Blas Burgerworks – St IvesI have visited Giuseppes at Mawnan Smith many times over the last 15 years. The welcome is always very friendly as one would expect from an Iskian Italian with a charming Cornish wife. The food is always very good - fresh local ingredients, good fish and splendid meats cooked quickly to order. Good wines too with a very large choice of Italian wines. Highly recommend a visit. You won't be disappointed. Phil Howarth
Giuseppes – FalmouthWe thought the prices were a little higher than average but when we sampled the food; it was more than excellent, very good value for money. The flavours and spices were first class. It was so wonderfully tasty. It is our first choice for Indian food without a doubt.
The Eastern Eye – The LizardFantastic! I cannot recommend this place enough. The owners are extremely friendly, very accommodating and the food, service and location is excellent.
The Windward – Newquayvery nice restaurant and great food
Castaways Wine and Tapas Bar – FalmouthService was very good, all staff was very friendly, like one big happy family, food was to much to eat but, well worth it, will go again.
Crossbow Restaurant – Tintagelhaving used the vine several times, i really thought someone else might have stumbled upon this gem of a place. had a fab light lunch of scallops with smoked bacon whilst taking in fantastic views of st michaels mount, the beach and the bay. really not the pub it looks like from the road side.
Godolphin Arms – MarazionThis restaurant is small and intimate, the menu is varied and the service is friendly and efficient, the food is excellent, local produce, well cooked and very reasonably priced. I'd rate this as one of the best places to eat in St Ives, better quality and value compared to some of the new, trendier restaurants in the town.
Hobblers – St IvesAbsolutely superb, a must if you visit The Isles of Scilly
Juliets Garden Restaurant – Scilly IslesExcellent food, lovely atmosphere and very jolly staff
Castaways Wine and Tapas Bar – FalmouthGreat Indian restaurant. Probably one of the best in Cornwall. Highly recommended
Balti King – HayleThis was the best place to go and eat whilst we were staying in Newquay. There was a very fit waitress, who all my mates fancied, and this added to the overall beauty of Rossi's.
Rossis – NewquayTHE NEW YARD RESTAURANT TRELOWARREN, THE LIZARD, CORNWALL Greg Laskey, the new Head Chef, has returned to his Cornish roots after working with Kevin Viner at Pennypots when he achieved his Michelin star and having sold his own restaurant in the Home Counties. He has brought lightness and simplicity to the menu. You can choose from a ravioli of Cornish Blue cheese and mushrooms, cream of cauliflower soup with black truffle or, as I did, a salad of local crab and smoked mackerel. It was a small tower of creamy fish, the texture of the two meats beautifully complimenting each other, finished with crème fraiche, a crunch of cucumber and a lime dressing. I ate it very slowly, to savour each spoonful. Main courses offered a supreme of chicken, gently steamed and filled with local scallops, Mr. Retallack? best sirloin steak with roasted rosemary parsnips & carrots, topped with hollandaise sauce, crisp bacon and hazelnuts. I had the Cornish spring lamb with mint beurre blanc on the sweetest, lightest creamed sweet potatoes, with a port and thyme sauce. If you are going to work with the best, local ingredients (Greg sources 90% from within the 10 square miles of the Lizard peninsula), there is no need to do more than cook them perfectly and serve them simply. Small strips of carrot and green beans perfected the picture. I had a bit of everything for pudding; Helford pears poached in Cornish Mead with homemade honey ice cream, Pistachio ice cream with a warm apple & cinnamon Cognac syrup, hot chocolate fondant (with a chocolate and Kahlua sauce and wicked clotted cream) and a rich rhubarb, white chocolate and hazelnut truffle flavoured with Kirsch and lemon. Apart from the fact that the ice cream would eventually melt, I wanted to linger on the colours and layout of the desserts on the plate. I could easily have had a full helping of each - all were brilliant - but on another day. Luckily there are 1000 acres of land at Trelowarren where you can walk off such meals.
New Yard – The LizardWe found this on the night Boscastle was flooded! It was so cosy and was packed that night - we had to wait a bit because we didn? book for a table but it was great. The food was amazing, service good and it is hidden deep in a valley
Smugglers Den Inn – Newquayspent most of the week here, eating and drinking with my wife, from day till night they get it right. can't fault the place . don't miss it.
Hub Bar and Kitchen – St IvesHaving visited Alba on a few occasions, I'm glad that the award of Seafood Restaurant of the year has been awarded. Everything is perfection, from the gift from the kitchen to the petit fours, everything is made on site. You can tell that the best produce is served and you don? mind paying the price. Alba is head and shoulders above the opposition, who are falling behind. Best wishes to Grant and Julia on a job well done.
