Horse and Farrier – PenrithExcellent, all round, highly recommend
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleAlways enjoyed flat iron steak here on numerous previous visits. Surprised not to see this on menu last night Opted for the £30 sirloin but too big too boring and the chips mushroom and tomatoes boring Left quite a lot. Please reintroduce flat iron or even bavette steak. Service as always excellent.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithSuperb food & excellent attentive service ! Definitely worth a visit.
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithFirst time visit, amazing food and a brilliantly relaxed atmosphere.
Sage and Vine – CarlisleA cozy, friendly, restaurant with excellent food.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereLove everything about this restaurant, the food, the staff, the management, the atmosphere it is exceptional.
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleStayed two nights and ate both nights and can't fault it the food was delicious we had the fish and chips also the steak pie and the burger everything we had was delicious . The staff were all brilliant couldn't do enough for you, can't fault the place.
Queens Head Inn Tirril – PenrithWe were recommended this pub while we were staying in Keswick, it's a lovely place, plenty of staff on hand. Fantastic Sunday lunch. We should have visited more than once during our stay, will definitely call again next time we are in the area.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickThe Wheatsheaf is a great pub for its old style atmosphere and very decent food. We had the game pie and the cheese and onion pie. Both home made and both excellent. Not so sure about the rest of the plate. Would much have preferred red cabbage to mushy peas (?!) with the game pie. And salad with the cheese and onion pie was also an odd one. Lastly as another reviewer has mentioned the menu choice is quite restricted which limits our enthusiasm for more frequent visits.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeReally enjoyed a lovely meal. Very friendly bar staff and restaurant staff. Food was really hot and nicely presented. Food served quickly and efficiently. Great atmosphere, cosy fire.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickA very pleasant, busy restaurant serving a nice range of choice for food. So good we went back 2 nights in a row & only staying 2 nights in Carlisle!!
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleSo good, we ate there both nights of our 2 night stay in Keswick. Great atmosphere, lovely staff, and a varied menu. A proper pub, warm, friendly, good food.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickWe had Sunday Lunch at The Wheatsheaf and it was excellent. We both had the roast beef and it was served with a delicious selection of vegetables, both roast and mashed potatoes and of course Yorkshire pudding. Gravy was plentiful, as it should be. We shared starter of Morecambe Bay brown shrimps which were served in butter. Perfect. To round off the meal we had an indulgent Creme Brulee. Would highly recommend. Staff were very friendly.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeWe revisited this charming bistro for the second time last Saturday. It was every bit as good as we remembered! The food was absolutely gorgeous and the waiting staff so friendly and informative. My steak was a little overcooked and the portion of peppercorn sauce was tiny, hence the 4/5 food review. However the steak was melt in the mouth and our lovely waitress said I could have had more sauce if I'd asked. Lesson leaned! Would definitely recommend. Will definitely go back.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereGood food and beer in a friendly atmosphere.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickFour of us ate here to celebrate a 60th birthday. We all chose a different main course and no one was disappointed. Friendly straightforward service. Nice that they have a list of wine recommendations for each dish with the option of a single glass so you can all find a good match.
