Waterloo Restaurant – BoscastleGreat food and a fabulous view of the harbour. Service OK but not quite so good as the cooking.
Alba – St IvesNice location and food reasonable, thought the wine was somewhat overpriced
Pucellis – PadstowExcellent meal in lovely surroundings. Well worth getting away from the hustle and bustle of the quayside. Very informative and good selection. Can't comment on the desserts but v. impressed all round
Garrack Restaurant – St Iveson recommendations we dined here last week and it was first class, especially a big thank you to the chef Jammie for such outstanding dishes which we had the opportunity to sample. Cant state more than this, first class you must go there!
Alfresco – St IvesExcellent family orientated menu selection including daily specials, outstanding food quality in a peaceful marina setting. Great for a relaxing drink too.
Castaways Wine and Tapas Bar – FalmouthWe were very impressed by a recent visit here, cool bar downstairs with a great range of drinks. The upstairs restaurant has a great feel to it with plenty of space, stylish decor that features original large tourism posters from the 40s and 50s and a buzzy atmosphere. The service was excellent; there is a Lobster tank, which proves that they sell a lot of them and a good varied menu with plenty of fish. We had grilled squid and chorizo salad and a lovely butternut squash and red pepper soup to start followed by sea bass fillets on crushed potatoes and a rather large T-bone steak with frits perfect. The wine list was comprehensive and offered good value, the view excellent. We walked away feeling that our expectations were well and truly exceeded and we definitely return and tell our friends. Spot on!
Mariners Restaurant – WadebridgeWent to this locally known takeaway in Holm bush St Austell and was really nice food, they have a very wide menu and a good vegetarian menu aswell. Staff were friendly. never tasted fish and chips like this before 10 out of 10 to the young lad cooking at Holm bush fish bar
Holmbush Fish Bar – St AustellThis is the best food I've had in Cornwall and can compete with any of London's top restaurants. Also one of the best views in Cornwall. The menu is creative, with impeccable quality and attention to detail. Staff are polished and attentive. Although quite pricey, its still represents good value relative to the standard of cuisine. This is the real deal.
Driftwood Hotel – TruroGreat location with sea views. Food was good quality. The staff need to be improved. Not very attentive at times and a bit robotic. Price is not cheap, but nor should it be. Its well worth a visit.
Quarterdeck Restaurant @ The Nare Hotel – TruroThis was the best meal we had in Cornwall. Mussels to start, monkfish with crab cake to die for. Staff very friendly and would highly recommend you try this restaurant.
Wreckers – St AustellHad a great lunch out on the terrace and went back a few days later for dinner in the restaurant in the evening. Nice menu and good choice of food - great views. Staff young and friendly. Good place to relax and enjoy beer and food!
Mariners Restaurant – WadebridgeI have eaten at the Manor house 4 times while on holiday and each time i have enjoyed the meal! The steak and ale pie is the best!!!
Old Manor House The – BoscastleRoskilly's Makes the best ice cream around and the food there is great too! i'll have to go there again some time! As it never fails! It's got my vote!
The Croust House at Roskillys Ice Cream – The LizardMost towns have a chef-run AA Rosetted restaurant these days, if your lucky there is a 2 rosette place, typically these restaurants will not have much of an atmosphere and are rarely full, it's a food thing. Alba in St Ives seems to have got something very right; it is the busiest restaurant in the town, my thoughts on this are that this AA seafood restaurant of the year has not lost sight of its roots, its not chasing rainbows and still looks after its locals. So if you are looking to spend top dollar and have a blow out in the right sort of relaxed yet elegant atmosphere you can, just book a mid week table at the height of service upstairs. If you're on a budget and want the quality, you can eat here early doors more cheaply than you can cook at home. In short Alba has achieved this success by cleverly playing to a broader market, an not alienating its core of locals. Thank you Grant and Julia.
Alba – St IvesWith new owners and now a new chef ex The Blue Fish, this place gets better and better, we also hear that they are going to offer their delicious wood roasted pizzas for delivery, a first in St Ives, fab. We ate beautifully cooked Mackerel fillet salad and lovely pizza plus a lemon and tarragon chicken dish. Excellent all round, a bottle of rose and a stunning view, nuff said!
Onshore Restaurant – St IvesI ordered a steak meal which was cooked to perfection. The dessert of a white chocolate fondue with various fruits to dip was quite possibly the best dessert I've ever had in a restaurant and I would go back if only for that.
Warehouse Bistro – FalmouthExcellent and authentic Mexican fodder. Be warned - the portions are huge! One of the nicest Mexican restaurants I've been to. Ay Carumba!
