that the wine was opened away from the table. But the waitresses were so personable and unobtrusively keen that I did not complain, particularly as the wine was as it claimed on the bottle.
Alverne Restaurant and Lounge – Penzancerecently had lunch and then came back for evening meal, it was fabulous, they have a lovely garden at the rear. the pub itself has so much real history. the food was great, so much choice, lovely staff (very friendly)and for such a small pub the selection of real ales were great to see. I would highly recommend this lovely pub.
Turks Head Inn, The – PenzanceWent last night, Friday and the place was jumping. Great atmosphere and cracking cocktails. We didn't have any food but we will in the next few days or so. I love this palce and what it now brings to Truro.
One Eyed Cat Bar and Restaurant – TruroHad an amazing meal at Chantek the other night .. have lived in Malaysia for many years so know what good Asian food is, and this was totally authentic. Ate far too much and the sticky rice was out of this world. Very attractive modern decor which is a change from the oldeworldy look so often found in the west country. Kids menu was a hit also with my two and healthy! They even tried and liked the pan seared tuna starter i had!!! Will be returning often ... oh yes and lovely staff too :)
Chantek Thai and South East Asian Restaurant – TruroI love the fact that you can watch the pizza chef making your pizza, always made to feel welcome, love the traditional style of inside the food is fantastic, just discovered they do take-away, even with pasta too
Piero’s Ristorante and Pizzeria – TruroI love this place. Just a bit of background information to anyone who doesn't know - this place is a joint venture between The Hub and Onshore, both of St Ives. The pizzas at lunchtime are wonderful. You can't beat a wood burning oven for flavour. The pastas and fish dishes are also yummy. I haven't eaten here in the evening yet but it's on my list of things to do. As most other folk are saying, this place is a great addition to Truro.
One Eyed Cat Bar and Restaurant – TruroA Great Find. Freshest food ive had served on a plate in Cornwall anywhere. We stayed the night, the quality of the guest rooms is akin to a swish London Hotel. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Royal Oak – Lostwithielit can't really get much better than this place. best view in st ives over the harbour, unbelievable food and good range of wines at sensible prices. this place deserves to be in more eat out guides, possibly the best food we've had whilst in sunny Cornwall
Onshore Restaurant – St IvesAt last big city life has come to Cornwall with this great new addition to days and nights out in Truro. Goodbye Meadery and hello sexy One Eyed Cat. We ate and drank here last night, the menus are amazing as is the attention to detail. Best atmosphere in a grand old church too. 1st class, open up more please
One Eyed Cat Bar and Restaurant – TruroI went to Fifteen for dinner with a group of female friends and had a thoroughly wonderful evening. We were seated in a semi-private room at a lovely oval table overlooking the magnificent Watergate Bay - wow what better view to compliment this very stylish restaurant. We chose to go with the £90 wine tasting package, which to be honest I thought was extremely expensive, but after sampling all the different wines to compliment each course, I realised this was the best option. Each dish we had was superb, presented with style and sophistication. The restaurant was totally full, and the atmosphere was brilliant. I would definitely like to return to Fifteen, but obviously because of the price it will have to be a special occasion place for me.
