Eastern Promise – TruroGreat restaurant! Good food and not too spicy. The waitresses wear beautiful Thai dresses... I will definitely will visit again .
Lotus Thai Restaurant – NewquayNot wholly vegetarian but quite a few choices. Lovely salads but they tend to run out of jacket potatoes fairly often. Totally non-smoking, not open in the evenings unfortunately.
Fodders – TruroFriday night and the place was packed, a good atmosphere and the food was very good, great wine and the desserts were terrific, highly recommended
Alba – St IvesHave now eaten here 3 or 4 times and never been disappointed. In the shadow of Brown Willy, so rightly selling itself as the highest pub in Cornwall, The Old Inn is well worth the journey off the main highways and is always popular with walkers. Serving a good mix of pub grub their chef favours local farms, butchers and cheesemakers so it's hard to go wrong with your menu choice. The Moorland Grill is well worth a try (make sure you're VERY hungry or have someone to help you out) and the sausages & mash with gravy (often a bland affair in lesser hostelries) is a tribute to the 'buy local' philosophy. They also have a proper restaurant but can't imagine it's any better than the main pub.
Old Inn, The – BodminAn excellent new restaurant! The food was delicious and exceptionally good value when compared to 'big city' restaurants of similar quality. (The chocolate dessert was to die for!!) The wine list was extensive with lots of moderately priced options. I also loved the decor and ambience - fresh and roomy, but also quite chilled out. You didn't feel like you were dining on top of everyone else! I can imagine that in summer the outdoor terrace will also be a great place for lunches or an early evening G&T!
Wreckers – St AustellThoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, have, and will continue to recommend to all. Congratulations.
Wreckers – St AustellOrdered the Hub Huge breakfast - it was definitely the best breakfast and best for value for money that I have had in Cornwall sausages were outstanding, as was the bacon, real bread and superb coffee rounded it off.- The views are outstanding from the first floor restaurant. I can inagine it will be difficult to get into during summer.
Hub Bar and Kitchen – St Ivesa nice modern atmosphere, where the staff are friendly and the food is good.
Mariners Restaurant – WadebridgeOur annual visits to Cornwall - usually off-season are not complete without a stay and/or a meal at the Cornish Range. The accommodation is stylish, luxurious, positively oozing good taste and comfort. Dinner is always a treat to be savoured. The service attentive. The quality and freshness of the food continues the standard begun in Richard's time and and the menus are tantalising. I suppose it was inevitable that prices had to go up (dammit!) once the word had got about. Anyway I would still choose the Cornish Range over a 5 star hotel - and thankfully there are none as yet in Mousehole - are they?
Cornish Range – PenzanceWe go here all the time, the pasties are very good, my fave was the Indian Chicken but they have stopped doing that now, the others are still good and my girlfriend is addicted to the Bacon,Leek & Cheese one. I love the coffee here and the Baguettes and croissant are just like in France.
Presto – St IvesWent for lunch, the place was busy but I managed to get a table with a view of the harbour, they have done it up and increased the amount of seating downstairs and carpeted so it gives a warmer feel. I had been reading about Vietnamese cooking recently and was pleased to see that there was a dish on offer so I plumped for that, Vietnamese chicken curry with black rice. It was very good plenty of rough chopped lemongrass, chilli, garlic and coriander, delicious. I treated myself to a grappa pannacotta for dessert and matched it with a Muscat. People watching outside was as compelling as the food. Top Notch!
Alba – St Iveswahho for the sandbar is all i can say!!!
Sandbar – PenzanceAlthough it was a cold wet night outside, we found the CR to be warm and welcoming. The interior decoration is excellent and tables are well-spaced. The fish (surely the main reason for going) is unbelievably good but availability is obviously dictated by the catch (sorry to other patrons; we blitzed the Scallops in Cocconut Chilli sauce). One of us had beef which he said was also very good. Service was relaxed but very professional (efficient, without being obsequious) and matches anything you could hope to find in other top-class restaurants. Although I've rated the cost as 'Pricey', this is by local standards. By London standards, I'd probably say that it was the top end of 'Average'. Luckily, we have family in the area so we have the excuse to return to the CR whenever we're visiting them!
Cornish Range – PenzanceThis has got to be our favorite Chinese restaurant of all time ! We have visited on many occasions and each time the food has been excellent, and cooked to perfection (Try the Mongolian Lamb - its wonderful), excellent service, very reasonable prices. Forget Eastern Promise at Grampound, this place is far better.
Dynasty Chinese Restaurant – Penzancethe best coffe in town great pizza lovely plaice
Bellini’s – Budefood outstanding, service excellent, all round a superb night out.
Balti King – HayleI have been here several times now and can honestly say that I have really enjoyed the excellent food. However the last time I went, despite booking a table well in advance and it being a quiet Tuesday evening, it took an hour to seat us and a further hour to get our main course. We asked several times what was taking so long to get us seated but received no satisfactory answer. It was not full, in fact we could see several available tables and as I said we had booked a table which they acknowledged. Despite this we enjoyed the meal, this is definitely a more upmarket Indian and the restaurant is very clean and modern.
